I grew up in the mountains of the coachella valley and after hiking with a few of my friends up a small 10 mile trail, they only brought .5 a gallon of water when it was 118* ambient, it was up hill and sunny. Needless to say I ended up having to give one a piggy back ride back down and sharing my water. Then again, I'm the kind of person who would load up a back pack and go walking aimlessly into the woods.

  7. Drain the tank, drop the tank and pull the sender, If i remember its only a little rubber ring that seals it.
  8. Personally, I wouldnt use a filter with a bypass rating, I would use one with a burst rating, just something about the oil actually being filtered, when not at idle.

  13. I'm sure you can get away with using grade 8 nuts and bolts on the driveshaft.
  14. just a little fyi, thats a really small carb for a 305, but if you want to keep it, I would suggest rebuilding it, if you haven't already.
  15. You know "EDIS" stands for electronic digital ignition system right? as in you need a computer or piggy back system to control the coil packs.

Honestly man, I bought an R1 as my first bike and while it is fun as hell all ways through, Still doesnt have the freedom of an enduro or motard and the cost of them adds up quick, with tires being almost $300 a set and oil changes being about $45, I had the dealer change my plugs and adjust my valves once and the tally was about $450 afterwords. Not to discourage you, but buying the bike is one thing, being able to afford the maintenance is another. buy something cheap, thrash it, learn your lessons and move on to something bigger.
  17. I was thinking along the principle's of splitting the air along the sides as much as possible and using downforce creating devices to make a majority of the downforce.

  19. I have the hooker header long tubes for the sbc-s30 swap and they work great in the 20 or so years the motor has been in the car.

  21. what about an older diesel dodge truck? The body will come one with the earth, before those motors stop running.
  22. TT on an L-series is worthless for anything other then a novelty.
