Phil. I am telling you the color of that guys car looks a whole lot like mine. Here is a bigger pic of the flying pickle. If you like it I can send you the color. I don't care. Imitation is a form of flattery. Let me know if you want the mix. I am telling you the car looks really nice in natural light. I will have to see if I can find some of the pics Mike had taken at the track.

That is one funny title. I feel for you. Just remember to take your time, keep doing what you are doing and you will done soon. Good luck. -
Lazeum, So does shortening the shaft help keep the shaft from bottoming or binding? You kind of make it sound like it may not. What is the issue, if not? Do you have to shorten the shaft for cars that are on lowering springs, or is this mainly for cars using coil overs. I am assuming that stock height cars would not need to do this. Thanks.

It is your master. I am about 90% positive, since i just did this. I had my brake system apart for redoing the interior of my car, and I had problems bleeding. Then I remembered the master bleeders and everything went much smoother. Bleed the master then redo the rest with a mighty vac and you should be good.

Here is another pic of 2003Z's car. It is actually mine now (bought it late last year). I have only done a few simple things to the outside. The color really gets attention. I would swear I am driving an exotic when I take it out. Lots of people want to talk about the car when they see it.

Forgive my ignorance, but why wouldn't you just pay the tickets? Is it a lack of funds, responsibility, or.....? I'm not trying to attack you, I just don't get it. I get a ticket, I pay it, I move on. Why wouldn't you? I would hate to get cuffed and stuffed for something so dumb and have to explain to everyone where I was. I can't imagine an employer looks to well on that, either. Sorry. Not trying to be jerk, I am just trying to figure this out.

I know yours is a 260 but the needed parts are similar. The parts list needed to bolt in a longnose R200 into a 240Z is as follows: 1. mustache bar from 280Z with R200 2. yoke (companion flange) from 280Z with R200 3. rear cover from 280Z or ZX with R200 4. side stub shafts from 280Z or ZX with R200 to bolt up to stock halfshafts FOR EARLY 70-71 Z's only, you need 5 -7. 5. Longer 72-78 driveshaft 6. Curved transverse link that sits right behind the diff from 72-78 Z 7. Flip front diff mount around on crossmember More info: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114798

Ding, Ding, Ding! Give that man a prize. I can not believe that I did not turn the drive shaft the right way. I would have swore I checked both ways, but this is what happens when you work on the car late at night after a full day of work. I guess I am just trying to prove to everyone that I am a knuckle head.

Jon, That is what I always read. I have read it here, Zcar, and many other sites that I have gone to. But my 240Z clearly has a different pinion flange on it with different spacing (in regards to the bolt holes). I have never heard of different bolt spacing from different year Z's, that is why I am posting this. I thought I heard of the '75 280Z having a different bolt pattern, but that would be from another R200 so swapping that pinion flange to a r180 would be impossible. I am really confused. I will take some pics later today and post them up so you can see. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I know how to do the entire swap, and the 240z half shafts are actually the same length as the 280Z's. John C has that info on his website. I am just wondering why I have never read about the Pinion Flange having a different diameter shaft from the R180 to the R200. I am trying to find out if I am missing something. If I am not, how have others gotten around it. I hate having to go and try and find another drive shaft if I don't have to. Thanks.

Ok. Maybe I'm not that bright (my wife would probably agree), but I have read many times over that when switching over from a R180 diff to a R200 diff that you have to change the Pinion Flange on the diff. While doing my swap I pulled off the Flange on the R180 and the R200 and it looks to me that the shaft size of the R180 is smaller, making switching pinion flanges impossible. Is it only me or is this the reality of this swap? So what are you guys doing that switch from the R180 to R200 differential? Thanks for the help.

Here is a better side shot of the car so you can see the entire car. I think it looks higher because of using smaller wheels. If I had 17's on it, it would look a lot better, I think.

I was thinking of that, but I have heard of fitment issues with the fiberglass bumpers. This bumper was not in that great of a condition any way. I knocked out some dents and like I said the chrome was shot. That is what I thought. It makes it look more complete. I said the same thing to my wife. I am going to try and do that soon, but I am really in the mood to drive now.

I just wanted to post this quickly to show everyone my rear bumper now that it is powder coated. The previous owner of my 1973 240 has a powder coating business (thepowdercoater.com) and he did it for me as a favor. The job is really top notch and makes the car look a ton better. The old bumper was very worn and the chrome was almost gone in spots. The rubber was dry rotting and I just didn't like the C clamp pieces. I decided to weld in all the holes grind them flush and then have Mike powder coat it black for me. I think the difference is fantastic. If you need any good powder coating work done, I would recommend him. Enjoy!
