My computer that is. I lost all my Desk top dyno info. airflow files for a ton of chevy heads anr a bunch of the more popular cams. I pulled many of these from the net but I can't find them any were!!!!! Can you guys help me? I need to work out a few things but without good data the outcome will be crap. Thanks Keith PS to all the mods, Please move this to the correct forum as I could not decide where it belonged. Thanks again Keith

The 4L85E is a brute they are big, heavy and STRONG AS HELL!!! They do require a computer to run them but I think they are overkill in a light rig. My 700 runs real well behind a 500ft lb 383 with a 2K stall and a BIG (overkill) tranny cooler. Just my $.02 worth Keith

Looks good I felt so good when I did my floors and subs. What a feeling of accomplishment!!!! I sure wish I had a lift in my shop. But keep up the work. Keith

new 206cc vortec heads announced
383 240z replied to grumpyvette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Any idea how these compare to the AFR 190's You recommended these heads for my engine a while back, and I've been saving my nickels and dimes, but with new information you somtimes have to make new decisions. Plus I get Wholesale pricing from GM!!! Keith -
Thanks for all the responces guys! Now I just need to get a good air door and drill a single plane manifold for injectors. Keith

I was looking at these for a while now and since winter has taken a firm hold here I was wondering if anybody was done one and has it running yet? Keith

That has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time Keith

how bad is wiring the V8 if you use painless wiring harness
383 240z replied to a topic in Ignition and Electrical
I'm glad I saw this thread. I have the 18 circuit kit sitting on my parts shelf it is the next major part of the restoration. If anybody has the Datsun wiring diagram PLEASE POST IT!! Keith -
I saw catch me if you can. Not to bad for a B movie. As for one of my Fav's (I love a ton of those that have been listed) has to be "Streets of Fire" Michel Pare, Diane Lane, Willam Defoe, Rick Moranis, and if you look close you will find Robert Townsed, Bill Paxton Ving Rames. NetFlix has it you guys might care to check it out. Keith

I'm looking to see if it is a good idea to weld on a tailshaft yoke? I know it sounds odd but, please hear me out. I have a Dana 44m diff and the datsun outer hubs. my plan is to have a set of custom halfshafts made that will have a GM inner u-joint then I have a plunge joint (from a ford explorer 4x4 front drive shaft) then build a plate that will mate a GM u-joint via a cut down yoke that is welded to a hubcentric plate that will bolt to the datsun factory outboard plates. I have a built 200r4 here but I think that a T-56 is in the future for this car. I plan on selling the 2 slush boxes and going for the big bad 6 speed!! I have a 700 on my v-8 rx-7 with a 4.10 gear and short tires. I wish I had a stick in that car!! Keith I decided to go with the dana when I priced a good set of gears for my R-200 Keith -

Pyro I would consider the R-200 diff except I spent way to much time getting the Dana 44m up into there. Thanks for the bit about the Sanderson headers and the rest of the exhaust. As for the TC I work for a large Transmission company and we build our own converters. The stall speed I noted was the acutal stall speed. not a magazine ad "rated stall speed" Keith -

Thanks guys please keep it coming. Like I said I pulled this stuff from a american speed catalog. I would like to have it taylored to fit the light weight Z chassis and still keep it streetable. I'm no engine designer but I can take advice from those who know more than me. Keith -
350 bored 0.030 3.75" stroke (383) 5.7" rods flat top forged pistons 9.5:1 CR AFR 190cc Aluminum street heads w/76cc chambers fitted with 2.02/1.6 valves 1.6:1 roller rockers Comp cams Hydraulic roller (pn 12-433-8) Duration: 236/242* @ 0.050" Valve Lift: 0.555/0.576 LSA: 110* Edelbrock Performer RPM with Holley 750 mech. 2ndry double pump This will be installed in the Z, with a T-56 (may keep the 700R4 w/2000 rpm TC) 3.08 gears So what do you all think? I pulled the engine combo from American Speed (they call it the Enforcer 383) I saw that it contained MANY of the parts I have here and I could not complain about the power output I was just wondering how the engine would work in a light car like the Z. Dan I saw an add in a Hot-Rod Car Craft type mag that had 3 different shifter locations I just thought they were variants on factory parts. I'm looking for a T-56 right now but it will be a while until I have to have one in my hands. The diff mounts should be fabbed up sometime this weekend. I'm using a 700 with the caprice extention housing to get the alignment correct. I have the brake stuff here (still waiting on the hub adapters) I'll be getting my springs at the next swap meet (used stock car parts) The plan is to have this car on the ground before spring rolls around. I still need to plumb the car. Keith
-
Just the usual things I guess. How much do I have to dimple the floor pans, what parts are needed from what cars to make the hydraluics work, I know there are several different shifter locations, but I'm not sure what one fits our cars the best, also what makes a good master cylinder for these and how much cutting is needed to make the shifter sit correctly inside the car. Anything else I'm missing here guys? I know Automatic trannys are my profession (in fact I have a fully built 700 sitting here that will hold over 500hp I may be selling to fund the T-56 project) I just think that a standard will be more fun to run as a drivers car. The automatic would be more consistant on the drag track I may want to road race this car. BeaveRun is only about 50 mins from my house. Keith

I seem to remember an install document that was written about this subject but I cant seem to find it. Can anybody help me?? Keith

29 here Keith

I used grants kit but PLEASE do a quick search on http://www.torquecentral.com for him SEVERAL people have had problems with him as a parts source. I had NO trouble with him from what I have seen is the older cars (fb's and FC'c) he can ship very quickly the FD kits will take a LONG time also for the fb' and fc's the LS1 and LS6 mounts are always on back order. So if you are going early car, standard motor, you should have no problem BUT PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. If you end up using a ford (gasp) motor the blubprints are on the TC website just make your own. 383 240z replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
TAKE IT BACK good welders aren't cheap and cheap welders aren't good! I made the mistake of buying a lowcost welder and it made VERY bad welds I used my buddies miller cricket and it made me look like a real welder!!! Keith -

I cleaned the resovoirs up today. they look pretty good I never thout to look at muscle motorsports for them, The ones I got have screw on caps. I think I'll stick with them for now I mounted the booster but it has to come off again as I'm still cleaning the firewall and welding some of the holes shut. Keith -
How Hard is it to change out all the bushings?
383 240z replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I did mine in one weekend. The key is the spindle pin puller!!! get your name on the list and the job is a walk in the park!! I found the best way to get the old ones out is a good drill with a few 1/4" bits and just drill the hell out of the rubber until the center is free the cut the outer sleeve with hacksaw clean up any burrs you may have made, put some lube on the new bushings and push them in with your hand or a 4" c-clamp.
