  1. I'm in the camp that says using a consumable fluid to control detonation on a street car is a bad idea. If you design your turbo system properly, you shouldn't need it. Like Corky Bell said in Maximum Boost, there is no Formula 1 car running water/alcohol injection. Or something to that effect anyway.
  2. Yeah, I just got a stern talking to from my wife about "dumping money on that piece of crap" when I tried to show her the great deal Paulo wanted to make for one of those blem C/F front fascias he's getting rid of...Women...And for the record, my wife has never set foot in my car either. (it's not my daily driver). I can't imagine why, her friends that I've driven around in it all say how cool it is to smell like gas when you get out of the car...
  3. 1tuffz, your car looks great! My passenger side RX-7 mirror that I mounted on my fender is a bit crooked, but they look pretty neat I think. I like the 1st gen RX-7 mirrors because they're power.
  4. This one looks like a Buell motorcycle engine
  5. If this thing really is a creampuff like you say (although 300,000 miles is a lot of miles, no matter what oil you put in it), I would say build another L series on the side and put it in at your leisure. I second the suspension and brake upgrade advice. The tokicos work well for me, and you will notice a world of difference by changing out the chassis bushings. Be sure your mods are done in stages, so that you don't have to have the car down for any length of time. Suspension is a weekend project (depending on experience), bushings maybe no depending on your spindle pin situation...L series to L series swap shouldn't be too difficult either.
  6. Seems like mine had two, but it's been so long since I tore that crap out I really don't remember...funny because when I got the car, the radio was the only thing that worked on the whole car...
  7. Yeah, the bug situation here in florida is definitely "special"...I've seen those giant beetle things they get people to eat on fear factor just walking around like there's nothing wrong with it. I've found scorpions in my workplace (and home). Spiders like crazy. Ants every which way. Don't get me started on lovebugs. Mosquitos are a given, even those big ones like you see in jurrassic park. I was working at Busch Gardens (a local theme park, in case people don't know) when they were spraying by air for the mosquitos, and I would find dead baby birds every so often that I guess weren't big enough to survive the spraying (even though we were told it would only affect mosquitos). Grumpy, I say by any means necessary buddy. By any means necessary.
  8. What about the mystery twin cam? did anybody get it right? you can't skip it just because nobody got the right answer, can you?
  9. Yeah, that was a great thread...I'm glad we were finally able to squash the myth that Mr. Ed was really a zebra once and for all. What ever happened to good old Manntis? Did he ever get a grande nose for his HID project? I like Alan, he doesn't take crap from anybody, and he can always back stuff up with pictures...
  10. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=112026 How about checking with this guy?
  11. So what does ON3GO dream about in a z-car? Between Old blue and the hulk, you've got my dream z-cars pretty much covered...
  12. For some reason it makes me want to say alfa romeo, but I couldn't tell you why...
  13. Superficially, I'd say it's not too bad, but until you look at the floorpans and frame rails, it's hard to tell. Does it come with the headlight covers, or are those long gone? I see it has the mounting tabs for them still. Looks like a lot of the rubber under the hood is fresh too, so that's good. Head's painted, but not the same color as the block, so it's most probably been off for something before. I saw you catching some flack for that airdam on another thread, but I think it's kind of cool.
  14. That's looking pretty good. you ought to throw it on the car. Using red and white, you could probably leave your flat orange as the base coat for the top.
  15. Back in my honda days I had a B18B on a stand in my room, on my pool table in the living room I had a garrett t04 turbo, at least one single cam cylinder head, and who knows how many other parts and tools strewn about...luckily now that i'm super z guy, i only have one closet outside with 12 wheels (with tires), an extra n47 cylinder head, a set of lockers with a half completed turbo manifold, a (different) garrett t04 turbo,an ssautochrome wastegate, a half completed intake manifold, two complete wiring harnesses, most of an energy suspension bushing kit, a welder, an airbrush and pump, and all kinds of other assorted crap that may or may not ever get finished/installed. I blame that consolidation on my wife...
  16. Yeah, the turbo III shelby chargers had it. I used to work with a rabid fwd mopar turbo guy, and he swore by them, but i've only ever seen those cars in the junkyard. They had the exhaust manifold on the back of the engine which makes them a PITA to even look at. I heard Honda is going to use one on the new turbo MDX that is coming out too, though. The current MDX motor is very odd (we use them in the Saturn Vue), it has the exhaust runners cast into the head, and there is one big round downpipe that bolts to each head for the exhaust...
  17. Flat white might be better, since flat black makes any substandard bodywork extremely noticeable (bitter voice of experience). I've discovered that blue and gray camo hides it very well however...
  18. Anybody out there as big of a nerd as I am? If so, here is a web comic for you: www.nuklearpower.com Just go to archive, and start at the first one. Be warned, this may be the geekiest thing you've ever seen, but if you get into that kind of thing, it's so addictive for some reason...
  19. Or you could do like I did, and just smurf some off of a 79-85 RX-7 and mount them wherever you want because they are power...
  20. Go ahead guy, I posted them for you. I think the bre reference would be lost if you did the bottom flat black, but it would still look pretty cool. But I would use white instead of the gray, and red instead of the black on top.
  21. I tried to go stripper fishing once, but the bouncers threw us out...
  22. I like that price, $350 EACH...Hid's sure do cost..
  23. I'd say make them slightly larger than the exhaust ports. have you measured those yet? 2"-2.5" seems awfully big...
