  1. I take it your plans are towards an auto-x car? Looks pretty close to rust free - nice find!
  2. Your 70Z is absolutely immaculate. Don't change a thing.
  3. OH MY GOD That is not at all what I was expecting. I wonder if that sound can be achieved on a Z?
  4. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=155233 $400 for a rust free shell, which is apparently some $600 shipped, that's $1000. About the same as the price of that 260Z you were looking at.
  5. Holy crap, are you serious?! It cost me $350 to ship my 240z some ~225 miles. What's your secret?
  6. The other side of that though is that it costs more in the long run just to fix the rust on a rusty shell, unless it's a really small amount of rust. I'm really looking forward to being able to buy a really nice, clean, 100% rust free CA shell. There is an upside though, and that is, cars are cheap in CA. And, since 75 and older are smog exempt, 76+ shells don't seem to be favorable, whereas here it doesn't matter. Basically they're cheap, and solid. You might ask Sparks 280zt (I think that's his username) what he paid to ship a 280z from CA to NC. Should give you a good ball park figure.
  7. Good clean shells are really hard to find in the northeast. Even when they seem really clean, there's usually rust hiding. I would recommend just spending the extra coin to get a shell from the west coast. Some of the worst shells you can find in CA are probably better than 90% of what's in the northeast.
  8. Unless you're okay with lots of rust repair and body work, walking away was a good idea.
  9. It would be much easier to just buy the right insulators for the rear. What did you do with the ones that came with the car? You could also try a junk yard. I doubt you'll have to pay much for two of them.
  10. No, the strut insulator - or whatever it's called - AKA, the rubber piece at the top that has 3 studs you use to bolt the thing to the car, is shorter on a 240z. You need the 280z insulator, which is about an inch taller. The springs may or may not be adding to the problem though. I'm not sure.
  11. That's because the rear strut towers in a 280z are different than in a 240z. Also, could you please use some punctuation? Your posts are hard to read.
  12. I think someone did try to make a Z wiki page, but it never took off. I'm trying to remember who it was... I kinda wanna say it was rudypoochris but I don't think that's right. Edit: I can't believe that was right. Here's the thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135199&highlight=wiki
  13. Yep, both driver and passenger are fine. Amazingly.
  14. Stolen from another forum. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen. Look closely at the pics towards the bottom. So, how do you go from from this... http://www.mustang50magazine.com/fea..._fx/index.html To this? Answer: By going end over end after the tire wall.
  15. Was the 280z a 2+2? Did it have polished 5 slot mags? If so, he goes by Metallicar on here, and he's from Moorestown. Used to see him semi-often on the way to school. You should contact him and tell him about the site! I'd like to see pics of it.
  16. Link doesn't bring me to a fire damaged Z.
  17. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you haven't really put much effort into getting your current wiring to work. I think it would be a lot less work to try to get what you have working than to start over.
  18. Well, I don't have much useful to say but - From those who got a painless kit, I haven't heard anyone say it was actually painless. IE, painful. A painless kit came installed in my new Z. I ripped it out, and we're going through and cleaning it up. My dad is the electrician, so he's doing most of the hard work, and he says it's pretty much a PITA.
  19. It's supposed to be $300k?! I saw this a few days ago and expected it to be in the <$100k range like the GTR is. The specs they give are pretty impressive, but not $375k impressive. I don't think it'll sell well.
  20. Wow, you've been busy. Looks good! Kind of a funny coincidence, since earlier tonight I was wondering about updates on your project.
  21. Love those gauges. Saw them on a car in the for sale section and fell in love with them. Great to hear they work well too. These are definitely replacing the Autometer gauges on my list.
  22. That's a rather closed minded statement. You think getting that good at either of those is easy? Doubt it! Both of those take a lot of skill. You don't seem to think that though based on your phrase "ballerina on a bike" - sounds like you're putting him down to me.
  23. WOW. That was incredible. Here's a few I thought were cool.
