  1. That is good to hear I just mounted the MC to the booster I'll be getting a ton of hard line and fittings. I am having a hard time locating a resivoir. Keith
  2. I have the Datsun almost back on the ground. I need to plumb the brake lines so I had to mount the booster to the firewall and buy a master cylinder. I have a 1980 15/16" 280ZX Master and a 1978 2+2 booster. will this system work with Ross's extreme brake set up? It will be some time until I can afford that kit but I want to have the right components in place now. Keith
  3. You most likley put more stress on a joint in one race than I'll do in a year. (it is just a street car) It will only go to the drag track maybe once a month in the summer. thanks for the info. I'll get the OEM units when these ones wear out. Keith
  4. I ordered 2 new ball joints today. I got MOOG joints and they come with boots of course. I will keep a close eye on them. John what brands are you refering to as wearing out fast? I've been using MOOG stuff here at the shop for years with no problems. If these show were I'll go with OEM do you have any idea what they cost (dealer net)? Keith
  5. I picked up a bushing kit for my car yesterday and intalled it. Now I'm putting the front suspension back together. I was going to replace the lower ball joint while I was there (hell everything else is new, what is 2 more parts?) then I found that they are $50 bucks each!!! the ones I have are in REAL good shape but the boots are destroyed. Does anybody know if I can buy just the boots or do I need to blow $100? The suspension kit came with new ones for the tie rod ends so I'm good there. I checked Autozone on line but I'll call my import parts distributers in the morning. I'm glad I kept the 280 front arms when I decided to use my 240 rack you can't get ball joints for the 240 anywhere!! Keith
  6. I work in a tranny shop I'm considering a 700 swap but I don't have the time or money right now I just bought a bushing kit and fuel cell for the Z. Keith
  7. Hey MikeC do you know any good sites for 89 chevy trucks? I just bought a 89 3/4 ton 4x4 to pull the cars to the track it is great except for the 4:10 gears and the TH-400 it is REAL busy at highway speeds. Keith
  8. I dint think so I have a 65 motor with a timing tag it has a very small damper on it and I have a different motor with a 8" balancer on it if you want I'll send you the timing cover from the 65 motor if it will work for you. I don't plan on using it. Keith
  9. timing pointer is VERY easy. measure the dampner and go to the parts store or speed shop and pick one up they bolt to the timing cover bolts. All done in about 10 min. Keith
  10. What are the tranny Q's I can help you with those. Keith
  11. So you are saying that there is a sun? Here in pittsburgh we have had 2 nice weekends this year!! almost every event has been a rain out I've only had the T-tops out 2 times!!!! I dread the thought of moving my entire shop again!!! (last time was from Boston to Pittsburgh) if we do move my z will have been coast to coast though I bought her in Sturbidge Mass were she was gutted, caged and 99% of the rust work was done brought to PA for differential fitting, wiring, and plumbing. now may be going to the west for finishing and raod testing. Thanks for the heads up guys, just one more question, what are the SMOG NAZIS like? It looks a little to close to Cali for my liking. Keith
  12. I may be moving to Portland Or. My wife is interviweing with Nike. I was just wondering what the car scene is like there I've never lived on the west coast before and just wondering what I may be getting into. Keith
  13. you can NOT use the 700 TC on a 2004r the good news is you can find a D5 converter. They stall around 2500rpm if my memory is right. I see them on http://www.turbobuick.com and http://www.turbobuicks.com every once and a while. Keith
  14. Thanks Tim you type faster than I think sometimes. Keith
  15. Chevy used them in the monte carlo ss and a TON of other cars I see them with the unibolt bellhousing in the boneyards for a decent price. I dont have the ratios handy but a quick search on the web will score you that info. I just picked up a core from the JY for $40 that came with the TC, dipstick, yoke, and TV cable. Keith
  16. Billy383z If you'r not happy with the 700r4 due to thr rpm drop between 1st and 2nd and think 1st is to low take a CLOSE look at the TH-2004r these are GREAT trannys. they are smaller than the 700's a bit lighter and just as strong. and as far a performance parts there are a TON of them. Take a look at ScottieGNZ's car (he is a member on this board) This is the tranny that was used on the turbo buicks that stalked prey on the streets for the last15 yrs. Keith
  17. with a vac mod on a GM rear drive unit and a pan shaped like a square with one corner cut at a 45* angle it sure sounds like a 350 to me. Keith
  18. does your tranny have a vac modulater? The 350's do the pan looks VERY similar to a TH200m This is a very weak unit. you can sell the 350 for a decent price and 700's are pretty easy to rebuild. If you go junkyarding for a 700 try and find a late 87 unit these have a 30 spline converter and upgraded internals,if you are not going to use a computer to operate the TCC (ie a carbed engine) they also have a TCC shift valve Keith
  19. If you can post a pic of the pan we can ID very quickly. if not how many bolts hold the pan on? does it have a vac. modulater? tv cable are there ane electrical connectors on the case, if so were are they, shape, number of pins? Keith
  20. Mikelly I think the line is Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff! But I could be wrong- Dennis Miller Keith
  21. It sorta looks like a 3rd gen f-body I've NEVER seen one who's hood supports work (MIne sure don't) but that air cleaner isnot going any where!!! Keith
  22. I saw that car a few yeas ago on the Hot rod power tour East coast edition it was a HUGE joke then I was sure it was rotting away some where or it had been V-8'ed by now. Keith
  23. You MAY be able to get jets for a Dellorto from Racing Beat in Anaheim Ca. I got my dell from them a bunch of years ago they deal ONLY in rotory engine parts with a small sideline in miata dress up stuff. CBPerformance does not carry much any more I had a real hard time getting a gasket kit for mine about 6 months ago that was why I sold it!! The company in Europe was GREAT to deal with good parts at a decent price the shipping does take a while but it is normal time for international shipments. Keith
  24. I've decided to dump a 305 tpi motor I have into the Z just so I can DRIVE this thing. I need a harness to make it work. I want a stand alone harness I have the fuel system in place (mostly) I just need a way to connect the ECM to the hardware and light the fire so to speak. Keith
  25. No I am planning on using a 700r4 trans it does whoever hit on the bracket that holds the OE throttle cable. Keith
