Help choosing gear ratios please!
alainburon replied to B5BiTurbo's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I bought my Magnum TR6060 from Tick performance for $4,699.99. That included the conversion to fit an Fbody Camaro as well as powder coating the case and upgrading the trasnmission to handle 900RWTQ. I have attached some pictures. -

Thanks for the tips Keith, I will double check everything before I roll the car. Ordering parts is like crack, fortunately I have not had to return anything but then again I have not begun assembling the car yet. I hope things go together as I expect and be able to get the car on the road soon after I get it from the bodyshop.

Moving slow at the body shop, it will be 2 years this month since I dropped my car off to get worked on. My patience is running out and frustration is starting to set in. The only cure for that is to buy more parts so I ordered the Arizona Z lower control arms, differential brace and Wilwood brakes. I’m very pleased with the quality of their parts. The plan is to have the calipers painted red to match the lettering on my intake and to have the aluminum suspension parts clear coated in order to maintain the same look year after year.

S30 LSX Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
alainburon replied to fullmetaljacket's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I think some of these threads are comical, god knows I need a few laughs from time to time. It seems like most enthusiast now a days are all so concerned about HP dyno numbers and have no idea what the numbers really mean. In Houston we call those guys internet racers and most reputable vendors won’t even deal with them. Like the old saying “what does a 600hp Supra and a 1300hp Supra have in common?†they are both 11 second cars. People are getting so sucked up in numbers that it’s becoming ridiculous. If your only concern is HP numbers long tubes are not for you. Just get you a 600 shot of nitrous and be done with it, until the engine blows. But if you really know what the advantages are of having long tubes vs shorty headers or manifolds then paying this price for a set of long tubes is well worth it. -
I was able to find a pair of new fenders at Lynchburg Nissan in Virginia. It appears they are on backorder from Nissan and some dealers are saying that they are no longer available. The key is to find a dealer that is willing to tell you what other dealer has fenders in stock since they have access to inventory nationwide. Riley at Lynchburg Nissan was very helpful, I got his information from a dealer in California since my local dealers just told me that nobody had any, obviously they did not even check at all. Another option would be ordering from Motorsports Auto. They claim they can still get OEM fenders, the reason I did not go with them was because they were talking about 3 weeks minimum to get them and I need mine as soon as I can get them. Keep in mind that shipping these fenders is not cheap, about $150 each depending on where you are. One thing I don't suggest is ordering aftermarket fenders, they are paper thin and the body lines do not lign up. You are better off using used fenders than aftermarket. Good luck sir.

I'm interested as well, can these be used with 15" wheels?

Congrats, awesome car -
Thanks, I have called around local dealers and they claim Nissan does not make these anymore. I'm hoping to come sccross a dealer that is helpful and can tell me if another dealer in the US stocks them.

Does anyone know where to get new factory fenders for a 78 280Z? Maybe a dealer that would carry some old stock or anyone that specializes in locating parts like these. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't mind helping some Texas boys make some money. I will make sure I ask for a discount when I order my relays and switches. Thank you, I understand what you mean. I had the 6 cylinder that was in there running very well for many years. It was bored, cammed with performance injectors, throtle body and Nitrous as well. For the longest time I swore only Nissan parts would go on this car. Then I bought an LS7 Z06 Corvette and that was the end of the Nissan 6 cylinder. The torque and hp of an LS motor its just hard to beat and I had to have one for my 280Z. After I'm done with this one I hope I can restore a 240Z and keep it all original this way I have the best of both worlds.

It would be nice if I would have gotten a discount though.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the support.

Nitrous Outlet posted a picture of my intake on their facebook page. They sure take better pictures than I do.....LOL

Sorry, I don't have any connections for that type of work.
-
Thanks, What counter top are you refering to? If it's the stainless it's just the top of my tool box.

Hello Keith, What I have seen in my years doing this is that Direct Port feeds all the cylinders with the same amount of Nitrous and fuel and it's instant as the nozzle is right at the cylinder. A plate system depending on how big of a shot can lead to uneven distribution causing the front cylinders to have more that the rear. Also fuel puddles at the bottom of the intake can be a concern on a plate system, depending on your set up of course. I have seen intakes explode at the track due to that issue.

Got the intake back from Nitrous Outlet, I’m very happy with their work. Even if you are not a Nitrous guy you have to admire the workmanship on a direct port system.

Purchased a set of Holley LS valve covers and sent them off to be chrome plated. Also purchased a set of GM performance coils and had them painted body color to match the intake. Today the ARP polished stainless LS accessory bolt kit came in and I was able to put it together to see what it looks like.

Mikellys 403 Stroker LS3 build...
alainburon replied to Mikelly's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I have seen the same thing with MSD coils on LS engines. Most of the engine builders I called use GM factory coils. -
LOL, She knows now, not too happy about the money I'm spending on this car but at least she is still suportive of what I'm doing. I tthink....
