  1. The rustoleum isn't that hard to take off... For polising... an old T-shirt cut into strips and Mother's aluminum polish. Definitely not the best but it fit my budget. I'd sand more (up to 1500 grit) and use real paint polish(more fine) if I were to do it again.
  2. The 1/8th seems to give those without turbo lag the advantage. The 1/4 lets you get into hard boost for a long while.
  3. I think you need a bigger turbo Phil... The small HY35 turbine housing is probably causing the restriction and making the big fat cam unhappy. Something like a HX40 with a smaller 12cm^2 turbine housing would probably be a little happier with the big cam. Doesn't the HY35 have like a 7 or 9 cm^2 housing?
  4. Notice the hood flex in this low-speed video: This is an Ultra-thin fiberglass hood...
  5. I don't see why it would be harder to wetsand the paint after it has fully cured... Probably make it better to wetsand. It's a lot of work but it can look good.
  6. I get the "is that a Porsche?" ALL THE TIME! Of course I get more attention in the ol' beat up Z than the 944turbo!
  7. $3000 for a full swap setup with G35 motor, 6 speed, and ECU/harness. 11k miles! http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/525355486.html Just thought I'd let y'all know...
  8. So what were the valve specs on all of those heads? You probably don't want to give the specs on your DOHC Z head but what about all of those 2 valve L6 heads? I imagine that is with stock size valves w/ a 3 angle valve job? It's cool to have some numbers just to compare heads...
  9. Toyota should have the tool right? I'm guessing it is one of those expensive specialty tools...
  10. Ok...Now I know. Thanks guys! This may help others later on that find the same thing. It was an interesting idea. OTM
  11. I want to see how bad your Z was when being driven. I bought my Z the day before I turned 16 so it was my DD until 1.5 years ago. Drove it this way for about 3 weeks...Rambo knife vs. Z dash... Rambo knife:1 , Z dash: 0 Had to have the light...I delivered pizza in the car at night and had to see the ticket for the address I was delivering to...LOL. And the ghetto wiper switches in front of the shifter since the column ones never worked! This is why I re-wired the car after ditching the dash!!! It is amazing what you will drive when trying to rebuild your DD...LOL I was driving the car to the optional night classes (I went to day class) at welding school, yank the dash, work on my aluminum dash some, reinstall nasty dash, and drive home all in 4 hours! Oh, the good times...
  12. Austin, Looking good buddy! Going to make Zdayz this year? What's happening with that clean little MG back there?
  13. So when are we going to get a Z33 with a better motor? (VR38DE or bigger VQ?) It is about time for an upgrade...
  14. Oh yeah... in 2000 I was national points champion for my age group. In '05 I was state open category (anyone) champion and open category second place in '06. I quit being full-time nationally competitive at the end of '05. Too much $$$$$!!! Makes Z's look like pocket change! I have over 75 medals/trophies/cups boxed away in the back of the closet... OLD pic of some of them... Forgot to add sailing catmarans. (mostly old Hobie 16's and Getaways) Took sailing as a PE course at college in the spring 07 semester...
  15. DANG!... I've got the "same motor" with a couple extra cylinders...
  16. Hmm... That is the kind of Z that I'd restore and sell for $30k... floors are easy, dash can be re-covered, fix the hood(maybe splice in a section from another Z hood),original color paint, and boom! it's good to go!
  17. Paintball: Spyder AMG (electro-pneumatic, open bolt blowback, 15bps in semi-auto) and Tippmann 98 (open bolt blowback, 20" barrel, scopes, custom stock, ghille cover, 8 years old and ~25,000 rounds run through it!) The 260Z and all of that mumbo-jumbo... Drawing Playing with SolidWorks and designing car parts. I used to go mountain biking until I was riding my bicycle on the road and ended up shattering my jaw. How about this "Hobo Stove" that I made literally with tin cans out of garbage cans and a pair of tin snips that my Grandfather had from the 20's. Gets the middle inner can red hot...LOL Made from 3 small coffee cans, a big popcorn can, and a bunch of tin foil crumpled around the inner cans for insulation. I also got a grate from a stove in the city recycling center. I put good size rock(4"x4"x1.5") under the inner middle can to keep temps down on the bottom of the bigger can. It took about 2 hours and a bunch of cuts on my hands...but it works great!!! I can be cooking in 3-5 minutes! It actually smokes very little beause of the very high temperatures inside the combustion chamber. Also have to be careful with using aluminum pans...Warped some of mom's pans REALLY bad so I now use some OLD cast iron pans that were handed down to me from the same grandfather. The nice thing is that you hardly need any breeze for it to work. Even if there is no breeze you can get it started with breath power and then it will just about suck air in from the high velocity of the hot air creating a vacuum and pulling air in from the side.
  18. I just measured the ports on my VH Each runner has a 27mm diameter. Overall width of the two runners for one cylinder is 59mm.
  19. Here is a pretty cool 510... Illuminas, disc brakes, big sway bar... dunno how much he wants though. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/515409320.html
