  1. 30 psi with a T-70 turbo and only 55lb injectors... I imagine you'll be upgrading them as well. They have got to be maxing out their duty cycle. I'm making ~350 whp and my 550 injectors are in the 85% range at only 17 psi w/ my T72 turbo. Nice read on the article though Looking forward to my new Lonewolf Performance manifold
  2. Thanks for the props, we are all giddy with anticipation. I have minor wiring remaining consisting of alternator and main ground wire, as well as final brake assembly (installing the line loc) and tieing in the gas pedal to the Supra throttle cable, prior to start up. Now that SEZ is postponed, I may take a few more days to double check wiring, etc. I will update as they come available.
  3. Whew, I am tired from just reading that!! I think we all agreed that the bottom end coming apart on you couldn't have happened in a better place. And Rick, you do get credit for the engine build idea. We started coordinating right after I hung up with ya Garrett, but I wanted to kind of feel you out first to see if that was what you wanted to do prior to setting all the wheels in motion. HybridZ powers activate!! Let's not forget the patient wives/girlfriends involved in this escapade either.
  4. Whew, glad to hear he is OK, hopefully his mom is well also...
  5. Nah, just laughin at what James said
  6. LOL!!! If you are interested in an intercooler, you may wish to contact http://www.SpeedShopThagard.com for all of your turbo/intercooler needs. That is where mine was purchased. mike
  7. New pics added to my photo album... Hopefully, the car will be running by the end of the week, so I can get a little seat time prior to SEZ!! If I do not run into any MAJOR issues, I still plan on having it there!! http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=7981
  8. Could have done w/o the music, and added more engine/exhaust notes. Quite a rush though.
  9. I think we are going to try to do Bithlo Wednesday night after the dyno sessions. It should be a fun day. mike
  10. LOL!! Ours broke down after last year, I guess it's your turn. In all seriousness though, my thoughts are w/ ya.
  11. Snagged those off of Ebay huh? I saw them, added them to my watch list and I guess you were able to work out a deal with the seller first Nice buy
  12. Agreed... Joel, Pallnet, Gabe, John, and everyone else, BE SAFE!!!
  13. I have run the HKS gaskets on all of the turbo engines I have built. The one currently in the car is a JY stock longblock. Gasket is unknown, but rest assured, once the head comes off, a metal gasket will go in. mike
  14. I have heard mixed results when not using spray. Some have had it seal, others have not. Don't be too suprised if you have to pull it apart due to seepage if you don't use the spray...
  15. Yep, you really don't need a throttlebody much larger than your intercooler pipes...
  16. I stand by the metal hg's. just use a little copper spray to tack it up and apply. What is nice is that I have reused them as many as half a dozen times without incident!! http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CP&Category_Code=s30_nismo_headgasketL28
  17. Sure Joe. I will continue to update this thread as new info comes available. The adaptor should not be much different for the 6 speed than it is for the Z32 tranny... aside from the bolt pattern... then the next obstacle will be the input shaft. I may have to have a custom pilot bushing machined. The clutch should be a no brainer as the center splined section of the Z32 clutch should be able to be used w/ the outer section of the turbo 240mm clutch disk, making a "hybrid" clutch disk and then the turbo 240mm flywheel and pressure plate can be used with the new disk. Hopefully the t/o bearing from the Z32 will be compatible. I guess there is a little way to go, but we're headed in the right direction... I hope!!
  18. Well, Ash, what I did w/ the taillights was save the plug (with a short pigtail) that attaches to the taillight harness and connect the painless harness to it. It is pretty straight forward when you have the painless directions and the wiring schematic in front of you. I am the worst ever at soldering, so I have used crimp connectors throughout. Hopefully, I will be able to go through and solder all the connectors at some point, but due to time constraints at this time, crimping is the best I can do. I also want to make sure I have all the connections wired correctly before I make them permanent.
  19. I guess you haven't made significant rwhp w/ an L28 yet...otherwise, it would make perfect sense to go to a beefier tranny. Changing trannies every few months gets old fast, not to mention worrying whether or not it will blow up on you at the track. I have made nearly 400 hp through the stock L28 tranny too (calculated from my 1/4 mile mph)... and there are guys making 400+ hp w/ stock KA trannies, but ask those guys how often they have to change them out. Also, torque is a bigger factor than horsepower and the L28 will make more torque than an SR at the same rwhp levels. The idea is to get a stout transmission that you can rely on. If you are worried about robbing the car of horsepower, you can turn up the boost another 1-2 psi, not having to worry about the tranny so much, and ... problem solved BTW, I dropped off the L28 tranny bell housing to Mark today. He'll get started on it when he has the chance. I plan on bringing the adaptor w/ me to SEZ, if the L28 adaptor is not finished, then Mark said he would lend the SR adaptor attached to the Z32 tranny to me so anyone coming can get an idea of what it will look like. The wheels of progress have begun turning!! mike
