  1. Hey fellows, I have removed the rear suspension from my totaled Z and I thought you may like to see it in its totality. A few of you were having some trouble picturing how it worked so here are some pics of it. This is exactly how it is as installed in the vehicle. The only thing missing is the floor of the rear deck to bolt it too. Study the pics and its operation should be self explanitory. This setup worked really well. It was overly built and in its next rendition it will be much lighter. Here are some pics. Mongo
  2. John, if you smear the wire with "no ox". or similar aluminum wiring "grease". you will almost eliminate the oxidation that is the problem with aluminum wiring connections. available wherever wiring supplies are sold. mongo
  3. I have to agree with johnc. Buy only what you need as you need it. I have S.O. tools in my box that came as part of a set and have only been used 2-3 times in the last 40 years . That's a lot of money that was poorly spent. A few complaints: 1. I have had Snapon ratchets break many times over the years, to the point that when I have something that is really tight, I use a Mac or Craftsman tool. Buy Ratchets that are fine toothed. They are stronger than coarse toothed ratchets. 2. Snapon wrench's have a somewhat sharp edge on them and they will hurt your hand when pulling hard on them. see #1 above. 3. Save your money on toolboxs, do not be tempted to buy the big, fancy, very expensive box. If I was in the market for a new box, I would look very seriously at the Stainless steel box's that are sold at Costco. They are good looking and I think they will last for a long time and they are priced very favorably. My $.02, Mongo
  4. You talking about windshield chrome strip? Not sure from your post. Mongo
  5. He is in great shape and perhaps a little humble towards the old man. To me, although I loved that car, in the scheme of things it is just tinI have been in contact with some fellow list members and may already have a new project lined up for the near future. Updates will follow. Mongo
  6. My Z was totaled at the Larison Rock Hillclimb on Sunday. My Son was driving, and hoping to make it into the "under 2 sec club" when he went off in turn 7. He is uninjured, but the Zcar was not as fortunate. It will be retired and used to supply parts for my next project, which is not yet decided upon. Pics and a final in-car video have been posted to My Garage and the video section. I have to admit it was not being used much due to increasing tyranny by the underfunded Police Depts. They seem to have become a bit of an extortion ring everywhere. I am hearing some real horror story's from fellow racers who travel to events. Damb that was a sweet ride!!! Mongo
  7. Got a video of my Son driving the Z in our first hillclimb. I have competed in a variety of different events, and I belive this was the most enjoyable. The engine was running very rich, and you can hear it go flat near the end. Altitude was 5000 feet, and the carb was originally set for sea level. I had to lean it 5 jet sizes and it was still too rich, but much improved. My Wide band refused to work so I was guessing. Mongo
  8. Damb! If I'da known you were gonna go for a ride, I might have stuck around a little longer, got my hands a littler dirtier, and begged a ride!!. That is going to be one of the sweetest rides I've seen. The headers and mounts are beautiful to look at! Fit and finish is excellent! Once done, any one who is not familiar with BMW's will think this is a factory install. I wish I had kept a build manual like you have, I would still be deciphering my wiring!! LOL If any one out there is considering this swap, you really should look into the kit when it comes to market. Very nice work Paul!! Mongo PS.... Thanks for compliments, I am trying to keep up with your build quality, but you keep jumping to the next level!! LOL!!
  9. Sorry this is so late. i have been driving the car for a tear and have made a few changes. I have added another 3/8" of spacers and made a new pilot bushing to compensate for moving trany back. I now have a total of 1" of spacers and the pilot extends from trhe rear of the crank about 1/2". The new spacers will allow the clutch to have enough play to be self adjusting. It originally realeased at the very top of the pedal travel and had no room for wear. I also added several steel plates to the trany tunnel to act as a scatter shield. See pics . Mongo
  10. If this is to be street driven, you should really consider an OD trany. Mongo
  11. Your ignition problem is probably caused by feedback from the alternator circuit. Do a search. Sounds like you have a misalignment in the half shaft. Is car seriously lowered? something bent.? Maybe the replacement shaft had a bad u-joint when you installed it. Mongo
  12. Sticky or something similar? Mongo
  13. So, is this a Borgward or a DKW? Mongo
  14. Dan, It sounds like you got the correct part. you may have to purchase an adapter to install it in the LS engine. Mongo

  16. Maybe some day.......
  17. Eyes are opening, We the Slaves are awakening, Ire is rising, Critical mass is approaching. The Rothschild's, Morgans, Rockefeller's, Bilderberger's, and all the global elitists are getting nervous. They fear, and rightly so, that the serfs will rise and destroy them. I look forward to the day that they are hung, eviscerated, from the lamp posts of Wash DC., New york, London, and everywhere that they impose their will on the common man. Yes, I expect I am on the Watch lists. LOL Mongo
  18. Excellent find! Thanks for heads up !! Mongo
