  1. Looks Awesome Clark!! I am still on for next weekend too... Mike
  2. I spent some time a couple of years ago down at a cylinder head shop helping out... Anyway, the closest thing we found were roller rockers for a Ford Ranger (I believe), but you had to move the rocker arm pivots slightly more toward the center or the head (I think it was only about an 1/8 of an inch or so), to keep proper rocker arm geometry.
  3. If your clutch was in good shape, then it should be fine for a stock boosted zxt. Once you start raising the boost, then it will not hold the torque. The only thing that you really need to remember is to remove the auto flexplate spacer that is connected to the crankshaft prior to bolting on the flywheel and that you'll have to install a pilot bushing into the crankshaft of the auto motor for the transmission.
  4. Just a thought, if you switch to a P79 or P90 head, that would drop your compression slightly to around 8.7:1 , and you would be able to turbo it w/o any high compression issues...
  5. Love Bill's car!! It is even nicer in person than in photos!!
  6. I ran one of these in a carbed 240z at one time. I can not remember off hand which one is which, but determined the wiring and pump flow direction by trial and error. I connected a couple of longer wires to the fuel pump leads, hooked hoses to the pump ends, touched the wires to + and - terminals on a battery, and transferred gas from one gas jug to another until I was satisfied which direction I should hook everything up...
  7. You may want to ask around (friends and perhaps your mechanic) and see if anyone in the area has a wideband O2 meter you can hook up to your car (LM-1 for example). You will be able to see whether it is fuel related or not by the air/fuel mixture.
  8. OK, I'll share too... Yep, got to do a little interstate jaunt w/ an 03 Cobra the end of last week in my daily driver 280 turbo... The Cobra passed me on a 4 lane road and I saw the "supercharged" emblems as it went by and heard the supercharger under the hood... I figured I would drop in behind him and see where it would lead...a few miles up the road, the 4 lane road ends and turns into a 6 lane road (3 each way). He just happened to be going the same direction that I was and we came off of a ramp onto the 3 lane interstate, kinda easily moved around a few cars until we had an opening. The Cobra was in front of me and rolled into the throttle (not expecting much from me I guess). I downshifted to 4th and began rolling into the throttle as well (instigating-I know, I should leave the poor Mustangs alone). Finally I see a little puff of exhaust as he figured he'd run away from me. He gets a little jump, I floor it (17 psi and SP57 turbo) and creep up to his bumper, I have to feather the throttle a little as I was accelerating faster than him and do a couple of speed up to his bumper and drop back moves until we catch traffic. When we get close, I slow down (my fun was with the Cobra and not the rest of the traffic on the interstate). He slows as well, but starts darting in and out of traffic to get ahead. I just stayed behind and drove w/ the flow with a little wry smile wondering what was going through his mind as this old Datsun (if he even recognized what it was) ate up his supercharged Mustang.
  9. Awersome Cyrus!! Are you still missing that LS1?? Maybe some day I'll be up and running as well...
  10. I have a few old pics of my car w/ an NPR installed, but am not computer savy enough to attach them here. email me and I'll reply w/ a few photos. sfourman@cfl.rr.com Regards, Mike
  11. Very Nice!! That T-66 is treatin you well !!
  12. Nice choice... I considered similar wheels at one time, but wanted 16's, so I waited for Speeder's (Rick) old HRE's to become available
  13. Perhaps it is being used as an emergency brake... Anyway, it does seem odd that it would work for X amount of time and then just stop working... maybe the knob has to be in a particular alignment to depress, so you don't accidentally hit the button while driving. Try turning the knob slightly and depressing...just a thought...
  14. Here ya go... http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=22936&fromfromlist=advertisement_active&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&
  15. You may want to try another block... I had gone through sonic testing of 3 blocks prior to finding one marginal enough for an 89mm overbore on my previous stroker motor. I had another block crack between the #5 and #6 water passage on a block I did not sonic test (not a thrust surface either), so I do not know what the wall thickness was at the point of failure...
  16. Very nice, that'll uncork some horses!! I can't wait for the dyno results!! Did you finally get the pinging issues resolved? ~mike
  17. Contact our man James here... http://www.speedshopthagard.com/ You will not be disappointed...since you are new, check out his project page as well...
  18. http://www.sdsefi.com/datalog.htm I was just reading about it...
  19. Right on!! Keep the updates coming!!
  20. If those were my two choices and horsepower goals, I would have to decide on either an automatic or manual tranny. If I wanted an automatic, then the GN would be my choice. On the other hand, if I wanted to stay manual, the L28et would win out. Either way, properly tuned with a decent gear ratio (you'll probably end up w/ a 3.54 rear gear), you'll get atleast 25-26 mpg highway and 20-21 mpg city realisticly.
  21. 1. I'm not sure as I haven't done that... 2. The easiest way is to use the Nissan tool to compress the valve springs, but they are expensive and nearly impossible to find (bought mine on Ebay a couple of years ago for $75 used...but worth every penny!!). The second easiest way is to install them on the head while the head is off the car using the big c-clamp looking spring compressor and then the last resort is the 'big ole screwdriver' technique.
  22. So.. are the pistons you have forged or cast? I may know someone who would be interested...
  23. You may want to check the shifter bushing on the bottom of the shifter. If it is broken or now missing altogether, it could create enough slop that the gear could be harder to find. You probably have a rebuild in your future though
