  1. Try compressing the suspension to help mate them up.
  2. Scott, All I had to do on my 240Z was to re-bend the short lines as they are reversed compared to what the 240Z originally had. I am not 100% sure if you will need to do this on a 280Z. Also I would recommend: The gold thing on the right is the proportioning valve. Take off the large bolt on the bottom and take the guts out and replace the bolt. This will allow more fluid to flow to the calipers verses being necked down when it had drum brakes. It is easier to take it out and put it in a vice. You need small needle nose to pop the c-clip out then take the orifice (tube) out for good. Again this might be a 240Z thing just passing on what I went through.
  3. As far as I know both cables were black 1972 240Z 4K original miles 1973 240Z 8K original miles If you want to be sure check out http://www.classiczcars.com as they would know better. This is all the proof I had time to find. Good Luck!!
  4. The large negative battery cable connects to the top starter bolt the smaller one bolts the firewall: See top bolt in firewall.
  5. Clint, Heard good things about TEC: http://www.turboengineering.com/store/index.cfm
  6. Ahhhh I just came inside, trans is almost out. I am about 1 hour to 1.5 hours from Fairfax... Well maybe next time man. She should be totally gutted tomorrow...
  7. Ouch... I don't think they would work. You might want to look into upgrading your fusible links: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fusiblelinks/index.html Nice info here too: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electrical.htm
  8. Clive, Be safe I got an email from Fred B. too bad I don't "need" anything. You could always shoot down my way and help me pull the auto trans from the 810.
  9. I had a 32" line made from the caliper to the distro block: http://www.putfile.com/album/157770
  10. Steve, Thanks for the tip looks like I will be sandblasting the inside clean or stripping it with automotive spray stripper. Is there another recommended method?
  11. Stephen, I got lucky and snatched this up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190195264863 Now all I need is to get the 810 L24E oil strainer and take my L28E to the machine shop. I hope there not NLA.
  12. Chris try this: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123389 Look forward to seeing the pics.
  13. Steve, Great to hear from you. Could I ask a favor, can you mass produce the rack and pinion swap for us non technically challenged or a write up would be most excellent? I would really like to put a header on the 810 but that steering box is damn big, it would cost me $600-$700 to have one made. Are you guys referring to the dash covers that Norman has or at one time did he have complete dashboards? My dash is literally roached. What do you all think about collectively putting our 810 information in a spreadsheet as well as spare parts on hand and known junkyards where 810’s lie? PM me a good email address and I can whip up a spreadsheet and I can email it to you to fill in the blanks. If some of you don’t have Excel or know how to use it let me know in the PM and I can post the questions for you to answer in plain text. I think it would be neat to have something like this to share and hopefully pull more 810 owners out of the woodworks. Ultimately this can be developed into an 810 registry (if there is not one already). Thoughts?
  14. I already talked to DMV and told them it's a '79 not a '78 and that I have documentation to prove it. They said to bring in the title and they can check by the VIN. It all started after I purchased it from the PA dealer and it was already a '78. After doing research and talking to you guys I knew someone screwed up. So when I am ready to re plate the 810 hopefully it will be in my favor.
  15. Wow 4 810 2dr, now we just need to hear from Steve. Chris nice of you to stop by as well. Please start another thread of your build and I know all of us 810 and hybridZ owners will look forward to seeing it. BTW, if you guys want the stock rear suspension and stock front sway bar let me know.
  16. woops I had 240 on the brain not 280Z....

  18. You also need (for lack of a better explanation) the rear chapmen arm/ diff brace thing. This is the curved one instead of the straight one, it only makes getting to the fill plug easier. Not a necessity but a nicety. It runs across the back center of the diff: Here is your parts: http://austin.craigslist.org/pts/633620704.html
  19. Well after a long and tiring weekend the following was completed: • Front and Rear Suspension gutted • All parts disassembled and ready for degreasing, bushing removal then powder coating. Old 810 Suspension: What's left of the stock exhaust Ready for Powder coating Front Suspension gone Rear suspension gone Stock fuel pump removal..yuck Next weekend’s list: • Remove automatic transmission • Remove hard lines and shielding • Position motor on jack stands and brace • Remove front cross member • Remove bumpers More Pictures:http://photobucket.com/79_Datsun_810
  20. IMHO I would pay the extra $550 for it. If it's feasible you could have a great parts car or take both and make one out of it. Depending on what is on your current Fairlady you could get more parting it out yourself then giving it to this guy for a $550 discount.
  21. Give that baby another chance vice the crusher. You should get more than what a charity will offer you in terms of a "tax" write-off. Good Luck Yasin!!
  22. Yasin, I think you taught them a lesson and with the cops handling themselves the way they did they might have had that "Coming to Jesus" moment. I would hope their parents would take it out of their ass when they got home.
