  1. Thats cool. Might have to do that next time.
  2. I believe the turbo water pump is slightly different than the N/A pump.
  3. The AFM shouldn't give you any trouble unless you mess with it. Yes, some of the sensors can give some crazy information proublems if they get dirty. Just clean them and they should be fine. I would go ahead and clean all your grounds just in case. There is one that most people miss; it's almost under the AFM. Take a good look around and you'll find it. FYI--If you replace the turbo then make sure you replace the oil line. You've proubably heard that before but, I thought I'd add it.
  4. Sounds to me like he needs to learn some lessons in customer service.
  5. Wow, that hurt!!It's gonna leave more than a mark!
  6. That was the best comercial I've ever seen. I especially like the reference the "Office Space" "You've got to have a cover sheet on your TPS reports"
  7. They really seem to be just as relieable as the regular Z cars. The only things that I haven't broken myself and have had to replace more than once are the waterpump and the alternator. I have upgraded hadlights and a high power stereo so that may be the cause for the alternator being suspect. I've had 4 ZX's and other than a starter or two I don't think I've really replaced much that really needed to be replaced. Knock on wood but, I've never been left on the side of the road with one. Everything else that I've replaced has been either because I just wanted to or was given plenty of notice before what ever part was going to go out.
  8. Vinh, I still haven't gotten around to it yet but, hope to by the end of March at the very latest. When I do I'll be sure to get ahold of you and see if you need anything. Why is it when you have plenty of money for these kind of things you have no time to do them. Or when you have time you have no money to spend on go fast stuff.
  9. I spent many a hour on forklifts.. I agree thats some funky grease. Sometimes we would have to climb up the mast just a touch and I always got that stuff on my new pants.
  10. I agree just buy the metric tools from 7mm to 17mm is all that you will need to get started. A good set of wrenches will help as well. Don't forget a basic set of screwdrivers. You'll almost only need the phillips head but, the straight blade comes in real handy at times. If you want some tools to keep then go with atleast the Sears or maybe a set from Lowes. If your looking for stuff to just get the job done then go with the cheap stuff. I bought some decent screwdrivers from BigLots before.
  11. Bob or RatedZ, Have you checked the helpers list? Good idea about using one of the members here.
  12. All that does sound crazy, I personally would try to buy one of the intercoolers from a real site that is nationally known or highly recommended by one of us here on the board. Yes, you proubably would have some sort of recourse through the post offfice but, I'm guessing that would take longer than you would want to wait to get your money or the product. I'm not saying this guy is bad or anything but, it's starting to look funny. Here's agood example of what is out there on the net. You've proubably seen this before but, it doesn't hurt to look again. Also didn't Shane just buy a huge intercooler not to long ago? Anybody remember what he paid?
  13. All I'm getting is Red X's... Is it just me?
  14. That turbo would be to small and it has a different mounting pad. Sorry
  15. He hasn't even hit the ground yet. Has he? I'm trying to figure out exactly he did that.
  16. Welcome aboard You'll need the 81 harness since it's alittle differnt due to the crank angle sensor being mounted in a different place. You might try Zcar.com to see if anyone has one for sale. I see them on there ocasionally.
  17. I've never used one but, I think they will do for you as long as you don't go much over stock boost. No 20 PSI boost runs is what I mean. You might look at some of the Mustang SVO sites to see about how effective they are.
  18. Well, I called the owner on Friday but, he ofcourse was out doing something important and would have to get back to me. Today the guy that runs the shop called and wanted to know what I wanted to do. I flat out old him I would not pay full price for it considering the situations involved. He said I thought you talked to the owner? I told him I tried but, he would not call me back. He called the owner and called me back with a much better offer. I pay parts he pays labor. Sounds almost fair to me and I think thats what I'll have to take. I want to thank everyone for thier advise and sound ideas. I'm a pretty even tempered person but, this situation really got me worked up.
  19. Right car, wrong name. My Oppsss
  20. That was actually done. Just the way Scott described pretty much. I rememeber that from few years ago. I could be telling a story here but, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that is J.Taylors car. You know the orange turbo 240 with the sweet 18" rims. Anyone following me here?
  21. I think most turbine housings have small cracks. Atleast all the ones that I have and have seen do. No biggie. Can you determine where the sound is coming from? Try using some flamable fluid (starting fluid-WD-40)to spray around to see if the engine idle changes when sprayed in a certain area.
  22. Welcome!!! The BOV must be put in between the turbo and the throttle plate. The whole purpase of the BOV is to vent pressure build up in this area from flowing back and hitting the compressor blades. This could possibly cause damage to the compressor blade and it definately makes a crazy sound.
