  1. Well I've decided to go full force on my Z car again. I picked up just about everything I need to make her run, And since I got laid off I now have the time to put in on this project. So I go to my local parts store and try to get a 1984-6 4 cly camaro rad. (the one suggested in the book) and I cant find one. they are all to wide. I have EXCATLY 25" between the rails. My thoughts are the rad company droped the shorter model, and will only sell the heavy duty version, thus eliminating a model from the catalog. I can order a griffin 24x19 or call Stealth Conversions and get one from them, but I'm trying to use as many stock, off the shelf parts as I can, so If I'm damage something in the middle of nowhere I can just get one and be back on the road. So My question is: Does anybody know of a GM style rad less than 25" wide (I'll cut my rails if I have to) that I can get from a local parts house? Thanks for reading this far. Keith PS I've allready spent the better part of yesterday using the search function, I must have read 300 threads looking for this part. Thanks again
  2. Well I think I fixed it!! To bad I can't get into the shop on Sun to verify a repair. It seems that I install the U7 IC in backwards, 180* out whatever you want to call it. Boy I hope that fixes it. Keith
  3. If only the wiring harness were the same and my V3 was not set up for EDIS and high Imp injectors and GM IAC ect, other than that it a good idea!!.. all sarcasm aside any body here have any thought on my situation? Keith
  4. I know that this if for MS on Datsuns but MSEFI is down and I'm really under the gun here. I.ve read through all the pages of this fourum and found nothing to help me with this problem. I have a MS V3 on my 240Z and It is GREAT!! However I talked my boss into letting me put my old V2.2 board on his 79 Renualt Gordini (dont laugh) and here is the whole story. V2.2 low imp. inj's no flyback. worked fine for several weeks. one day we tried to start it and found both inj fuses blown, I replaced them and they blew as soon as the key went on. I was out of 7.5amps so I installed 10's to trace the circuit they did not blow found no harness issues. I sourced some 7.5s and found MASSIVE fuel fouling on the plugs, drianed the oil and gas from the crankcase. saw some signs of heat damage on the Q1. I also put a noid light on the injectors and found they were always on, no pulses at all just constant on. So I replaced it (Q1) the U7,Q2,Q7. I also added the flyback board as per the instructions The inj pulse led is firing, However I put a noid light on the Injector itself and I get a constant on situation, I've checked the injector wiring and found no faults there. I did replace the Q2 and Q7 and U7 components, I removed the Q1,R32,D21,D22,D23 as per instructions. I also double checked the 6 wires that connect the FlybackBoard to the Mainboard. when I powered up the unit the power LED comes up, the INJ LED pulses and the noid light stays on. (same as before) I still have the same flooded engine problem, and to make matters worse my boss has listed the car for sale and has a potential buyer coming in on Tue. if it does not run im in it DEEP! Thanks for reading this far and for ANY help you might be able to offer. Keith
  5. Thanks Grump. I did not think of that. I was planning on running feeds out for my telephone, computer, intercom, ect. I guess I'll be running 2 trenches. Thanks again guys. Keith
  6. This is a pretty low key shop. 35x40 industrial lighting, the big toys include a 220v Plasma cutter (my new best friend) a 110v Mig (soon to be 220V) 120v 30A compressor and a lift in the spring (we are changing ours over at work(made the owner promise me one)). at the most ownley 2 people there at a time working,I dont count watching and beer drinking as working but more of that gets done than working. I think I'm just going to suck it up and buy direct burial 100 amp Feeder wire and do it once and do it right. Thanks for the responces guys You have yet to lead me astray. Keith
  7. So If I put the load on a 60 amp breaker in the house I'll be legal? I know that the #3 will work put I have a huge fear of burning my shop down, let alone the house. Keith
  8. I'm looking to run a new service to my shop, the total run is 125' from my house panel to the shop panel. I have enough #3 copper to cover the distance (run in 1.25" conduit underground) the load is 100 amp. is this wire size adaquate? or do I need to buy a large gauge? Thanks guys Keith
  9. OK so who ever said I was up to current specs? Hell my DD still has a carb on it , from the factory at that. I guess I should research these things better! Keith
  10. I later read that the guy left his blanket heater on (wired on a toggle instead of ignition) and his safety blow off was found to be defective. That has to be pressure wave damage as NOS is basically oxygen, meaning it was not actually an explosion. this is supported I guess from the lack of signs of fire.
  11. http://www.macmurchie.com/why_not.htm I see it but I still don't believe it. Keith
  12. I'm going for the stealth look. That same flat black paint, no chrome, or braided stainless with the red and blue fittings, I have 17x9 mustang GT's on it. The same for the engine. purpose built, not flashy but you know it aint stock. serp belt pulleys, no N20, no boost. low blacked out windows, brushed steel bumpers, FULL wheel wells, Megasquirt EFI running a lingenfelter intake on a rollor cammed 383 700 slush box and a Dana 44M IRS. Keith
  13. I was watching somecoverage of the Bristol Bash on TV last night (thank you Tivo) and I saw a sweet blue 280Z with the plate 1QUICKZ. It laid down a perfect pass. Just wondering who it may belong to. Keith
  14. OK I'm letting my mind wonder here at work. What would a ZZ4 cam do in a 9.5:1 383 with a TH700r4 and 3.08 gears and 24" tires. I have a 350 with cracked heads and that cam and a 383 that needs a cam. anybody want to DD this? Keith
  15. I'm in a position to get some brake lines from a dirt track team that is quitting racing. What lenght should I get I plan on using Wilwood or Outlaw calipers but I' not sure what lenght I should get. Anybody have a similar set up that can guide me? Keith
  16. Aux you are right it is Steves Z. He runs around in a BUILT Jeep cheeoke now. He convinced me to build a 4.6L stroker motor for my YJ. Keith
  17. http://jeepin.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=013988 This is from a Jeep board I fequent. Sad ending, nobody was hurt. Keith
  18. Does anybody know of a gasket that does NOT use the SS trim? I'm blacking out my car and would like to do away with the trim. Keith
  19. Just making a guess, but you already know about http://www.torquecentral.com and the rx-7 swap fourum? Looks good so far makes me miss mr 2nd gen 350/700 combo. Keith
  20. Pic and a price would go a long way in helping me make up my mind, Please keep me informed. Keith
  21. If you can pull the swap off in 48 hours you will earn thr title of a man among men! Did you figure on how long it will take to get the driveshaft made and the custom exhaust fitted, or is that the time frame to get the motor physically in the car? Keith
  22. Alingnment is critical, but not as much as you may think. rember the whole motor is shifted to the pass side to start with. I had to slot mine so that the tranny (TH-700r4) would cear the tunnel. Good luck. Keith
  23. I'm in the pulling wire stage right now, I'm also contimplating how this will inter face with my Mega squirt stuff ( I know they are seperate units but I want the harness to look real neat) also need to hard mount a few more parts just to make sure the wires are in a safe enviroment. I'm running convoluted tubing over most of the harness. Also looking to run the stereo wires at the same time, so I'm really routing 4 (painless,MegaSquirt, stereo, datsun) harnesses at the same time. I mounted my fuse block above my dead pedal using the plate provided and some rubber mounted stand offs. It came out pretty nice, it will be difficult when I go back and form the interior panels for that kick panel but if it was easy everybody would be doing it. Keith
  24. Chevsun I've got an extra set of directionals for a 73 240z If you still need them let me know. Also Great Idea on the DZUS fasteners I was thinking about hood pins but like the flush mount look of DZUS much better! Thanks again guys. Keith
