  1. You would have to drill out the current mounts in the tranny tunnel, do the same with ones from a 73 240z although other years might work, spot weld those mounts back in, and then you could use the later cross member.
  2. Beat me to it. I'm on and off all day, every day. First thing I do is get up, and check the four forums I frequent, this being one of them. It's usually the second one I check, I'd say. Then I go to class, rinse and repeat until bed time.
  3. I'll suggest stanceworks.com for anyone who is all about the poke and stretch.
  4. Did you weigh the heat shield material you put in?
  5. The search button is only great if it's actually been done before, and therefore searchable No truly blacked out Z has been done before to my knowledge.
  6. Indeed. I like people the way they are from the factory.
  7. Amen. I absolutely hate when someone quotes like 10 pictures just to say "wow, nice car!"
  8. I was thinking about this the other day, and how it would be done... Never actually expected to see one though! Impressive!
  9. I get what you're saying but on a street car, the 35lbs just isn't going to matter. On a race car, you wouldn't put in sound deadening in the first place for exactly that reason. I imagine you would have more weight difference in a full gas tank vs empty.
  10. Lol that first one isn't his real number. That's a PA area code. I'm wise to your tricks!
  11. 35lbs is nothing. If it was more like 75-100lbs I would agree with you.
  12. Is that a piece of wire stuck in the last pic? Seems to me they didn't care too much about the final product. I'm not an expert by any means, but those welds look terrible, and I would not put that piece on the car. I'm a little surprised Justin sent that out to you since he said he would only send the pieces out if they met his standards when he was selling the flares. I'm hoping he just wanted to show you he was trying to get them out... Do you know who designed these? I thought it was Monzter or Myron, but can't remember which. I'm guessing Myron since I have Monzter's suspension as my desktop background and his LCAs don't look like that.
  13. There is absolutely no way that car is worth more than 20k. RB26s aren't that much more expensive than RB25s. What I see is a US 280z with an RB26, rear disc conversion, spoiler, wheels, and ZG flares.
  14. What wheels are those? Project looks great, BTW, can't wait to see it finished.
  15. Perhaps. Sarcasm, among other things, can be hard to detect over the internet.
  16. $35 hardly warrants something a money pit. My Z (and probably yours, and every other HBZ member's) and Jeep are money pits - that camera is not.
  17. Shoulda come back the second time screaming with a grinder or something. They'd have left much faster.
  18. I had kinda figured on this. I somewhat priced out all the parts I would need to put it together and came to a rough estimate of 3k. The owner bought the motor whole and tried to keep as much as possible, but I figure some stuff will get lost anyway. Since the consensus seems to be that it's not worth it, I think I will pass on this one and get a complete motor from JHot Imports when I'm ready. Thanks for the input guys.
  19. Well, I found an RB26DETT for sale an hour from me. It is complete minus ECU and turbos/O2. Engine harness intact. It's torn down to the short block. It is an early R32 motor and will need to have the crank fixed. Per the owner's account, the cylinder bores, pistons, etc. all look fine, and it will just need to be put back together with new bearings, etc. It has an RB25 oil pan/pickup instead of the RB26 pan/differential. Basically the motor is mostly complete, disassembled, and in good condition. Also I believe it has an N1 water pump. No clutch or flywheel. I have never rebuilt a motor before, although my dad has plenty of experience with cars, and would likely be able to help me if I need help. I also don't really know what this is worth/if it's a good deal. His asking price is $1800. So, what do you guys think? Should I buy it? Pass on it? Questions/comments/advice? Here's two pics that were in the ad:
  20. If you're interested, there's a whole thread on the car on classiczcars.com
  21. One of my favorites. It is very nearly my idea of a "perfect" resto-mod.
  22. It's not called the stealership for nothin'.
