I bought my Lincoln 180 on ebay for less than $450 shipped. You just have to find the right auction at the right time. Most of them are less than $500, though. Using this welder is a joy. I repaired floor pans in my 240 with my friends cheap welder, and it was a real pain in the ass. I thought I had no welding skills, turns out it was just a really crappy welder.

Everything I read said to wet sand primer with 600 grit sandpaper. Is this too coarse? I have done some touch ups like this and it seemed to work, but never an entire car.

Try moving into an old farmhouse that was built in the 1700's. You want to talk about years of half assed workmanship! I have spent the last 5 years of my life working on this house. Problem is, I like the old school stuff. There is no way you could rebuild this house the way it was done due to costs. The one thing I really hate is the previous owner put texture paint everywhere. I HATE texture paint! There is no good way to take it off of plaster walls, either. I am glad I am finally done so I can start to work on the Z more. The 280Z has sat since we are here waiting for some one to finish her.

The HVLP gun from Harbor Freight has actually gotten some decent reviews, to my surprise. I think you can pick it up for $60, or so. There are definitely better guns out there but if you are doing this once in a while than it is hard to justify some of the prices.

I know here in PA you can't live with out a heater. Even when I was driving to Zdayz a month ago I needed the defrost for the rainy morning. I think you will miss it if you don't have it. It may not be some thing you use a lot, but when you need it, you need it.

I'm pretty sure all Z's from '73 up have the 8 1/2" brake booster. It should be part #53-5104 according to AutoZone's website. Hope this helps.

So where are they with the paint Phil? I am anxious to see this beast painted and looking awesome! I know it must be killing you. Hope you get it back soon.
