  1. Imagine full throttle on that baby... then you hit a speed bump. I now have this wierd mental image of Superman !M!
  2. Yup! Finally had time to finish my coilover setup. Been so busy lately, I thought I would never get them done. I had so much fun cutting and welding, it was a blast! I'm a Carpenter by trade, so working with metal is very different for me, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Just this last week I had time to blast my suspension bits and prime and paint them. The color shows a little to bright in the pictures, but the effect I was going for is right on. I wanted a deep blue metalic that would look black from a distance, but if you dropped down and looked at the suspension up close, you would see the cool blue metalic color. Now I'm just waiting on my bump stops from MSA and I'm all set to put the suspension bits back on. What sucks is that last night the EVIL SALT TRUCKS came out of hidding and now I can't drive my toy 'till next spring . !M!
  3. Welcome aboard! That's "J Taylor"'s Z. Wheels are 18X8 TSW Trophies. Not sure on the suspension. Here's his web page, but it's not working right now for some reason. www.oldschoolracing.net !M!
  4. About 19 3/8" from crankshaft center to the top of the .... can't remember the name of it, but it's the little black thingy with the vacuum hoses attatched to it that sits on top of the TB. !M!
  5. IMO, you need to be able to stop before you throw in some power. Also, you are asking this question on Hybridz, so subconsciencely (sp?)you knew which way we would lean towards . Hmmm... bigger engine possibly? !M!
  6. RatedZ, I'm going to be in Vegas this coming January for my sisters wedding. Maybe we could hit a club or three . P.S. It's brakes not breaks . !M!
  7. Guy, I think you're going to need adapters to fit them. !M!
  8. Oh my.... drooling.... it's got style and power! I want one. No, I'm serious. Here's one: 1969 TVR Vixen S2 Now, I'm not to sure of it's butt. Looks kinda funny. It's like hearing a sexy voice on the other end of the phone, then when you see her in person, she'g got a big @ss! That's the best I can describe what I'm feeling here. !M!
  9. Let me look tommorow and I'll post them for you. What's the purpose of the 944? Street, track, 1320? !M!
  10. Haha, I hear this stuff from soooo many people that I have done jobs for. I'm not poking fun at you. People think it's a "lets plan this and it will happen" type thing, but it's far from that. They always end up with less hair than they started with . There is always that person or people that never show up when they are supposed to and then your schedule is now worthless. I really wish I could help you out, but I'm just to far away. If you have any questions regarding the building of your garage, then feel free to drop me an e-mail, I know I can help you. I'm glad it's coming together. It may give you headaches, but think about how cool it will be and let that be your motivation. Keep plugin at it man! !M!
  11. I heard of a guy that bolted that into a 240Z. The cops tried to pull him over, but they couldn't catch him. From what I hear, he's pretty fast . Anyways, who does the oil change on that thing? Exxon? !M!
  12. Here's something I have been kick'n around for a few years now, ready.......... Glow In The Dark Paint . Yes, you heard me right. You can pick this stuff up pretty cheap now. I just haven't figured out how to apply it and put a clear coat on it yet (haven't tried to hard). You could draw any design you want with a flashlight, of course it would only work at night. But, in daytime your car would look kinda off white/yellow. But still, have you seen this done before? I sure haven't. !M!
  13. I think everyone here can admit to doing that at least once . Funny picture though! !M!
  14. Damn woman drivers! Probably a blonde too... Just kidding Glad she's alright. !M!
  15. I'm still a newbee at suspension stuff, but my guess is if you have the same rates, then you would be bucking like a bronco if you hit a bump at a certain speed. Am I even close? !M!
  16. If you like, you can check out Jeromios site here . He has 17X8 wheels with a 20mm offset and no spacer was needed. Sometimes you can just get lucky with these cars. !M!
  17. No, I'm talking about the '89 TTA, not the slow @ss quadrajet from the early '80's. The '89 TTA is where it's at! Now, that car is fun . !M!
  18. Yup, 3.0 heads on the TTA. !M!
  19. That's some rather instresting plumbing... I would like to hear more about this car as well. !M!
  20. Pete, THANK YOU! I noticed that your name popped up on the recent visitors list then dissapeared for 10 minutes or so then reappeared. Moments later, I'm reading your post. Thanks for checking that out for me, I really appreciate it Pete. I also have 17's for my Z but I don't have the 9" wide rear wheels yet . Your info helped me out a lot. Thanks again, Mat !M!
  21. Check a few posts down for "Here's a fun swap donor". I wouldn't want one of the new M3 engines, but if I was given one, I would take it! If I was to get an M3 engine, it would be from an E36 and turbo the sucker. European Car was making 355 hp and 358 ft.lbs. with 10 psi. on pump gas! With 104 octane they hit over 400 ft.lbs. with 13 psi. This is just a killer, race proven, reliable engine. Then again, the L28 turbo is almost the same power wise and reliable to boot. !M!
  22. Pete, you have the same suspension setup as I will have (I need to install it). 10" coilovers in front and 8" coilovers in the rear with 5" threaded sleeves. I'm kind of in a bind here and my question for you is, where did you weld your spring perch on the fronts as well as the rears. Can you help me out and measure from the bottom of your strut up to where the bottom of the threaded sleeve is? My struts are sectioned 1.5" as well as yours. I will have Carrera camber plates up front, but for $131.25 ea. I'm not sure I will go that route as of yet. I heard they aren't the best. As for the rears I don't want camber plates, so I'm using the stock rubber mount and using some muffler tubing to locate the spring. How did you get the camber right on the rear? Did you slot the top of the strut towers? On a side note, I got a nasty letter from the old folks home where I keep my car. I have had the car up on jack stands for, well, quite a few months now and I'm not supposed to work on my car there. I have all my suspension bits at home. I need to get my suspension done VERY soon, so I can get it back on the ground. I can't loose this spot, especially right before winter. Could you help me out Pete? Thanks, Mat !M!
  23. Chris, the reason is this $$$. The biggest tap I could find when the same thing went through my head was 1.5" and that tap alone was $133.56 - $200.34 . So, I imagine that's the reason why people tend to simply cut and weld. !M!
  24. Did you make those floors yourself? Looks decent Pete. !M!
  25. They have made a stock aluminum block? Wonder how many of your kids that will cost you? ...just found out what a block costs, $~3,800.00 I'm told that when is all said and done, you'll have around $12k tied up in the engine itself. I'll take the wieght penalty and stick with my stock block and stock heads for a fraction of the cost of an aluminum block and still be wickedly quick for a Z car . !M!
