Sad thing is they are thinking about producing that monster 250K each. I'd rather buy a Bentley! Keith

you should put the switch on the clutch pedal. So that the clutch has to be depressed for the car to start. or you can just splice the the wires to simulate a closed switch but that would not be to safe!! Keith

Well it worked!!!!!! I did not have any wd-40 for mold relese but PB Blaster worked VERY well. Just a little tug is all it took. I trimed it up a bit and will do some sanding over the next few days. I still need to do somthing about the very tip of the center crease in the scoop. I most likly will build it up with 'glass and resin then sand it to a nice profile. I will be building the flange up from the backside just to make it stiffer and have some more body for the bolts to hold on to. I also think this will make the part much stronger. You guys have been so helpful with this project!!!! This is not my last 'glass project but I will not whine about the cost of a nice peice of 'glass next time I go to the swap meet!! Also a few things I learned along the way. 1 Rubber gloves are your friend 2 cover everything with aluminum foil! 3 don't cut mat with your wifes good scissors!! 4 four inch cut off wheeles are great! Now all I have to do is prep it for paint and get this thing inspected. The pix can be seen at http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/rx7260z/lst?.dir=/RX-7+Hood+scoop&.view=t Thanks again! Keith -

Lisle tools makes a way cool tool that is basicly a large threaded cone that threads into the bushing(can NOT be used with bearings)and you put your grease gun on to the zerk fitting located on the wide end of the cone and pump it full of grease and out pops the bushing it workd great and only costs abot $15 from MAC tools. Need motor help! It's time to spend $$$$$

OK Pete what would you recommend? I plan on driving this thing EVERY day! I just can't accept the low perf numbers this motor has produced. I bought it with out driving it. The car it was in was to unsafe for even me to drive!! but it ran solid and leaked no oil had good vac at idle and was cheap. I bought a holley 750 vac 2ndrys (after your reccomendation I might add) I will be adding a set of 64cc camel hump heads that are fresh(unsure of sping rates) my original intent was to get a matched cam and intake but with everybodies help here I will most likly bolt together a different combo that will work very well!!! I did not think about the scalloping effect on the flange portion. I guess I can sand that part out after it is finished I'm not worried about "show quality" this is my daily driver. I painted this thing in my driveway! It was the first car I ever painted. But I still want it to look presentable at the local car shows. But mostly I just like being able to say I did it all myself from the paint to wiring to rebuilding the transmission and tuning the carb. Keith -

Is anybody here using the Performer RPM package? I was surprised that nobody spoke up for the systemax setup I had considered the Edelbrok setup before but for some reason I sort of forgot about it. Go figure!! Now I have to wait for the Swap meets to start up in the spring (gotta save some money also) Thanks for the info. Keith -

Terry I'm not sure I'm willing to try that(to afraid of if not being hard enough and damaging somthing)I think I will try your tip on spraying a liberal coat of wd-40. I'm not sure what to do with the peak and leading edge most likly I'll just build up a bulk of 'glass and sand it to the correct profile before it gets bolted down. I cut the side profile pretty close but it is not perfect the largest gap is about 1/16" is this ok or should I make it perfect? You all can see the new pix at http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/rx7260z/lst?.dir=/RX-7+Hood+scoop&.src=ph&.done Keith -

They are calling for 45* and 50* for the next few days. So it is time to get this scoop project done. I'm not talking about heating the shop for the resin but for me I HATE the cold. Still tring to convince the wife to move to SW no rust and no SNOW!! I will be taking some photos along the way and will post them for you all to crituque (sp) my work.Keith -
That is not so funny a few years back I built a SBC in my dads basment. I then had to convince my best friend to help me get it up about 15 steps then dump it into a wheelbarrow wheel it across the back yard get it into the hatch of my 87 rx-7 then drive it to my apt. and install it in to my lifted 76 GMC we did this on the sidewalk in front of the apt building I lived in the rest of the people who lived there were "thrilled" my wife was plain PISSED. she kept calling me white trash until it was done! My neighbor's daughter convinced me I need an MP3 player. my question is were do you get MP3's from? This is a real question I am not what you would call a technicly advanced person. I looked in the record store and did not see them there. The sad part of this is I am only 28 years old!! Keith

OK I cut the large flats off the scoop. Then I transfered the contour of the hood to the side of the scoop. And cut them out. I then covered the hood with 2" masking tape overlapping each run by about 1/2" and layed garbage bags over the air cleaner and rest of the engine bay. (I cut a hole to clear the air cleaner before I bought the scoop)Now I just need to rent a heater to warm things up a bit and get out of a few X-mas shopping trips and get this thing inspected!! I THANK you all again this is not as hard as I had thought thank you for convincing me that I could do this my self! Keith -

Grumpy sold me on the total seal rings a few motors ago!! I love them!! The heads are 76cc I think I have yet to find a cheap burett to check but they look VERY similar to another set of 76cc heads I have here. I don't have the $$ for another set of heads. I plan on pulling the heads soon to see what is in there. Keith -

Is there a specific piston I should run with this combo ? I most likly will be using the 350 motor and I think it has dished pistons . I pulled it from a 84 3/4 ton 3+3 4 speed truck. it is a fun ride but as always I need more power !!!! Also should I bump the converter stall??Keith -

I've got a cowl induction hood sitting on the car now. The car has a stock gm iron intake with a 3/4" spacer and a holley with a 2" air cleaner and I still have about 4" of room. I dont know how high the RPM package sits but I would like to leave enough room for a n02 plate! Keith -
OK Here is what I have. A 350 4 bolt with low comp pistons (i think I've yet to pull the heads). A set of warmed over 461 heads with 1.6 roller lifters. and a 750 vac 2ndry holley. the trans is a 700r4 w/ stock stall and 4:11 rears 205/50/15 tyres. I would like to get a new intake&cam combo. If the 350 has dished pistons I have a 327 w/flat tops That I may build instead. But most likely just get new pistons for the 350. I have been looking at the Holley Systemax 218/218 dur @ .050" 268/268 adv 0475" lift 110lobe sep 105lobe center line and a dual plane intake. my other option is the Edelbrock Power Package 204 Int 214 Exh @ .050" .420" Int .442" Exh. If anybody would like to make comments about either combo or to reccomend a different set up please do!! The motor is in my daily driver rx-7 so idle and drivability are my limiting factors I also need to drive this on 89 octane gas. Keith
