  1. The stock wastegate actuator is attached to the exhaust housing via a small cotter pin. I'll see if I cant snap a picture for reference.
  2. It's gonna look good. I'm definitely going with black bumpers (or carbon fiber preferably) on my Silver 240. Contrast is a wonderful thing, especially with silver. Also Props on owning a Wrangler and an S30. I do too!
  3. The seats are some eBay specials I bought around 5 years ago. That's all the info I have on them really, sorry.... I'll say they only cost 200 bucks delivered to my door. I consider them by far the best investment for the car. They have to be adjusted perfectly otherwise they "Squish" a little. Haha. The harnesses are just bare bones Nismo 4 point harnesses. I also just got a gopro so...... Videos to come. I promise
  4. Well a quick update. I've been driving the car as my daily driver all summer. Fixing little quirks here and there. But today I had a little fun. Since it took me 3 months to get my car inspected, I burned through a set of tires on a bad alignment so what's a guy to do? Take the turbo 280zx rims and swap em to the 240. Here's before After Definitely still not wide enough, but after my alignment, I'm gonna stick my 1 1/4 spacers in there. Give it a little poke, at least temporarily until I can afford some coilovers. Swazzys!!! Also, I've never mentioned that I am an avid sailor (surprised by my account name) but I just bought a new sailboat. It's an International 14. For those of you who don't know, these boats average speeds in the 12+ knot range on most days, and frequent over 20 knots in decent breeze. They are a couple feet smaller than the skiff boats in the Olympics, the 49ers. 100% carbon fiber hull, mast, and boom. Sexay Definitely the most fun experience ever (next to the Z of course) here's a pic, since I can hardly control myself while around the boat.
  5. That sucks about your gnose..... But, I'm loving the most recent look. Also a big fan of the headlight covers on s130's. Awesome.
  6. 1. Shift it into fourth 2. Drop the clutch slightly. 3. Clutch back in. 4. Proceed to now put the car into reverse. It'll drop in every time. Like Leon says, reverse has no syncro so sometimes it takes a little coaxing.
  7. The non turbo 280zs and zxs dont prime, the fuel pump runs only when the key is cranking, until the motor fires and the afm is functioning. The turbo cars have the 5 second prime. The fuel pump relay controls this action.
  8. Got a Gopro Gopro'd a bunch of daily driving activities in the Z. I'll try to finagle one to the internet some time.
  9. This. The bottom switch is most definitely the rear defogger. The top one, could potentially be the brake light switch. Looks to be about in the right area of the harness. I'd bet that it's your brakes. Look at the very top of you brake pedal, you'll either see a switch, or a provision for one (roughly 1/2'' threaded hole.) Unless someone prior to you owning the car cut and spliced up your harness, which is entirely possible, those connectors were not used on the stock flasher. At least not on any of my Z's.
  10. Very cool. I spent all last fall and winter doing that exact thing. Collecting and recycling vegetable oil and either reselling it as cleaned processed oil or making bio diesel out of it. My boss runs all of his trucks and his personal 350 turbo Benz and TDI on bio fuel. And has a hydrogen capable f250. Ill say from my experience running the motor off of straight grease, works, but is NOT ideal for the motor. Stuff definitely has a tendency gum up a lot sooner, even with the heated lines. BIO FUEL is definitely the way to go. Its incredibly interesting work. I sure learned a lot. Got confused a lot too And hydrogen in my personal opinion is the next step in automotive development. I can feel it.
  11. Drove the car 50 miles. and Bought some parts. Piecing together my turbo setup.
  12. First drive in the rain. Since it hasn't rained in a couple MONTHS.....
  13. Just throwing it out there. But maybe your fuel is getting too hot. Do you have any heat shield or insulation for the fuel rail?
  14. Hey there, I am starting to acquire my components for my turbo swap. I'm boosting my n42/n42 forged build. I am looking for the following... Hopefully a plug in solution. (73 240z) Here's the laundry list of items. 1. Megasquirt ECU (already soldered/jumpered in good working condition) 2. Megasquirt harness with the gm sensors in good working condition 3. Oil plumbing from the block to the turbo, with t fittings etc... (stock t3 turbo currently) 4. 370-440cc injectors with pigtails and a pallnet style o-ring fuel rail (hopefully with mounting hardware) 5. Intercooler setup with piping and BOV to fit into a s30 I am very flexible when it comes to specifics of items, I just used "megasquirt" as a reference, any standalone/ turbo setup will be considered, as long as it is pretty much plug and play. Post what you have, with a price please. Pictures are ALWAYS a plus as well. Or shoot me a PM and I will get back to you at earliest convenience. I live in upstate New York (13651) and will pay all necessary shipping. Thank you very much for your time.
  15. I've got the stock master cylinder, stock calipers in the front with slotted and drilled rotors and a nice set of ceramic pads with a fresh set of shoes/drums in the back. Those brakes will pull the eyes out of your head if you get on them too hard. Obviously drums are not ideal if you plan to race your car, but if you daily the car, like I do, the stock system is definitely sufficient.
  16. Drove it. Day 3 no problems. 400 miles on this rebuild.
  17. installed the alternator today. 14.5+ amps at an idle baby! evened out every little stumble at an idle. She's driving again!
  18. Saw this thing on craigslist I thought it was hilarious. Figured I'd share, as it is not something you see every day. Wants 3000. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/3091802234.html There's the link with more pictures and the description.
  19. I'd just go and pull your distributor rotor wherever you go. At least til you feel the threat is off. unless they bring the wrecker...but in that case, nothing much you could do, short of booting your own car, which I have contemplated, a few times..
  20. The ole external voltage regulator spit the bit today. Ordered my 60 amp/IR solid state....gotta wait til she arrives. damn you California for being 5 day shipping!!!! Other than that, car runs great when she's got the juice. Funny how that works out.
  21. On the road legal now for two days. Drove her 30 miles. Didn't break down. Car: 4 Andy: 1 Score! Outside pics to come...
  22. If I had a nickel for every thermostat housing bolt I've broken on L motors.... I'd have 30 cents! Good luck getting em out.
  23. I DROVE it, and NOTHING BAD HAPPENED! so stoked
