  1. here is a place to get active jammers http://www.1-radar-laser-jammers-detectors.com/ they sound pretty good, but are way expensive
  2. My wifes family is from the Hocking Hills, not too far from Marietta. If you move into the area soon, you will be in good shape down the road. Property values are on the rise, but are still very reasonable. You could build equity very fast in a market like that.
  3. C`mon up, We can use more hybridz`ers in the buckeye state The cost of living in Ohio, overall is pretty reasonable, and the southeastern part I think is the most reasonable. As long as you find a place 15-20mi or more from a metrpolitan area you`ll be in good shape
  4. I personally love to speed, as anyone from this board who has talked to me personally would know. I do the majority of my speeding late at night, or early in the morning when there are very few cars on the road. otherwise I just go with the flow of traffic. The link that I posted earlier,w/ the active jammers says, that they are legal in all but 3 or 4 states. The only thing that has stopped me from buying one of their systems is the price. I think the one I need would be over 2200.00 That would fly like a lead balloon with the wife
  5. If you definitely want the ls1,I would recomend finding a donor car to strip the drivetrain from. Then get the car together and running in stock lt1 form. wait to do any serious mods until you`ve got more money to play with.(besides, a stock lt1 in a 2500 lb car is no slouch) you can always do more later, try to avoid getting so much money and time into it, that you get buned out and bail on the project early. If you have the car painted and looking nice, it will help to keep you motivated. The problem many of us make, is stipping the car and having this ugly hulk sitting around soaking up all of our extra time and money. if you take your time and do a little at a time, it will cost less and you will be more likely to finish
  6. the car was not taken down, but he did edit his sig. saying that the car isn`t his but belongs to Pete. Sounds fair enough to me
  7. what`s worse, is they actually have a bidder How did you find this? were you looking for Dukes of Hazard collectibles?
  8. I don`t know if it`s ever been done, but I was thinking that cuting holes in the firwall and venting the engine compartment throught he cowl might be feesable. you would have to block th cowl vents from the passenger compartment, but it might be an idea.
  9. that sounds similiar to a problem I was discussing earlier today. This guy told me he had a 72 240 that would stall out when he made a hard turn. (right or left he couldn`t remember) My suggestion was the float.
  10. Good Idea, I just sent one
  11. That`s HILARIOUS. I noticed that this kid has had 1700+ hits so far to look at Petes car
  12. If I were closer, I`d bid. I think shipping would kill the bargain for me, and I don`t have the spare time to come and pick it up
  13. That`s cool, I`m actually hoping that there is no designation for color As for other #`s, I`m still looking. Hopfully I won`t find anymore, it will make my job much easier.
  14. It is very possible that you have gotten a bad bearing. Have you tried to plasti gauge the mains, to see what your clearance is?
  15. Also, is there a record of paint color to vin# Don`t ask why
  16. I`m aware of the stamping in the firewall,(above the brake booster) I`m also aware of the two stainless steel plates.(one in the door jam, and one next to the drivers side strut tower)and also the vin tag on the dash. My question is, Have any of you that have stripped your cars to the bare chassis found any other #`s stamped into the body or undercarriage?
  17. If things go well, I will be there with my digital camcorder.(and a spare battery) I hope to get lots of video of "screamin Z`s"
  18. If you are refering to the s&w cage. I got the 10pt cage from mikelly, and it fit easily in the cargo area of my explorer.
  19. I think that a spoiler could actually make it worse. The air flowing over the spoiler could cause low pressure behind the car, causing the fumes to be pulled forward and through any open areas around the tailights, and through the bottom edge of the hatch. Maybe
  20. I seem to remember a post from someone who used the front halfshafts from a 4x4 amc of some sort.
  21. I personaly don`t have a problem with requiring people to be "licenced" to drive. In fact I feel that at least 30% of the people on the road, should not be licenced at all. some people lack the basic skills and common sense it takes to operate a 3000lb battering ram at 60+ mph. Our licencing requirments are way too lenient. Just because someone has turned the "magical age of 16", does not mean that they should be allowed to operate a motor vehicle. It is a priviledge to drive and not a right. That priviledge should only be given to people responsible enough to handle it. When I was 16, I should not have been allowed to drive without an adult for at least a year, possibly two. By that time I would have been able to "respect the priviledge"
  22. Does JTR say why not to retro the tbi to an older engine? I used the stock tbi on my 88 truck w/ a 78 engine and it seems to work fine.It does run a little rich but I think that is cam related.
  23. Jim, Thanks for the time and effort you are putting into this recource.
