  1. I finally got to see what my car can do with latest round of mods. Last night while coming home from Caddo Lake in East Texas we were next to a LS1 Trans Am. We had been just following each other for about 2 hours when we had btoh had enogh and got side by side with traffic far enough ahead. At about 70 mph we both hit the gas. I was was in third gear for just a second then shifted into fourth and left him. I had a full tank of gas and a bunch of junk in the hatch that we had for the day the lake. Needless to say the car was a little heavier than it's normal race weight. After taking him for the second time he rolled down his window and gave me thumbs up. I guess he was surprised my old Datsun was that fast. He proublably thought this will be easy and look good for his girl. He sure got a surprise. It took me about an hour to come down off that high.
  2. EFI would really be the way to go for the a turbo car. Not sure which one would be best though. Not many aftermarket computers are setup to run 12 cylinders. It would be sweet to have a V-12 with twin turbos.
  3. I agree that the Bosch unit is RRFPR but, it is set up to be adjustable in the form of 2:1 or more what ever you need. You would have to change out the diaphram in it every time you wanted to change you setting. I don't like that type when there are better units out there that can be adjusted without takein the FRR apart. Sleeper; I disagree while it's not exactly a perfect solution to increasing fuel to the motor under boost it is very cost effective and can be tuned to make good power. Obviously, you can't just slap this thing on and go to town with 20 psi or anything. It's good to about 13 psi give or take with a car that has all the other basic turbo upgrades. ie. intercooler, F. pump etc.. I ran one for several years and while my current setup is vasytly superiour in everyway it's also much more costly. You get what you pay for. Right? bastaad525; if your looking to increase your FP to run more boost I suggest the Cartech model of RRFPR. It is much more user friendly. Also I suggest that you get the car running and get used to 7 psi before upping the boost. Really it would make more sense to make sure the motor and all the wiring is sound before turning up the wick on the motor.
  4. The ten dollar one doesn't look like it would be the right thing for you. It's not setup with hose connections like the stocker. Not that it couldn't be adapted but, sounds to me like you have bigger things to work on for your swap. The bosch unit looks more like what you need. You could raise the fuel pressure the amount you need to run 12 to 14 psi when you have an intercooler. If your only going for ten psi and nothing more then the 100.00 one with the gauge looks good. In fact that one and the bosch unit look like they would be a good combination to use together. Use the one with the gauge to set your base FP and the bosch unit to set FP while under boost.
  5. How do you come about 2 of them like that. I wish I could buy them. That would be perfect for my wife and I.
  6. Sure let me know what I need top do. I may have to work on Sat.(not sure yet) But, on Sunday I should be able to free up a few hours.
  7. I don't think it gets any better than what Spotfitz is saying!!! Wow, Looks like a good setup to me.
  8. For that price I would go ahead and get some. I have the Corbeau seats that look similar to those and I'm very happy with them. At the time that I bought them I would have proubably bought the Pepboys model because of price. Also if your seats are as crapped out as mine were then you really need new seats.
  9. Addison is not that far from me. About 20 to 30 miles depending on where in Addison your talking about. The only bad thing about that city is the congestion. It's in an upper end area of the Metroplex and for whatever reason the streets are small and theres lots of traffic. Ofcourse that doesn't mean a thing when your picking up your Z car for the first time. I honestly wouldn't be able to store or let the car sit for more than a couple of days (week or so). Does it have an inspection and registration. That makes a difference. It would have to sit in front of the house for now. I already have one non running car in the back. If it's running and inspected and all that then it really shouldn't be that big of a deal I guess. If it's non running and does not have upto date tags then the police will tag it.
  10. I figured U-haul would be expensive but, I didn't think that much. If you were to fly down I'll let you work on the car at my house to get it running. Not sure if that would be an option but, it might help. I personally don't know a think about carbs but, how hard could they be? I ment that as a joke. Really I don't know a think about carbs but, I could help with getting the head on and all that junk. Air tools and a garage are nice.
  11. Len, Make sure you have all the anti-rattle clips in place that shoudd help some. One thing that I have seen on the ZX rear brakes is that there is just a very slight movment of the pad in the caliper. This movement in time wears away the metal on the pad and they begin to click or rattle while driving down the road. If you hit the brake the noise will go away. Also try replacing the pads and the noise should go in the trash with the old pads.
  12. I know what ya mean. Ever since I installed the JWT computer and the downpipe I can't get a race. Now if my wife drives the car she comes home everytime and tells me about her latest kill in the Z. Whats up with that?
  13. Fly down here and rent a U-Haul one way. I'm sure it would still be expensive but, the trip would be nice. How not running is it?
  14. Looks like you really go through the first couple of gears. Nice run.
  15. Honestly I'm not sure. Did the link change? Maybe I posted on the wrong topic. Sorry.
  16. wow, I don't think you really be able to oull all that off and be able to have it installed. If you found some good deals then you might could buy all the parts but, it;s the labor cost that will eat up alot of that money.
  17. Those look nice it's ashame to out those in the engine block and no one will be able to see them unless something is wrong. Let me change that to very wrong.
  18. What about using this pan from Arizona Z is it only for the "Z" cars aswell? Maybe you could sell the one you have that won't fit and use this one or fabricate your own.
  19. Nice #'s Tim. Time to crank the boost and see what it'll do. I'm sure your ready as well. Where did you get the J/Y motor?
  20. Thats same as my HKS model only longer than what I have. Not to hard to plumb but, it might be easier if the inlet and outlet were both coming out at the top.
  21. Heres the link. Wish I could afford it right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34202&item=2420355560
