  1. Time will tell, the head should be shipping this week. Then I can get my stock motor back together. If it pings on 91 still, I did find a gas station that has 94, 95 and 100 or something along those lines, but if it's safe to say...maybe back in 1970 95 leaded octane might be the same as 91 unleaded by now right?
  2. Looking great! You think you'll be able to get it set in today? Wiring everything up might take you a little bit of time.
  3. Ahh sounds right...but now I had a dumb moment and never looked in the owners manual...doh! I'll look but I suspected if the car had that high of a cr for stock that it would need 89-91 but I'll look in the book.
  4. That's interesting, so I wonder then if reg will be fine with the stock cr for my rebuild.
  5. OZdat said I think 9.1 for cr, with the stock set up like that wouldn't it have to use better gas then regular?
  6. Well I guess I'm just wondering if the e31 head e31 block that's all stock will have detonation? That's just what I was reading. If its true would I have to use maybe better fuel then reg unleaded? Like 89? 91 would be to high I thinke.
  7. I just looked at this website and on the bottom it said that e31 head was changed to the e88 head because of detonation problems. Anyone hear of this? I tried searching this and couldn't find anything, reason why I ask is this stock E31 head/block need higher octane fuel then regular unleaded? Maybe 89 octane? Heres the site, its' on the bottom. http://www.zshop.net.au/240tech.htm
  8. How much did you end up paying for it? What year?
  9. I should post the pics and the entire text sometime tomorrow, burgandy color
  10. Yup that's the one. Also saw it listed again in salinas. The lady did send me some pics I should add them. If anyone wants a 2000 roadster in the bay try and get it. Supposedly it's non op status that runs...although they said it was purchased 10 years ago for a daughter to restore but she's like 16 from what the lady says and doesn't care about the car...
  11. The person Ive been talking to is not responding that much, its in a estate financial sale I think, the neighbor is the one im talking too, but since its about 80 miles from my house Im asking for a just a quick vid of the car starting up before I drive there, I haven't received one yet. Might have to forget about this one since I do have the Z. I probably should put my money to finishing her before I go for something that I'll want to eventually spend more money on lol. Maybe I'll go for one that doesn't nee body work and I can just change the power plant rims, suspension and seats and Im good.
  12. I heard it from classic Z members sorry : / Never looked into flat tops because of those comments when I got my first Z.
  13. You know you'll have people asking how much shipped haha!
  14. Well I would only get it to drive ya know, if it needed a rebuild I wouldnt be able to do that for awhile for the motor. And I would try to do it myself first before giving in to professional help lol. But yea, I realize I'd have to do the warm up every morning and after work before I left so it would suck to just not tune the car on and go. Lame. Maybe I'll get one after my Z is done but a already restored one and just do a swap and drive it lol.
  15. Yea, I've kind of talked myself out of it already. Parts are hard to find and the whole point ofe getting a miata was so I could sell It later and have money for my triple mikunis since I won't feel bad selling something that isn't rare. Will have to stick with it. His hard to pass up such an awesome Datsun!
  16. I had a thought about maybe dropping in a L28 but we'll see, if anything I would go SR or VG. But all of that will have to wait till my Z is done. Shes the number one priority to finish lol
  17. It's actually a 2000 roadster! I believe its in a estate liquidation but I've been talking to the person running that to get the car. Response is not as quick as I'd like, but it has been owned for 10 years. They sent me a few pics and it looks ok from the pics. Just waiting on a short video of it starting before I make the drive to go and see/test drive it. Im also a little frustrated with the pics showing no plate on the car so I don't know if its current on reg yet. Since I had to jump leaps and hurdles to get my Z registered since its from NM and the last owner never finished the paperwork for that. Anyways I still would like a miata since I don't have to warm it up and drive lol. Instead I would I have to wait a few minutes to get it ready to drive in the early mornings.
  18. Yea, I don't want to do that much. Different rims, seats. Another motor later on and new steering wheel
  19. If this guy emails me back I'm going to buy it as long as everything works. A little rust doesn't scare me. I'll think of it as a top gear challenge with Jeremy, James and Richard going to work and going home. Looking good in my car even if I have a break down haha! Yes!!
  20. I was sent a small pic and it looks really good(looks can e deceiving). Also it looks like it has a hard top with it. Its the 2000 roadster so it should have the 5 speed and the bigger of the 4cyl motors. I may actually buy this. If anything did happen and my regular commuter car is finally fixed I would def go for a sr swap. Or I can clean I up and sell it for a bit more in the end.
  21. WOW! Im sold on that idea lol, The main reason is non smogging and I can always do a motor swap onto it later to make it more powerful. Hopefully I can see it in person soon.
  22. Well I love them both as a car ofcourse, miatas would be the better deal as to have a commuter and have parts and engines available. But my wife likes the roadster so much better and I could always do a swap. I'll have to take a look at the rust if I go see it.
  23. Talking to a guy right now about his roadster he has for sale for 1900 bucks. Says it runs and just needs a paint job. I wanted to get a miata but this is just so much cooler, but should i take the plunge and get it? I want to drive it As a second commuter for now.
