  1. the only thing id worry about is metal stuff in the motor (changing the oil after 15 or so minutes of motor running time) and then if you have to seat the cam, if its a flat tappet cam sometimes you cant allow the motor to go under like 3,000 rpms if i remember correctly, so that the cam can harden and not wipe out a lobe later. roller motors just change the oil after a short time of running and go just a little something..after smokey yunick would build a motor he would grab the throttle and do a wide open throttle run as soon as he started it up
  2. you want to look at the years also, 98-00s M6s have weaker clutches. 01-04 have the LS6 clutch. 98-99 motors didnt have good oil return inside the block, so they sh o uldnt be used above 6500rpms or so becuase they like to spin rod bearings. 00-04 LS1s have much better oil return and if you plan on putting in a big cam you need that extra oil return capablity. but if you want to just have a stock, or midly cammed LS1 a 98-99 will do just fine
  3. itll be around a 30 offset... those starion wheels look pretty good actualy..
  4. If I put the Z31 5 lug hubs on my car, does anyone know what my backspacing would be? im trying to see if i can get some 350Z wheels on the front of my car without fender flares.
  5. only LS1 cars that came with steel driveshafts were 2.73 cars. all M6 and all 3.23 cars came with aluminum drive shafts but no, dont get the SS, just buy a wrecked Z28
  6. haha, an SS IS a Z28 with just a hood, spoiler and wheels. unless the hood spoiler and wheels are good (you could get 500 or so out of it, 200 for spoiler give or take, and 300 out of the wheels) all the other parts are the same. motors are identical.
  7. are LT1 and LS1 injectors the same?
  8. as the title states i need some LT1 injectors. used, stock would be great, can anybody help me out so i dont have to pay an insane amount for injectors on a car i just want to putter around in?
  9. any SBC header designed for an angle plug head will work on an LT1
  10. sunroofs are fine, if they dont leak like mofos, which mine does. so ill be doing the same thing as you
  11. what years came with the fiberglass buckets? my 72 has fiberglas buckets but they are both damaged
  12. you have mad fab skills dude, come work on my car haha
  13. imo these cars dont look nearly as good without a bumper in the rear, just looks incomplete
  14. dude, that car is soooo gay haha... my vote would be for gloss black.. by the way, your car is partialy the reason why i now have a 240Z, its an absolutly beautiful car.
  15. yeah, LT1s have 2 mounting points, one of them is the traditional SBC spot. its just an upgraded Gen 1 motor
  16. off topic but i must say that there is a reason why the fast drag cars are RWD and not AWD... RWD owns AWD at the drag strip AND at the road course, the ONLY time AWD is better is on non paved surfaces and rain or snow Getting your eclipse into the 11s - $3000 Knowing you are always going to break halfshafts - PRICELESS as for the motor.... dont base your decision on what color it is, thats stupid 4th grade crap. look at what it would cost you to have someone do all the work... you would probably end up in the $500 range, and to me its more worth it to KNOW that the motor is good than to buy a gamble. if you have your heart set on a SBC look at the low hp crate motors $1500 will get you a new motor where you can just switch the cam and have some good sound and around 300 hp
  17. dont waste your time.. cars with doors without window frames that move with the car are usualy a lot more loud and the windows suck out at high speeds. you would have to do mucho modifying, and unless you are really that bored, you shouldnt do it, come help me weld up my car if you have that much time haha
  18. i know that with state farm if you have a car classified as a primary driver, and then you can have a second one classified as a pleasure vehicle. my friend insures his 87 sprint and 00 Z28 for much cheaper than if he just insured the 00 Z28
  19. my insurance company totaled out my 01 Z28 for $12,000 we bought it back for $1500 if that gives you any idea, you will probably be able to buy your car back for like $500 or something STUPID. get your money and buy it back, DONT EVER LET THEM GET THE TITLE. then put a wheel on it and drive it till you figure out if you are going to fix it. its deff fixable
  20. dude, that damage is not that bad, put a tire on it and see if it pulls hard to one side or another. most body shops would cut off the damaged part and weld a new part on from about the middle of the tire forward. $2000 including parts max id say.. that car isnt totaled, fix it. if you want 240Z buy one to toy around with, fix your trans am. find a body shop that will fix it and not put the bags back in it, thats going to be the most expensive part of the whole deal. deffinatly worth fixing
  21. if you look around LS1 tech for 10 minutes you will find one much much cheaper. salvage yards are rip offs. they wanted $4000 for a front clip of a 4th gen f body. you can buy complete cars for that much. (btw thats no motor, just the metal)
