  1. My 280YZ fender set came in today. God these fenders are wide. I'm going to have to widen the track 5" in the front and 4" in the rear. This equates to ~ 71.5" width front and rear. Also, my current total height from the ground to the roof is ~48", I will get this down to a total height of ~45". Justin
  2. This concept really shows the largest benefits at very high pressure ratios where a single turbo won't be efficient. That is why this is way more common on diesels than gas engines. The added benefit of earlier spool up of the larger turbo is great for rpm limited engines like diesels.
  3. As long as you aren't bottoming out the strut, cutting springs is ok IMO. I cut two coils off of my 280z before I had gone to this coilover conversion I'm working on right now.
  4. John Washington is alive and still selling these fenders. He has a good turn time on them as well!
  5. Here is the one picture I snapped today. The MSA is mounted in its standard position. It has 3.5" of clearance in this picture. Since I'm lower the car 2.5" more, but raising the MSA T3 4", I'm going to end up with 5" of clearance for the air dam when all is said and done. I plan in the future to get a set of road racing slicks. I've been looking at the Hoosier 275/35-15's. Those have a diameter of 23", which would allow me to lower the car more. I could potentially end up at 3.5" at the raised rocker height, or 1" if the rockers weren't raised just for reference.
  6. I installed my Techno Toy Tuning roll center adjusters. They are 35mm thick, and everything clears fine with the 17" wheels. I then removed the factory springs to see where the front struts would bottom out at. On my car, I'm at 5" at the rocker up front with the springs removed. This is a 280z w/ 24.5" tall tires. So that places my hub centerline at 7.25" above my rocker. I'm looking at lower the car an additional 2.5", while retaining ~2" of bump travel. The floors are going to be raised, along with the rockers. I figure I'm going to raise the rockers 2.5". The floor will be flush with this height. So I'll end up with ~ 5" of clearance throughout at static ride height. Also, I acquired a Wilwood pedal assembly this weekend. Its a triple master setup with a balance bar. Should be nice I think Justin
  7. I want to try the N47 head with high compression piston and E85 for the street. It would be great fun running around with 12:1 + CR.
  8. They also carry these in 18X9.5 +15 offset. 4X114.3 bolt pattern for these and the ones listed in the first post.
  9. Maybe the hub bore is too small on your wheels?
  10. Maybe a dumb question here, but why is your new loan greater then what you owe on your present loan? Are you going to pocket the difference as a emergency fund?
  11. Are the Acura TL bi-xenon projectors still the best on the market currently? I'm looking for a full setup hear shortly, and want to make sure I'm not buying out of date equipment
  12. Here is a 9.5" with a 245/40 up front. The wheel is turned toward the passenger side a little bit.
  13. Yeah, I could slowly work my way down I guess measuring travel off of the zip tie on the strut tube. Thanks for the idea.
  14. I'm interested as well. Any projected pricing?
  15. Lowrider No, I'm going to run the YZ fenders, and want to know how much travel I need up front, so I can set the distance from the top of the tire, to the underside of the fender in front. You can see in this picture of darius car what I'm thinking about. Just trying to figure how much gap I need with these springs. I can always run them into the bump stops to give myself a firm stopping point so I don't rip the fenders off with the tires.
  16. Justin are you still interested in the fiberglass cowl hood? I purchased it but its not going to work for me.

  17. With 375lb springs up front, and a projected front corner weight around 650 lbs with driver, how much bump travel do I really need? I'm just trying to get my head around figuring out how much bump travel I will actually see on a road course with this spring rate. Regards, Justin
  18. YZ Fenders are ordered. I'm really excited to finally make the jump and do these fenders. They are what got me excited about building a Z car way back in 06. Finally my car will have a set :) I need to figure out the best way to widen the track of my car to fill out the flares. In the front I will likely space out the struts an inch on each side. In the back, I'll likely run wheel spacers until I decide on my rear end upgrade. The nice thing about the front YZ fenders is the ability to run the tires much closer to the top level of the fender since it doesn't curve away like the factory fenders. No dealing with mounting the ZG flares high enough now. Hopefully I can get the MSA Type 3 widened, as I'd really like to retain it.
  19. Here is my 280z currently at 5.75" front / 6.5" rear height at the rockers. The tires are 245/40-17's. I plan on lower it a lot more actually. I'll post updated pictures this next week as I lower it some more. I need to cut the fenders before I can lower it more. I need to raise the diff, and engine/trans to get it much lower. Also, I want to raise the inner pickup points front and rear. The floor pan is cut out on my car currently. I will be sectioning the rockers, and raising the floor. There is a lot of sheetmetal changes to get the car much lower then 5.0" at the rockers.
  20. Is the output flange of the R230 beefier then the R200? I'm just questioning if I should spend the money on putting in the R230 I have, or just stick with the R200 and CV's. Justin
  21. You could surely fit one of these shorty Vibrant mufflers in the fender to make it a little quieter if needed: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1021_1032&products_id=1054
  22. Similar setup on a S2000. Doesn't seem that loud:
  23. This is at a current rocker height of 5.75" front and 6.5" rear. I think I'm going to ZY fenders front and rear to help get the car lower. Once I get the car down to the height I want it at, I will redesign the suspension pickup points to make it work. Overall I'm really happy with these Rota's. They look great on these Z cars!
  24. Here are my 17X9.5 with 245/40 Bridgestone RE-01R's. I will get them mounted today and hopefully take some pictures. I wanted to go wider, but I could not pass up these tires at half off from Tire Rack. I think if I ever make an upgrade from these it will be to 285/30-18's all around on some 18X10's. Justin
