  1. You could weld on the flange from a stock L28 efi manifold. Just port the runners on the flange to the 33-36mm(varies from cylinder to cylinder) that the LD28 manifold uses.
  2. This is one of the 16's that I played with down at PCC(I'm not the scrawny guy there). They were really beat up though but they were still pretty quick. The sail that I found was the fastest (withoput changing any settings)was a black and white sail(#96504) that was really ripped up LOL. It was setup perfectly though. Before our midterm race (which my buddy and I won by 400+ feet...LOL) we drained about 5 gallons of water out of the hulls. After the race we drained about 15 gallons of water from the hulls. LOL it was sitting about 5" too low in the water.
  3. Scott, That is really cool. Yeah I have seen plans for smaller boats for very cheap and even free. I'll probably find one that I like an use it. I'd love to eventually give a hand on a real boat sometime. That's cool TR! For me, I feel as if anything much over 25' would be too big to store or tow with my truck. I'm going to need my own place too to start such a project. I get enough flak from having the Z around the house...lol Gareth, That is a beautiful boat! I love it!

    wooden dash?

Rosewood and spruce both look great. Mahogny is a little pricey but looks great. Look in aircraft and boat building supplier catalogs for very nice looking woods. I like teak...
  5. And how much they can "fail" your expensive engine...
  6. Dan Juday, Wow! It sounds like you really like sailing! For some reason I think the boat guys might have the best Z car fenders...LOL I found this wonderful little boat that is a 25 footer and custom built... BLACK SKIMMER I really like the plain interior although it is a little bit cramped. Capacity for 4 is fairly important for me though. Maybe if it was a little wider it would have a better capacity for more people I'm thinking of designing/building a little 10 footer this year just to get some experience in boat design. There are many good places to get inspiration on the web... HERE is an awesome buildup of a Vagabond 20 footer with a lot of photos.
  7. Sectioning doesn't have much to do with tire size. The taller the tire the more you will have to lower your strut. In fact with a taller tire you need the sectioned strut to lower the car. I have a stock length strut and use a 26" tall tire and with a fully bottomed out strut (no bump stop, just curious about how far down the car would go in the garage) I still had about 3.5" of ground clearance. You can mix adjustable struts with any spring(within reason) since they are independent of each other. I assume that you are meaning for an S30 Z.
  8. Looks like they had the VQ35 and 4 speed auto... Are you looking for a 5 speed manual or auto? Have you done a google search? Here is a link I found in about 8 seconds on a google search for "pathfinder transmission ratio" http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_help/html/Nissan/nissan_transmissions.htm
  9. Agreed. You can lower the car to very low with smaller tires and not making it to the bumpstops without sectioning...but sectioning is a good idea to free up strut travel and make a smooth ride and never bottoming out.
  10. I did my coilovers and illuminas for around $800(parts) and free welding. Unfortunately the modified stock upper spring caps make the coils rub on the threaded collar. To fix that requires camber plates and aftermarket top spring hats (about $400+ in parts and more free welding)
  11. Scott, I love flying a hull! Especially going solo on one of the cats. The very first day on the boats was spent learning how to flip them over properly and not kill ourselves. It was about 50 degrees outside on that day! I'm really liking that Amigo design. Lots of people complain about boats being such a drain on the wallet...but Z's are the same way! I hope to finish the design of my boat in about 2-3 years and then start aquiring parts and materials. Have any pics of your Grampian 26 Scott?
  12. Ever since last spring I have been into sailing when I took sailing class at college. My sailing partner and I got the highest scores in the class and won every race but one. We had 20 year old Hobie 16 catmarans that we raced in and some newer Hobie Getaways for cruising around. (slower.. but more controllable when lifted onto one hull) Ever since then I have thought about building a little monohull boat. Maybe a 20-25 footer or even smaller. Just something that I can pull with a small/ medium truck. Not a race boat, but something that could be taken on a weekend cruise and be comfortable for up to 4 people but still be quick enough to be fun. It should look like a classic boat with a nice dark wood deck. Something like this Glen-L 25 This AMIGO design is nice and a little more compact. Anybody here sail or have their own boat? I know it will take 4 or so years to build the thing and about $10,000-$14,000... Well worth the price though.
  13. I am betting that they will have the smaller ones that you can use on an L6 shortly...(HY35, HX35, HX40) Pity.
  14. Make sure your Holset has the word Holset on the compressor housing and that it has a blue tag that has the word Holset on it and part numbers etc... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HX50-turbocharger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ002QQitemZ120222392430QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW *note the item location* A few months ago I was looking at an importing website for turbo manifolds and saw chineese made "holset" turbos. Now they are selling them on Ebay. BEWARE because these are not the real thing. OTM
  15. Gijonas, That is really cool. I'm in the middle of buying a couple cars (LOW vin series 1) and dumping one so I might be ready to do some plastic forming in a few weeks.
  16. Yes this series one has some sort of rear flares... they will come off though unless they are YZ's..LOL I'm going to see the car tomorrow and put some money down on it...
  17. Frank, Its great to see your progress! What RPMs do you think you will get boost? This thing is going to be sweet!
  18. couple reasons. 1: Everything that I have done to the car can be transferred to another shell. 2: my shell is about 5mm out of straight(twisted) which normally wouldn't be a problem if I stayed L6... But I'm going to be building new motor and tranny mounts that will be able to be bolted in any straight Z so I need a straight car to work with. 3 Freakin low vin series 1? Once in a lifetime thing to get. I'll have my suspension and other parts in it right off the bat.
  19. Shell, transmission, diff/axles(potentially spoken for), windows hatch fenders, crossmembers, steering wheel/column and a couple bare L6 blocks if you want them... $200 and bring a trailer. I have a bunch of stock interior stuff that can be had for cheap. (panels, stock seats, headliner, carpet set, and a couple boxes of OE usec flywheel, springs, etc.. can be had for an extra $50 if your getting the shell) I'm pulling the brakes, suspension, gas tank, radiator, and motor tomorrow.
  20. I'll get rid of the parts car here or on Evilbay... I have to chuck the 260 body first. I have a feeling that there wil be a 260Z body at Pullapart by wednesday unless someone here acts quickly.
  21. Hey guys... I have found a VERY low vin (4 digits long and the first number is 3) 1970 240Z... It has the strap style seats. Should I get it? Oh... BTW its very cheap and includes a parts car.
