  1. lol... If you find those spark plugs John, take a picture for us . !M!
  2. How about oil filters. My buddy started to do an oil change on his girlfriends new Jeep Liberty, when he finds out that the oil filter would not come off, so he gives me a call. I go over there and I just couldn't believe how this vehicle was engineered from a maintenence standpoint. You could see the oil filter, you could work your arm into a small spot to actually touch the oil filter, but were you able to turn it? Yeah, about 1 degree! This was her first oil change and that filter was really on there! I was able to grab it with a small channel locks (the ONLY tool that was able to fit in the small spot) and squeeze it and turn it just a little bit before the channel locks hit a part of the engine compartment. Just as we were about to say screw it and take it to the local dealer the next morning and let them deal with it, I figured I would give it one more try... well, I sqeezed a little to hard, and the channel locks pireced the oil filter. Now there was oil everywhere. Man was this a mess. It eventually came off, but not after we removed the front sway bar and a few accessories in the engine compartment. It took three hours! I told my buddy that I would pay him to take in the Jeep Liberty to the dealer next time. Lesson learned? NEVER EVER EVER EVER DO AN OIL CHANGE ON A JEEP LIBERTY! !M!
  3. Welcome to the board! You might want to check out this site for an idea of what has to be done and what others have done. Granny's Speed Shop Good luck !M!
  4. WOW! I love those lines Sure looks like it can do this ! !M!
  5. I always liked the idea of turbines in a car, boat, motorcycle, ect. If you want to see a bad@ss boat check this out here . If you like to see other turbines in action, check out this bike first, then look at the other stuff they have to offer here Just look at the power and wieght of these engines. !M!
  6. Cool video. Couldn't help but notice that it was a little biased towards Castrol . So... if I use Castrol, my vehicles will do all of that. That's what I got out of it anyways . !M!
  7. 80LT1, I can't remeber if I had mentioned something once before or not, but where are you located? It's funny you mentioned the Cessna 172, my buddy and I are renting a 172 tommorow from a local airport here. !M!
  8. I hear ya Len! My airdam was taken off by a low flying racoon. My only problem was that little bugger didn't have any insurance. Go figure... animals these days . Glad AT&T is helping you with the matter. Hey, I remember you saying that you were going to leave us and go to Japan or something to teach? I noticed you're still around. Can't get enough of Cali and the Z hey ?
  9. I'm not sure what color I'm painting the car as of yet. I painted my last car (which you can now see on my site ) almost the same color as my suspension, so I'm leaning towards something a bit different, a bit darker this time. Dan, Chevy WON the tug of war! It started to drag the Ford backwards! Thanks for the nice comments guys! !M!
  10. Pretty much, yes. I have 17x7 with the same offset. You can get a 9" wide wheel in the back with coilovers (I will someday ), so 7.5" won't be a problem for you. I just finished my own little web space tonight You can see my stuff here if you like. !M!
  11. Whoa, your Dad did that? That's pretty cool! Do you have any pictures of the TTTA that you can share with us? !M!
  12. Because it cost a lot of $$$$$$$$! !M!
  13. The differential can take lots of power, it's the u-joints that fail. Do a search and you will have tons of information on the R200 differential and what it can take. Heck, who was that... 1tuffZ or 1fastZ, or one heck of a Z, but he had his Z in the 9's on the stock IRS. If it's going to be a drag only car, I would consider a solid rear end for more reasons than just the u-joints though. !M!
  14. Well, when you spend a lot of time on something, you just have to show it off . My buddies would get a kick out of me putting the suspension bits out on the coffee table. Larry, you might start a new fad carrying around that "shortenend to 20.5 inch aluminum Corvette drive shaft". Next thing we know, there will be kids all over the place carrying thier custom parts with them for all to see. I can just see it now, "I don't have me car with me right now, but check out my tripple decker wing that I'm going to install!" !M!
  15. Looks high tech... or the guy that built it was high . !M!

    R160 differential

The R160 has come up a number of times, but I can't remember if anyone actually used one in thier Z. Is anyone running a subie diff.? Any feedback on the longevity of them? !M!
  17. Man, things just aren't the way they used to be. !M!
  18. DOH! I've seen a 280Z with the same setup (ST) as I have for my 240Z. So are they interchangeable, just sold as two different kits, or am I just mistaken? !M!
  19. Well, if you're going to run , may as well do it in style. !M!
  20. You probably have the right Tokico's. What I have found is that there is 2 or 3 different gland nuts. Each one is different, by that I mean each one will allow more or less room inside the strut tube when the gland nut is tightened down. I would use some large washers placed inside at the bottom of the strut tube to raise the cartridge up to allow the gland nut to hold the cartidge in place. !M!
  21. Jaime, The coilovers are from Mike Gibson (SCCA). They are good quality and easy to install. I sectioned my struts 1.5" and used 10" 175 lb. springs in the front and 8" 200 lb. springs in the rear. It was a lot of fun to install these. I did have problems getting " the most stuck strut ever " strut cart out and ended up having to buy an entire front suspension off one of our members here, but all in all, the conversion was easy. I also used Tokico 5-way adjustables. I needed some spacers (just some washers) at the bottom of the strut tube to raise the cart to be able to tighten the gland nut down properly. For my application, I needed to cut and weld, because I sectioned my struts. FYI, it is possible to just place the threaded sleeve on the weld from the original spring perch and not have to section the strut. The only cutting you would do is cutting off the old lower spring perch. IMO, I guess you wouldn't have to cut it off, but it may look kinda tacky if you left it on. About the pictures, yeah I would like to see the coilovers and my 17"'s on my car also , but I haven't put the suspension back on my car yet. I'm still waiting for my bumpstops from MSA to complete the conversion. I will post pics when I get it all done, hopefully sometime in the near future, but I'm in no rush to fully complete my Z, for the stupid salt trucks dumped stupid salt on the stupid roads around here . !M!
  22. As far as I know, the ST 240Z kit is the same as the ST 280Z kit. !M!
  23. John, Check out the search function, it's in the upper righthand corner. You may find out what you need to know just by searching. If you want to go another route (coilovers), then check out my setup a few posts down under "What's that Mat? You finished your coilovers?". I have been working on and off on my suspension for months! A few minutes here a few minutes there... it took awhile, but it's worth it in my opinion. My option was a bit more expensive than going with lowering springs and good strut cartidges. If you want to see my setup in person before I put it back on the car, then shoot me an e-mail in the next few days. !M!
