  1. I hear ya. I have purchased 3 fiberglass items from MSA, rear 240Z bumper, type-1 air dam and these flares. I have had to "adjust' all of them. The biggest issues are too thin gel coat and even some stress cracks right out of the box. But I know firberglass is not an exact science for mass production and need "adjustments" to make them work. In hindsite I wish I had gone with Z creation for the flares, but its too late now and who knows if their stuff is realy any better.
  2. Yeah, the fronts are pretty obvious. I thought I had the rears right but then started second guessing myself. The cut line would be much different and don't want to screw that up!
  3. I was thinking that with the wide part to the front it looked more right. That's the first pict I have seen that really makes it clear. Thanks for keeping me sane, I was really having doubts!
  4. I just got some MSA ZG flares. I am confused about which is the right and which is the left on the rears. I have tried both ways and to tell the truth neither looks right! Never have figured out why Datsun designed the wheel wells to not be centered. Anyway is the wide part of the top of these flares supposed to be toward the front or toward the rear? I looked at a lot of picts and read Austin awesome write-up but I am still confused.
  5. If you're talking about the diff axle seals for a R200 I got mine at Oreilly's Auto Parts National - Oil Seal Part Number: 223542 around $8 each.
  6. My first engine swap into my 280Z was a stock used '94 Z28 LT1 with a cold air inlet and block huggers producing 265 RWHP. I'm running a 4L60E tranny and it turned consistent 12.9's in the 1/4. For the street it was more than adequate for me. But it had a lot of miles on the engine so I built a new 4 bolt LT1 using a GM hot cam kit to give me a little more HP. I haven't had the opportunity to test it at the drags or take it to the dyno yet but it feels much stronger than the old engine. Do I need the extra HP since my car is mainly a daily driver? Hell no. Did I want the extra HP, well that urge to get into the 11's is pretty strong, LOL. Like was said above these cars are always in a state of upgrade. I doubt I will ever say the car is done, be it performance or cosmetics.
  7. Cool idea. I got my car in July of 2005, this is a before and after pict.
  8. BTW I think you can use the 280Z reverviors on the 280ZX MS.
  9. It was a Cardone - Master Cylinder Part Number: 11-1837. I just looked at the receipt, it was $31.99. It did not come with the reservoirs but I already had those. It did have bleeders which I thought was a plus for bench bleeding.
  10. No No experience with that one. But I got mine at Oreilly's and have had no issues with it. I think It was around $30 and they gave me trade in value on my old 280Z one.
  11. Make sure your steering rack isn't moving sideways when you turn the wheel, test that sitting still. I know it sounds strange but it happened to me and did not get better with new rack bushings. I had to make sheetmetal spacers to weld beside the rack bushings to make them fit tight.
  12. Anytime you order on-line you're gonna get hit with the shipping. The trick is to order a lot to justify the shipping over buying local. If you're not totaly commited to using actual Datsun parts check your local ACE Hardware. I have used a lot of their metric stuff in my car. If I need a lot I get them at boltdepot.com But again you need to buy a lot to make up for the shipping.

  15. I saw the EBay one yesyerday. Also classicdatsun.com is using your instructions on their site.
  16. LOL, Imagine that. That picture in your signature cost me a damn fortune!!!! I was almost over wanting those wheels when your sig kept showing up.
  17. It took me a week but the 5 lug conversion is finally finished. I decided to go the expensive route and got Modern Motorsports zero offset front hubs and billet rear stub axels with 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I thought about using the 300ZX front hubs but they are hard to find and would move the wheels 3/4" outward and I didn't like that idea. The reason for this whole thing was to use the wheels I have wanted since I got this car, American Racing Troq Thrust. I got 17x8 with 0 offset and 4.5" back space. I did run into a couple issues. #1 The wheels are really made for a Mustang and have a chamfered center bore. That bore is too small to clear the MM front hubs and sit flat. Right now I "fixed" that by running a 1/4" spacer. It sticks the wheel out a little further than I'd like so I will investigate relieving the wheel's center bore a little to clear the hub. #2 For some unknown reason the rear rotors center bore is smaller than the old 4 lug rotors even though they are for the same 83-85 300ZX and were bought from the same people. The new ones don't clear the center bore on the MM axle stubs but the old ones do, go figure. It took me 3 minutes a rotor the dremel to fit.
  18. Try ACE Hardware. The one here has an awesmoe supply of high grade metric nuts and bolts.
  19. Good luck over there. We all appreciate the military's sacrifices. My thoughts and prayers go with all of you. We'll do what we can to fill your Z needs here.
  20. I just tested that changing HybridZ to Members Gallery and it worked. You're a wizard!

  24. Ok I uploaded a photo to one of my existing album and that took me to member albums. I selected the New Album link there and that worked. I think there is a bug in creating a new album from your own Gallery section. thanks for your help Dale
