  1. Wow, Thats sweet. Hopefully I can atleast follow up into the 12's later this sumer but, man that MPH is nice. Can't wait to see what effect the cam has on it.
  2. If you can you might try hooking the O2 sensor back up. That would help it to adjust the A/F ratio while at idle.
  3. I'm toying with the idea of buying and new intercooler. What I have now is a HKS intercooler kit that is still on the market. I've been happy with the kit for the most part but, I think I'm losing effeciency when I want to go past 14 psi. The core is 12x9x2.5 and has 2" pipe connecting it. I've been doing some looking around on ebay at a couple of different units and I'm now curiuos as to what design is better or the pros and cons of each. This would be the third unit on the car and would like to have a unit that will flow enough for 500 hp or so. Right now I'm set up to be in the 350 to 375 range. Currently I'm making about 320 (13.4 @ 108) at the crank with the stock DP and 3" cat back. Lockjaw hooked me up with some flanges for the turbo and I have all the 3"manderal bent pipe to make a new DP. Now I just need the time to do it. After the new DP is on I'm thinking that should really free up a few ponies. Hopefully I'll upgrade the turbo in the next year or two and so and and so forth with different mods.
  4. Congradulations on getting it up and running. Looking forward to hear what kinds times it gonna run.
  5. Well, Back to my downpipe build. I fianally got the pipe and it's sitting in my computer room right now. As soon as I get finished with a couple more projects I'll get started on my DP for my car. If it turns out good and doesn't take a year for me to build then I'll look into if anyone wants another one made that is just bare bones.
  6. I have that same welder and the spools are 8 bucks at Lowes for .35 flux cored wire. It works great for the projects I've done so far. How did I ever live without it?
  7. I would say that's about right. I used to have a 83 N/A 2+2 with a few mods and the one time I took it to a 1/4 track I ran a 16.5 @ 85. Atleast thats what I remember it could have been a touch slower then that.
  8. Thanks for the info. Now, I just have to find time to work on the car again.
  9. Ok I'm finally getting around to installing the JWT system I bought used about a year ago. I have everything hooked up as best as I can tell but, I need to know where the fuel pump relay is in the '82 ZXT. All I have is to do a few more connections on this part and I'm done. I can't wait! I've been dreaming of big boost power for so long it doesn't seem real that I'll be there.. Thanks for any help.
  10. If the details get worked out right I might be intreasted in the group piston buy as well. I've realy been thinking about going with a stroker of these deminsions.

    exhaust cooler

If you weree to reduce the tempature of the exhaust before it enters the turbo it would have a negative effect on the performance of your vehicle. Once again you must have the heat aswell as the volume or flow of the exhaust to power the turbine blades. I really suggest you do so reading on turbocharging. A good book on the subject is Maximun Boost by Corky Bell. You can pick it up at your local book store for 20 bucks or so. I do think I know what you are trying to do. Let me see if I can get it right. You are wanting to lower the tempature of the intake air by lowering the exhaust gas temp. First off the intake and the exahust sides are totally seperate from one another. The heat in the intake air comes from the compression of the air not from the hot turbine section of the turbo. If you could change the laws of nature you could make the intake be as compressed as you wanted and not have any heat built up. Since you can't change these things you have to run an intercooler to reduce the intake tempature to a manageable level. Your right in thinking that cooler air is better but, cooling the exhaust side is not the way to get there. Have a good one.
  12. I don't know for sure but, if I had to guess I would say it's for a coupe and does not come witht he adapter. I could be wwrong ofcourse.

    exhaust cooler

Why would you want to cool the exhaust gases going into the turbo? You not only need the pressure or flow of the exhaust to spool your turbo but, you must have the heat that is provided by the combustion process. You need to do what ever you can to keep the heat in the manifold so that it can flow through the turbo. After that who cares what happens to the heat. Many people coat thier manifolds with Jet-Hot or similar products to help spool time of the turbo and to keep heat out of the engine bay. It just so happens that it looks cool.
  14. Well, let me tell you that JB Weld works good if you accidently go all the way through. Just ask how I know........ Anyway, find yourself a spare manifold and have it done right and then while you at it port your exhaust manifold if it's turbo or put on some headers on when you swap the intake manifolds.
  15. What I don't understand is why this is just now being addressed in a manner such as this? I have never broken a Dampner or whatever you want to call it but, obivously several people have in the time line of the L-series engine. What have the other guys done in the past to fix this proublem. I don't remember reading anything about this in my internet searches for all information Z-car related. I'm wondering now that if someone changes the cam and starts to pull the engine to 7000 or so should they also purchase a new oem dampner or maybe the one that Jeff is helping to develop?
  16. utvolman99, My Dad really did nothing but, drive the truck back and forth to work and pulled his boat with it a few times. I really thing he bought it 'cause he was looking a 'vettes and didn't want to spend that much. Not only that he is what I would call a semi-pro bass fisherman and really needed a truck for when he boat pulling truck was down or something. The Lighting when I drove it wasn't broken in yet but, he said that right before he traded it in he took it out and had some fun it like he did when he had his '65 GTO.(back in the day of course) He said it was increadable and almost backed out of the trade since he had a real taste of what the truck would do. Really the Dodge is more of what he needed with 4 doors and all. Now if they made a four door Lighting or even extended cab I think he would have had one of those....Heres my opinon on the two trucks. Lighting-faster, better handling, better looks, way more fun factor, BLOWN Dodge Hemi-more room, better gas mileage, more practicle and still a strong truck It's a Hemi and thats sweet.
  17. My Dad just bought a new Dodge with the Hemi motor and while it's a great motor for a truck and pull like you know what it's nothing compared to his last truck a 2002 Lighting. That was a Bad A$$ truck. I still can't believe he traded it in for a Dodge... Oh well
  18. Good looking pics. Do you have the A/C now?
