  1. I agree! There is limited room plus the 1 7/8 into 3" would be loud given the limited room for mufflers. Not sure if the bump in size would be worth the drone in the passenger compartment. Also, the gain in hp vs 1 1/2 into 2 1/2 would be negligible IMHO
  2. I used the 280z evaporator- had it refurbished at a local shop for $75
  3. Look through this post - it has all the info ya need http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/82026-jci-ac-mount-alignment-issues/
  4. My instincts were correct - that "rattle can" job perfectly illustrates what I was referring to in my initial post. I particularly laughed at the statement you made "Anyway, in keeping with that theme I ended up doing a rattle can job to embrace the grassroots feel of the car." Since when does a classic 240Z deserve a rattle can paint job to keep with the grassroots feel of the car? Especially that poorly executed stuff you did! As I have previously stated - my opinion is that you made the car look worse, will now have additional (significant) work when (if) you ever paint it properly and took a pretty good looking car and made it look riceboy silly I admire folks who tastefully execute creative paint schemes, but if you're looking to try to accomplish that I would recommend that you hire a professional
  5. Are you going to post a picture? Did you select the "pink" color theme that you previously posted? Honestly, I still feel the approach was all wrong but that's just my .02 Tasteful color themes are sometimes OK, but the key is the execution - and I rarely see one that I would consider well done - With 35 years in the custom car business (it was our family business until we decided to sell it and move to florida), I can say that I have a good eye for design and I was not too keen at all about your first attempt... Just trying to coach you from making a mistake that would be costly to "undo". Seems that other member who said "it's just paint" has very little experience stripping a car that needs paintwork redone - to do it right it is a very labor intensive job... but most don't do it right and it shows in the finished product - Paint is not something you can do half assed
  6. Cool - I'll be sure to point out your ridiculousness in person at our next Z club meeting - although I doubt you'll want to show the car in public once you yourself see it completed... Doing things just to piss off others - Love it - You're only devaluing your car and subsequently taking money out your own pocket to do so! LOVE IT!
  7. David and Dudeboy It seems both of you left the stock FPR installed and used the stock rails... doesn't the stock FPR have a static(non adjustable) fuel pressure? How did it work out adding the Aeromotive FPR? Can you actually adjust the fuel pressure given the fact that you have 2 different FPRs? I have decided to use aftermarket solid fuel rails which eliminate the stock FPR... My plan is to run the feed line into the aeromotive FPR and out to the drivers side rail, put fittings to connect the driver side rail to the passenger side rail and the return line off the bottom of the FPR - any suggestions or words of wisdom on doing it this way?
  8. That poor Z is about to get riceboyized = please don't make another Z into something people will look at with a chuckle... I saw another guy local here in FL here who camouflaged the wheels and sides in black, white and blue - it was hideous - I'm sure he's had to junk the car - he was trying to sell it and even for parts it would be embarrassing to have in the driveway while you pulled it apart... my guess is the junkyard couldn't crush it fast enough
  9. I have a cable x for sale if you're interested pm me
  10. Yep - you can try to mentor and coach the noobs from spending a ton of time, money and effort on something with very little chance of success, but it seems most like to learn their lessons the hard way so I say - PLEASE show us a well executed conversion! BUT if you don't have deep pockets - don't start the project! The real kicker is " a well executed conversion"... I 've seen way too many half assed attempts that are simply not safe for the road that take a pretty good car and turn it into a total POS
  11. You'd be better off selling the whole 300zx with the motor running and instead putting the funds towards an early Z LSX conversion
  12. Is is deleted or moved to the toolshed? I can't find it? Is there any way I can get access to it? Honestly, I needed some information in there for a possible grant application(still researching )
  13. I noticed it is no longer there and I'm quite upset because I seriously wanted to do some further research on some of the topics discussed - Not kidding - there was some really great information posted that I was in the midst of researching. Why delete the whole post???? A lot of time was devoted to the topic WHY IS IT DELETED?!
  14. Well the speakers and equipment are much heavier than that... I'm not a fan of adding all that bulk in the hatch area Better choice IMO is what others have done to flip the spare tire upside down and mount a sub above it... Sounds great, you keep the hatch for what it was intended for and you also still have a spare The neon lights are ridiculous
  15. Is the spare tire well now rendered useless? Also, how much weight did this add to the car?
  16. I would agree with Dan - after having gone through squeezing the T56 into my Z, a lighter and smaller tranny would have been much easier.
  17. I have a ton of pics, but the owner plans to make a big splash with the car so for now, that's the only sneak peak ya get... YZ rears that have been highly customized including the fender lips and the dog legs, subtle Z fronts, custom G Nose with one of a kind air dam - the rear has skyline GTR led tail lights, completely smoothed, with a custom wing that started life as a GM product with a rear led third brake light... It has a ton more custom touches including shaved rain gutters, gills with grill, and a bunch of other things - it's interesting to see people walk around it... takes several viewings to notice it all I was surprised to see some of the comments about 19 inch wheels so I took the liberty of posting an opposing view - of coarse these are custom made but if done correctly they work... I don't think it would look right on a fairly stock fendered Z, but once you flare things out it can be tastefully done... and BTW this thing handles awesome with these wheels on it... See if you notice the fuel filler door
  18. I'd like to see a picture of how much you had to bend them, would you mind posting one? I bought the LS2 plug wires and have not installed them yet - maybe i'll get out there and do it today
  19. Here's a car that we recently finished with 19's
