  1. The early 74(same as 73...) bumper CAN be pushed back but you need to modify the ends by clearancing the material on the inside of the bumper to sit closer to the body.
  2. I hope to get my motor in and cranked before the end of the year.
  3. The earlier (1990-1995) VH45 has 8 seperate ports per side that are aprox. 26mm in diameter. The ports are very close to 60 degrees from horizontal. Basically the mounting surface is flat but the ITB's will need to be angled over 30 degrees to keep them most effective. Otherwise you will have a sharp kink in airflow. A divider is also going to be necessary to evenly divide airflow. I'll get some pics today.
  4. I second the "big sam" paint job Here is Big Sam PASSING a perfectly good GT40 on the outside... Isn't that Z tall??
  5. There are soo many good junkyards in N.C.! It's not fair!!! All we have near here is Pull-A-Part and they strip all the good motors before they it the yard (944's, Z32's, LSX motors, etc...) Fortunately Q45's get overlooked...hehe.
  6. Me on my second day of TIG welding with about 8 hours of practice total.(after a year of stick welding...) Neither of these have had any colors changed...Just stuck together as one file. No filters in front of the camera either. Taken with a 1.3 megapixel Fuji finepix It was TOP of the line when new...LOL
  7. I guess... I think it is hard(yet pliable) rubber with a steel cable inside. It is usually near the pre-made pinstripes. I think I got mine at Pep-boys but they all sould have it.
  8. I believe the VH45 has 112mm spacing for the intake runners (center to center). I'll need to double check though.
  9. No problem... It just turned from decently cheap head bolts at ACE hardware to ARP head STUDS...LOL I just wanted to know if I'd punch 83mm holes in my hood if I used them... I consider that a PRIVLIDGE that I CAN work on my OWN CAR. A majority of the people in this world have neither owned one nor even ridden in a car. Much less have the opportunity to build a hybrid Z car. Let's not act too spoiled now shall we? It seems to work fairly well. Just if I had the $$$ to do the proper upper mounts rather than the ghetto modified stock spring perches. I have noticed some rubbing on the threaded collar from the spring bending from the top seat. Definitely a good low dollar setup though to get one started on the suspension. My coilover setup cost less than my Illuminas! OTM
  10. MarcG's car is high revving and sounds REALLY exotic methinks.. Just if some "VRH35L" crankshafts could be sourced...
  11. To cover that metal edge you can get some fender beading stuff and it will slip over and hold fairly tightly. It is also used to put on the rear edge of your door so you won't lose paint when using the door as a tool to "move" other cars. They have it at autozone and other places for a couple dollars. Might be worth looking into. OTM ... I should have looked at page two first before posting this...LOL
  12. Here is a great site to read up on. I heard about the rule of thirds and it GREATLY influenced my photography. (just for those starting out and aren't normally "art people")
  13. Wow...What a threadjack... Anyway the ACE bolts have "8" stamped on them. Not "8.8" so I guess that means the're the equivalent of a 10.9 on the US system. For $40 that doesn't seem bad for a street motor. Some of us have VERY limited funds since there is a good majority of colege students here and we don't have access to buy head studs for 3-4X that price especially when building a V8 for the car(can't justify studs). The motor the head bolts are for doesn't eat head gaskets and never will. Mild 10.2:1 N/A L26 making MAYBE 160 horsepower on a good day. Its probably on it's last head gasket before getting scrapped for the V8 anyway. Better IMO than getting head bolts at a JY for $10 in used unknown condition that may be compromised already.
  14. What do the pistons look like when you pull the spark plugs? 10:1 CR and boost sounds like a REALLY bad idea for some reason. The E30 head came on the JDM L20A engines...supposedly 38CC combustion chambers. Never seen any pics of an E30 off an engine though. Sounds cool! You got a deal on that car! OTM BTW a 3.1 with that much compression should be able to spool just about any turbo out there that is smaller than a semi-truck turbo...LOL
  15. Aparently a New Jersey verizon cell phone number... Not ATL.
  16. Since we are bringing up old stuff... If anyone is interested, Found this 1971 510 wagon on C.L. here in ATL. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/483446135.html
  17. I have seen one Z32 in the JY that was stripped bare and was a shell with windshield. In the engine bay there was some rust where brake fluid had been dripping but other than that it was very rust free. Makes the Z32 a VERY viable option for a hybrid build since you can get a nice one(relatively) with a dead motor for around a grand. Makes me second-guess my 260 a little bit... I am looking at getting into the Z32 crowd a little bit now. OTM
  18. I don't think Nissan made a P80... You should have either a P79 or a P90. The P90 head came on the turbo cars and the P79(N/A cars) is almst identical except that the exhaust ports are round rather than rectangular. There are several in depth discussions here on HybridZ about the different Z car heads. THIS ONE FOR EXAMPLE Hope that helps, OTM
  19. Mike, Sorry to hear you have had so much trouble! That is definitely a bad job on the wiring! Whenever you need some extra hands fixing or installing stuff just let me know. I hardly trust any shop working on my cars. Even changing tires... Hope it gets worked out and that your vette is fine! Dan
  20. Well I was looking through this HUGE Ace hardware the other day and I found some bolts that look to be the identical same part as an L6 head bolt. It's a class 8 bolt and it is black just like an L6 head bolt. Will these work? I am currently using some 200,000 mile headbolts on my motor and am a little wary about them. The next time I go there I'll take one of each size head bolt and check out the lengths. Class 8 is 130,000 PSI minimum yield strength, correct? They are at a good price too.
  21. "shift around 8500 for reliability" LOL!!!
  22. hmm... And you can play until 8000rpm right? WOW
  23. I just have a breather on my valve cover... but you will have more bad smell in the cabin. Whenever you get bored and stick an L28 in there I'll be interested in that crankshaft... LOL
  24. When do you expect that puppy to spool on the 2jz 3 liter? I'm looking at a slightly smaller turbo for my 4.5 liter...LOL
