  1. Wow my taste must be way different from everybody elses I saw that car on motortrend tv a little while ago and I thought it was BUTT UGLY of course I really never did like the mustangs lines (I sort of liked the 70-71ish MACH 1's) but that is about it. Oh well to each their own I guess. Keith
  2. That's why I drag my ass to WORK EVERY day! Because millions on welfare depend on me!! Keith
  3. First check the fluid level. If you have a KM series trans. the dip stick will be very low twords the front on the passenger side. check it in neutral at idle. if it apperes burt or has a burnt popcorn smell DO NOT CHANGE IT this will only make matters worse!!!! As for a shop to rebuild it look for a shop who is a member of ATRA they offer a nationwide warranty and have to have a certain level of training and customer service. They may cost a little more up front but you will be very pleased in the long run. Does the transmission have a long delay of engagement into drive or reverse when cold? Put foot on brake and put it into gear how long does it take for you to feel it engage? if it takes too long I wouls suspect pump failure, if it engages quickly and slipps on acceleration you can point your finger at low forward cluch pack psi. or a burned out set of low/reverse clutchs. Either of these calls for a complete overhaul. Keith
  4. I'm planning on putting a T-56 in the Z. But this is my driver. I though about runnong the specs on the donar truck but the guy I bought it from (good friend) Had rebuilt it but cant remember what pistons are in it. He is fairly certain that they are flat tops with 4 valve releifs. I'll most likely drive the car home sometime this week and pop a head when I get a bit of free time. Unless I can find an endoscope. I think I know sombody who has one. I wont know the exact CR but it will let me know if they are flat tops or dished. Keith
  5. I'm POSITIVE that I have 4:10's this is not my z I'm having problems with my other hybrid. The car is an 1987 rx7 It will be an automatic until the tech sector rebounds to 2000 standards or they give T-56's away in crackerjacks. The intake now is a stock gm cast iron. I bought an Edelbrock Performer RPM for this motor. I have a set of GM 462 heads to go on. But it has GM 642 on it now. I'm not sure what the compression is.(it is still a bit to cold outside to pull a head to check) I had to fight the urge to tear into this motor as I needed to get this running on a VERY low budget. I'm using a 750 vac holley. I have a set of 1.6:1 roller rockers here and the set of 1.5:1 stockers that are on the motor now. As for the new cam I don't mind a solid lifer cam and for the converter that is not a real big deal to me as My company owns a converter build shop!! Keith
  6. No it is in my 87 RX-7 I posted my question on the V-8 rx7 board but I trust the grey matter on this site much more. Keith
  7. I want to drive this on the street daily so MPG and idle are important but I dont want to get shown up by 5.0 mustngs and a stock C4 type of cars The weight in my previous post was abit heavy the cars weighs about 2800 lbs Keith
  8. I'm looking for a converter that will match the new cam but my converter builder wants the cam specs. The cam grinder wants the converter specs so I'mm really in a catch 22 here. I would just pick a decent middle of the road cam and stab it in but you have to pull the motor to do this. And it is a bit chilly outside yet and my shop does not have heat!! Keith
  9. How much does rear gears affect your cam choice? I'm asking because I pulled a motor from a truck with a 4 speed and 2 series gears I put it in a 3200 lb car with a 700r4 and 4:10 gears and it is a DOG!!! I'm still studing about cams before I pull this one to optimize the motor for my application. Keith
  10. The Difference Between The Liberal and Conservative "Debate" Over The War on Terrorism: Question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge hunting knife comes around the corner and is running at you while screaming obscenities. In your hand is a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? ___________________________________________________________ Liberal Answer: Well, that's just not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that is inspiring him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he just be content to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion. __________________________________________________________ Conservative Answer: BANG! __________________________________________________________ Conservative Texan's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click. Wife: "Sweetheart, he looks like he's still moving!" (sounds of clip being ejected and fresh clip installed) Son: "Mom's right Dad, I saw it too..." BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy!"
  11. No problem I do this stuff all day long. I r&r and rebuild these things for a living if you have any other question let me know. Keith
  12. Are you trying to replace it with the longer one? Out of a 4L60E? or are you jusr replacing the seal? To remove the shaft you first need to remove the pan. Then remove the Manual Detent Spring. This is a flat spring with one bolt holding it to the valve body. it has a roller on it that mates to the Inside detent lever. The shaft you are trying to remove passes through this part. under this spring you will see a nut it is either 9/16" or 14mm depending on year. remove this and pry the inside detent lever towards the Valve body. some models will have a manual shaft retainer this pops of with a tiny flat bladed screwdriver then you just pull the shaft out of the seal. You will want to replace this seal it did not leak before you started but it will after you remove the shaft. as for reasembly use these torque specs. Inside hex nut 23 ft lbs, Detent Spring to Valve Body 18 ft lbs,Pan to case 12 ft lbs. I hope this helps you. If you need a 4L60E manual shaft (the long one) let me know I think I have a spare floating around. Keith
  13. Does friend know he is being sold? Keith
  14. Remote viewing isn't that somthing the KGB was working on at the start of the cold war? Keith

  16. Post a photo in my posts? I'm having a bit of trouble getting the image from my Memory stick to the post! Auxilary you seem to do this quite a bit. Please post me the instructions. I'm much more comfortable with my wrenchs than this computer Keith
  17. I had a set of those JAZ seats in my old CJ I've rolled that thing a few times and the seats held up real good. they were used when I got them and were about 10 years old when I sold them. last I knew they were still in the CJ and are about 15 now. Not bad for $75 bucks at a swap meet!! Keith
  18. Looks good thanks for the tip. I'm far from that part of my car but I filed it away for future use. Keith

  21. Thanks for the update Mike I should have it in my hands in 7-10 days. Keith
  22. Just wondering what type of old pickup are you getiing rid of? I'm looking for a low rust mid 70's GM. Keith
  23. The car that I am talking about is my 87 rx-7 with a 350/700 combo. Ive jetted the primarys down to 70's and have the ing timing pretty close. The car has pretty good throttle response but the mpg sucks. The 383 in my screen name is sitting on the build bench for my datsun. I would change the gears but the only other option is 3.90 I have a set of better heads that will bump the compressin a bit but that will entail a cam change, that means a new torque converter, and intake. that means the motor has to come back out. oh well I guess I can drive the camero a bit longer ( I really hate that car). I'm gonna toss my 600 on the motor just to see the difference. Keith
  24. I was wondering if swapping my 750 vac holley for a 600 vac holley would affect my mpg? Im running a 4.11 rear gears with an auto trans. My thinking is the carb only dumps enough fuel for the air the motor ingests, right? so if the 750's 2ndry dont open because the motor is a lame stocker the amount of fuel used should be about the same or does cfm's figure into this? Keith
  25. Jegs sells a kit that mounts to the case for just this purpose. I dont have a catolouge here but it is made by lokar and works very well. I am using it on my rx-7 and it works. Keith
