  1. Thanks dsommer!! I look forward every Thanksgiving to hearing the 30 minute version of Alice's restaurant!! It is an odd tradition of sorts for me ...
  2. Do a search for "powerglide L28" There are about 10 listings for it and one complete swap documented and functional.
  3. Yes, see the link 7 posts up...
  4. Those have to be my favorite stories. The old, "The guy with a new high dollar car thought he'd show me what he paid for and then I stomped a mudhole in his ...
  5. Remember, that is a new ring and pinion set. It's still half of what a new ring and pinion for an R200 is from Nissan... This is the first time I have even seen a set of 4.375 gears for an r200. Of course I would not have a use for them anyway, but perhaps on a short autocross course with an na car...
  6. As a rule of thumb, don't use an intercooler designed for a smaller displacement engine on a larger displacement engine...
  7. Easy Mike Perhaps a little sarcastic, but reading between the lines, he has a valid point. People have run that high a boost on the stock T3. Jersey is a good example. Thumper has gone through a handful of turbos running that much boost for an extended period. I think the idea is that we shouldn't be recommending that people run 18 psi onthe stock T3. I would recommend no more than 15 psi on the stocker. Any more than that, and an upgrade should be in order. Even a compressor side from a Buick GN would be a relatively inexpensive upgrade. Another thing to consider is that even a T3/T4 hybrid turbo will not necessarily be able to run 18-20 psi for extended periods without a 360* thrust collear. I had to rebuild a T3/T4 hybrid turbo twice before learning that lesson.
  8. I'd run it stock a couple of times, make your upgrades, and then run it again and see what they actually netted you in usable performance.
  9. Here you go...NOS 4.375 R200 gears http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R200-4-375-Gear-Pinion-NOS-Datsun-240z-280z-280zx-510_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33731QQitemZ8004607148QQrdZ1
  10. AWESOME JOEL!! That is one anxious thought I can clear my mind of now.
  11. No idea on cost yet. He said that he can do a 6-speed as well, but he needs the tranny to do it. The tranny bellhousing is actually cut back the width of the adaptor and the adaptor is bolted to the bellhousing, and then the whole assembly is bolted to the block. Does the Z33 tranny use the same size/spline output shaft? Fortunately, the Z32 shaft has the same splines as the L28 tranny, so if you have a good clutch, it can remain the same.
  12. KUDOS!! Amazing work!! You have been keeping this under wraps I see you sly dog
  13. My fabricator is swamped with a government project (gotta pay the bills you know) and one of his guys chose to seek employment elsewhere, so there are still no updates to speak of, other than it will be done. I just picked up my Z32 tranny and he showed me 3 others sitting in the shop waiting to be adapted. On a side note, the adaptor kit he made to mount the Z32 tranny to the SR motor is beating the streets of Orlando. The Z32 tranny has been installed a month now and there is nothing but good news so far regarding it.
  14. I try not to post too much Ebay stuff, but couldn't resist this time. Here is a nice body looking to be Hybrid-ized!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4578149087&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

    gosh...

Install an inline fuel presure gauge. It is a valuable instrument to have.
  16. Do a search for them. There have been a few threads regarding people's past experiences. I have no quams, as I ordered stainless valves for a P90 and they arrived the same week.
  17. Yep, saw the car Friday up in Jax. It has a lot of potential. I like the Ferrari look. It is definately different. Good luck w/ the project!!
  18. Sounds like you have done your research and are on the right path. Sure, it can be done, but there will be little nagging things that you run into, and look out for the "while I am at it" syndrome that many of us succumb to. Oh, and WELCOME!
  19. How about Joel... any word yet???
  20. You can easily make 350 rwhp. I wonder how many people are making a reliable 350 rwhp with a 'higher' compression motor. I think with 8.2:1, you should be able to reach your goals on pump gas safely (no detonation).
  21. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CP&Category_Code=s30_nismo_headgasketL28 This is the least expensive place I have found to purchase the head gaskets... For the L28, I believe the HKS and Nismo gaskets are one and the same.
  22. Is there a reason you want to choose the AZ zcar pistons? Aren't they flat-tops? Any forged piston manufacturer can make pistons for you. What compression ratio are you looking for and what will the car be used for?
