Simon, I don't have anything to add, but I almost pissed my pants when I read your sig. "I'm desperately trying to figure out why Kamikaze pilots wore helmets" OMG, that's some funny sh1t!! !M!

You know, just for the heck of it and for sh1ts and giggles, I went through some old posts of mine from way back when. It was when I first started working on the suspension of my car, and I just wanted to see if I had learned anything since then... when I ran across this post ... it really meant a lot to me... with you guys not knowing a thing about me and you were trying to help me out. Who knew that a little later I would suffer a stroke that realy messed me up... sorry getting kind of emotional guys. Now my freinds are telling me that I'm not the same person anymore, kinda pisses me off, I think I'm the same guy. Oh well, I still have a bunch of open minded guys that have the same passion as I do. I'm glad I found this site !M!

Ooops! I misunderstood the whole destroying of the mold thing, it was the pattern that you destroyed Nice @ss car Julian! !M!

I didn't feel like reading through all those pages, so what happened in the end? All I know is some kid that works at a dealership took out a new "COBRA VERT" and beat on it. !M!

WOW!! The whole car is just, well... I think the word I'm looking for is . What gets me is the fact that it took him 3 years to build the body for his car, then he destoyed his mold, because it "had to be done". !M!

energy suspensions poly bushings dont fit!!!
CruxGNZ replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yes, you have to remove the metal shell that the old bushings were in. Use a hacksaw or a sawzall or what have you to cut it. Easiest way to do it is to make two cuts about 1/4" apart and use a standard screwdriver to pry them out. You do this on all the old bushing spots, but DO NOT remove them from the mustache bar. !M! -
This is just another example of my theory. "Just because you have a lot of money, doesn't necessarily mean you're smart". I see this proven day after day by the idiots driving their BMW's, Mercs, high priced sport ute's, ect. Yapp'n on the phone, cutting me off, because they think the are gods gift to the earth and we shall all bow down to them. Who cares if you're some hot blond driving a nice bimmer. Screw 'em. Ahh... sorry, I was just cut off by a dumb blond about a half hour ago. It's still on my nerves. I mean, she didn't even notice what she did! Even with me laying on my horn with my finger out the window. She just played it like I wasn't even there! Dummies... !M!

I was going to go with alchohol injection on my GN engine, but have since heard word that it isn't the smartest thing to do, because in my location, we have reformulated fuel. I haven't researched this yet. Do any of you have information on this? !M!
-
Chris, What bushings are you replacing the old ones with? You may have to cut out the metal shell that the old ones used to sit in, but I think that may only be the case with the Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings. Use the search feature in the upper right hand corner of your screen and research this. !M!

You will get different opinions on the best way to remove them. Personaly, I like to burn them out with a propane torch. I was talking to a Corvette shop the other day when the topic of getting old bushings out came up. I was told that for years, they have been taking out the old bushings by burning them out. It's not the cleanest solution to getting them out, but it will work. You can also drill holes in the bushing and kind of cut it up and push it out. But, if you have a press, I would use that, less messy. Just my $.02 Oh yeah, welcome to this cool site!! !M!

Proportioning Valve Install 72 240Z
CruxGNZ replied to Miles's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Miles, You want to install the APV in the line that goes to the back brakes. I have a '73 and the stock PV was on the firewall, so I don't know if mine is the same as yours, but I took my stock PV out and gutted it. It was very easy and simple to do. This way, you have less hard lines to redo. Take into consideration that you may want to locate your APV inside the car. I felt that I needed to place mine inside, because: A) At the time I didn't know what brake pads I was going to use. Didn't know what my exact brake setup was going to be at the time. C) Didn't know what size (width) wheels I was going to have. D) Didn't know what tire compound I was going with at the time. Unless you are certain that the brake system you are going with will need very little tweaking, then you may want to install the APV inside the car. FYI, this is just me talking though. I like the fact that I can change brake bias while in the car and not have to park the thing and pop the hood to make adjustments everytime. There are also many other things that will affect your brake bias other than what I listed, some more than others, especially when you have messed around with the wieght bias of your Z (I'm assuming that you are talking about your SBC powered Z), even though the wieght difference is minute. !M! -
No problem . !M!

