  1. Why not? I feel they give the car a certain "flair". I do not intend to pass the car off as an original "Fairlady" if that is what you are implying. Yes I can understand if that is WHAT you are implying. From the little bit that I know, which is very limited about Z cars, I believe the "real" Fairlady cars were right hand drive AND were not optioned with a V-8. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I owned Scarab 154 and get the same "feeling" when and if somebody implies their car is an origina Scarab. All I have to do is look for the Scarab VIN tag that was attached to the door jamb and know the truth. I apologize if I am coming across as rude and not answering your question in a gentlemanly type way but ultimately it has the NOS "Fairlady" tags to pay homage to the original Z cars. Additionally, this is after all Hybrid Z and as you know, anything goes as far as modifications are concerned. Why not ask me about the Gnose? It's an aftermarket 2 piece made by a member on this board. Again I apologize if I am coming across as curt.
  2. ^^^^^^THIS YES! I hear a lot of parents(not pointing the finger at JSM in any way!) say we'll he's a straight A student in school, never gets in trouble, blah blah blah.....Yeah may be so but he cant friggin DRIVE!!! Take that into account!!! Dang.
  3. If there is no rust and everything works to your satisfaction it appears To be a reasonable deal. If possible get it on a lift And check the underside. What you can't see can hurt you. Don't "play" the owner just be cautious. If its every thing you want in a car take the leap. Of course you can expect some flaws here and there. Rust is what you're looking for, other than that it appears to be a decent car from what the pics tell.
  4. That is a nice car for 5k provided it's not a rust bucket. What is the HLS-30 number?
  5. At the shop.... NOS Tail lights and painted surrounds Painless wiring
  6. Here is where we stand as of today. This thing has really gone overboard!!!! g going on, one fender, tail lights in, Holley EFI placed on intake.
  7. As a farther of a special needs child, them not following up with you is down right wrong. I am sad to hear that, somebody that has a passion for cars and supports autism awareness wouldn't follow up with you. Shame on them.
  8. Check out Brian and his parts, gerat customer service too!!! http://www.zccjdm.com/ I got my gnose from him and the sparrow tail in CF. Stand up guy!!!
  9. Its ALL about the "stance" do you get it? J/K
  10. If I recall correctly the gears come in a varity of colors that you can match with your rear end gearing and tire size in order to choose the correct one. It was the output gear (white one pictured above) I'm sure it can be found on the net somewhere. I used to have an old carcraft mag that had the formulas and such in there so you could make the correct decision but that was years ago. Also are you running a World Class T-5 (WC-T5) or just a regular T-5? The WC's are stronger, the way to ID the WC is count the splines on the input shaft, there sould be 26, the non WC I believe are 10 spline input shafts. Finally your R180.....from what I've seen, it's not going to last long behind a V-8, so be ready to swap it out. If you've never swapped the rear end read up on how to do the swap to ensure you have the correct parts before you begin.
  11. Agreed! $1000 is a drop in the bucket, body and paint around here will run you about 7-8k I too had a "friend" do body work on my car. Took forever and the results to me looked ok, turns out when I got it to the paint shop...a lot more work had to be done. So what did I save in the long run? Not a dime, in fact it COST me MORE because a lot of the work had to be redone!!! The guy claimed to be a fiber glass expert (on my gnose prepping it for paint) what a mistake!). I just had the nose painted last week after the paint shop had to rework his handy work. Bottom line 1st you get what you pay for, second if they don't have a spray booth or something that resembles one do not expect awesome results. I'm NOT beating on the guys that have done paint work in their garages (most of them are working on their own cars) but the part time, hey I can do body work and used to work for such and such shop...well there is a reason they no longer work at that shop. There is a lot of wisdom, advice, experience and stories of success and failures on this board. Looking down from 30,000 feet at your project/body work, you're going to be disappointed but I can only hope for the best because you're spending your hard earned $$$$ on this car.
  12. Copy cat Ever hear from Vince much or at all?
  13. The P/N is for a stock motor mount, any parts house should be able to X refernce the part number. Once you receive the book read it twice or twelve times, bathroom reading material (haha) you'll get it then. Also search this site thourghly it is a wealth of information. I've been a member since Y2K, it helps to do reseach. Best of wishes on the build.
  14. Let me fire up the camera but that sounds like a stretch for that much functionality. But then again this is HYBRIDZ so nothing is impossible!
  15. This Is a gimme. Chevrolet part number for the motor mount is 3990332 for the driver side. You have to slightly clearance the driver-side mount. The rubber part Now go and buy a JTR manual. You're welcome.
  16. That would be the Chevy motor mount that you supply and is not included in the kit. I believe the JTR manual has the part number.
  17. Looking for this part for the DRIVERS side for a 240z. I had one and accidently drove over it, of course I kept it but can't find it now. Anybody parting out a 240z should have this part. PM me Thank you.
  18. I ordered a set of the clear side markers with housings from thailand_vintage77 on ebay, they just arrived (took forever!) but I am very pleased with what I recieved for the price. They included lenses, trim, housings, bulbs, all wire connectors, exactally what is pictured below. Sure the lenses are the ones that have the rough type finish inside not like the smooth ones that sell for well over $100 from REDDAT on ebay but for the price $22 I don't think you can beat them. We'll see.
  19. ^^^RB25 can you please post a link. Thanks!
  20. Well that is the state of my car, took a 72 shell, no title and now rebuilding it from the ground up. What kind of title will I wind up with? In Arkansas who knows. If it's salvage well, I'll just let the pictures do the talking. I don't think there is such a thing as a "redone" title but that would be fine with me too.
  21. Check out yellowbullet.com or racing junk.com
  22. I had a FFR cobra and my Hybridz at the same time. The thing that happens is you become torn on which one to spend money on. I sold the cobra and picked up the an original Scarab. Then my dilema became worse, then the kids came, now many years later (8) I'm still building my Z. Ground up restomod $$$ never again. For a "fun" car I picked up a TT Z32, love it, and needs nothing, but a new home now. Cant find a pic of the FFR, SRT8 in the back ground of the Scarab, another nice car...gone now too.
  23. Car is currently being wired, been a while since an update. Hopefully more pics soon as I get out there and snap some.
