  1. I agree with your opinions about professional garages. Most of them ONLY care about money and will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your business. Almost 17 yrs ago a garage had my Celica GT for 8 weeks. I originally took it to them for overheating. When I picked it up I only made it about 5 miles before it overheated again.
  2. sounds like a pretty swet deal.
  3. Sparky, If you`ve been working on one like in the second link for a year, I think you need to be on Ritalin Looks good to me, That`s the kind I`m going with. Cheap and Easy, just the way it should be.
  4. I`ve got a good stock pump if you need one. 15.00+ shipping
  5. I think 450 or so is fair. I`ve never really been a big fan of those wheels, but the resto guys should love em.
  6. That thing would have wider turning radius than my truck
  7. This distributor has an internal coil. how much are you looking to get for the wheels and tires? Do they have center caps with them?
  8. No it has early heads. thats why I had to modify the center intake manifold bolt holes. It already has a hotter cam in it, which is another reason why I swapped it out. With 31" tires and 3;42 gears it would bog down in overdrive at 55, but at 70 it had all kinds of power. I`m pretty sure I have a good starter, alternator and a waterpump if you need them. I`ve also got a good HEI vacume advance distributor if you need one.
  9. The engine I have is complete. It is a good running dependable engine. I just removed it a few weeks ago from my truck. I had modified a late model TBI intake to fit it. After going thru the original engine I reinstalled it and removed this one. I should be able to pick up another 700r4 tommorow or sat. I sold the other one to someone else here when you said you had one.
  10. Refresh me on what stuff you still need so I can have it ready.
  11. Looks clear so far.are you planning to come up?
  12. I love it. Another one for the "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" list.
  13. It sounds like possibly a toyota supra, or maybe a conquest/starion assembly. How is the size compared to the r180`s or even the r200`s? If it`s smaller than the r200, I wouldn`t recommend using it. You may end up with alot of fab work involed in making it fit, only to have it fail relatively early.
  14. I use mobile1 5w30 in my wifes explorer and have had no oil usage whatsoever. Even when I pulled the boat to Alabama, it was still on full when we got there.
  15. It looks like the tab from an outer snap ring, I can`t think of anywhere in a SBC that you would find an outer snap ring. ???
  16. Go for it. You should sell them as "buy it now", that way nobody can email your bidders to tell them what`s up. That seems to be what most of these A-holes do.
  17. Swapping all of the panels for fiberglass seems a bit extreme. The Z have always been more prone to frame/floor rust than anywhere else. If you have extensive body rust, I recomend cutting out the rust and welding in patch panels. you have to remember the Z`s are uni-bodies with no real frame. exchanging the steel structure of the body for fiberglass would certainly effect the strength and rigidity of the body. You could also have alot of stress cracks down the road as the seams flex and the body twists.
  18. Works for me. I was no saint in my single days either.
  19. You may find a surprise of rust underneath.
  20. Is it possible that the injuries to the occupants of the other car may not have been so severe if the cars involved in the race had been traveling at the posted 50mph? YES. I have no doubt that the additional 37mph of impact speed contributed considerably to their injuries. Would it be possible to say that if the drivers of the racing cars had been driving the posted speed limit, and NOT involved in a race that they mayhave been more aware of the other car? YES Could it also be said that, if the drivers had not been concentrating on accelerating and winning the race, that their reaction to the car pulling in front of them may have been different? YES Were they breaking the law? YES Would a city sponsored quarter mile stop street racing? NO It seems to me that some people are attempting to minimize the guilt of the racers. By the arguments I`ve seen, it sounds like you wouldn`t mind going to jail for 10yrs for killing someone, but 20yrs is too much. I personally would prefer to NOT kill someone and NOT go to jail at all. I guess that`s the price you put on fun.
  21. I`ve read the previous post, and I find it hard to believe that you are SOooo concerned about your "HOBBY". It sounds to me like you are more concerned about what charges you will get when/if you kill someone, more than the chance of actually killing someone. I`ll say it again, "IF YOU ARE GOING TO STREET RACE, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND DO IT IN A RURAL AREA, WHERE THERE ARE NO CROSS ROADS OR DRIVEWAYS TO INTERFERE. Is it absolutely neccessary to race on residential highways? NO!! The problem with street racing in traffic is that when you are racing, you tend to get tunnel vision and only think about winning and staying "in it". You are too busy watching the other car or your tach to watch out for other cars on the road. I think you need to adjust your priorities from how convienient it is for you to race whenever/wherever you want and what charges you might face if some unlucky bastard just happens to be killed, to taking a few extra minutes to be sure that if someone dies during your race it is either you or the person you are racing. My .02 Like it or NOT!
  22. If you`ve never seen that pic before, you must have never seen a 100 dollar bill. I`m only 35. I`ve always admired Ben Franklin. He was a very talented inventor.
  23. THAT`S IT Sweet deal, I`m gonna order one for the kids. Thanks for the help.