They aren't direct bolt in swapable to 240/260/280/280ZX's -84 through 89 R200's used a 12mm bolt in the ring gear. Earlier R200's used a 10mm bolt in the ring gear, so you can not swap gear sets with the older R200's Side note: -85 and 86 200SX Turbo has the (4.11) (R200) REMEMBER that this is the way the cars came STOCK!

Aww, come on! You have to admit that it's fun to drive a truck when it's raining, snowing, damp out, or whatever. It's just so much fun to get it sideways then bring it back under control, when the people next to you or behind you think you're loosing it and freak out. My personal favorite is when it snows out, man you just can't beat kick'n the @ss end out of a 2 ton truck at speeds over 45 mph and keep it going and going and going... I always tell people that you have to do it, because if you ever did loose control of your vehicle, then you would know what to do in that situation . !M!

HAAHAHA!!!! I hear that! To true, to true. !M!

Sure RainX is good and all, but once you start using it, you can't stop using it. If you do stop using the stuff, then the winshield starts to haze up and it won't clear very well with the wipers. Just my $.02 !M!

Your right about parking lots being private property. The cops can't do a thing to you, UNLESS they call the owner of the property you are on and tell them what happened, then if the owner wants to, they can press charges, which really sucks by the way. Like those stop signs and what not that you have to stop for at your local mall, you don't have to stop at all, as long as there isn't a person in front of you . It's just that if a cop see's you do this, they CAN pull you over for questioning. While on private property, use your best judgment or obey the signs. That's just the way I drive though. I am in no way telling anyone to drive like a nut. !M!

I've been pulled over so many times, it doesn't bother me anymore. You just have to remember that the guy that has his cherries on behind you is just like you in the sense that he is a person too, and you should treat him the same way you would like to be treated, not as a cop (the guy that ruins all the good fun) or the guy with a gun. You have to see things from thier point of view. If you get jumpy and act all wierd, then some sh1t is gonna go down, but if you keep it cool, you're all good. If you're lucky, you know them or you know someone that works with them, and you can easily get out of the ticket. If you get the chance, and they aren't in a hurry, try to shoot the sh1t with them for a while, get to know thier names and what they like to do. Trust me, it comes in handy! Man, I'm just remebering when I first got pulled over, 16 years old, had my liscense for not even a week and I was in my parents minivan. I was zipping through this nieghborhood like I owned it, little did I know that a cop was TRYING to keep up with me. Eventually I saw his lights and had to pull over. What a nice guy he was, he said, "Here's the deal, I can give you a ticket for reckless driving and speeding then your insurance will go up, or I can go home with you and we can explain what you were doing with your parents." I took the latter. Went home and talked to the rents with the cop. I sure lost my driving privileges for a few weeks, but it was worth it in my opinion. I'll never forget that cop. !M!

Tee Zee, you'll love those catalogs. Sooooo much cool stuff in there. Hundreds and hundreds of pages of products and some cool tips too! Still waiting for my race car catalog though. !M!

I think it's pretty cool. T-type I know Scottie and Derek will get a kick out of it. !M!

Yup, try Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co. They have all kinds of cool stuff. They give you a HUGE catalog for free. Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, E-Glass, Ceramic Fabric, S-Glass, ect. !M!

It would be a nice swap, but after seeing how many problems these new engines are having, I'll never own one. Did you know that the valves are actually hollow and they are filled with sodium? Just do a search on Yahoo or Google or whatever, you'll be suprised at what you find out. !M!

Tim, I remember seeing something on T.V. about TSW making an adaptor hub for VW's to run the single lug. If I remember right, it was put on a black VW Jetta on some show... man, I wish I could remember what show I saw it on. It was about a year or so ago. Now I'm second guessing myself, you know, now I'm not sure if it was TSW that made them... all I remember is it was for a VW. !M!
