  1. While doing radiator research the other day, I realized HybridZ didn't have a cooling section, and had the same thought. Great suggestion, IMO.
  2. Edit: Scratch that. decided it was too much of a project, still looking. Ugh.
  3. From a '71 or '72? I'm assuming '72 since you said you have a '72 parts car with a mint interior, which I'm not interested in. '71 parts only.
  4. What build date was your 71? I can't afford much at the moment, but I'm semi-looking for a 71 dash, center console, wiring harness, and radiator. Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking only for '71 parts. I assume you're going to NJMP? I checked it out with my family on fathers day just as spectators, looks like a fun track.
  5. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2413227 Here's another with the same bumpers. The owner is BayAreaZT on here.
  6. That really sucks! Sounds like the damage isn't too bad though, and most importantly, nothing happened to you.
  7. Got a fire extinguisher for the barn about 2 years ago, since previously, if there had been a fire, I would've been completely outta luck.
  8. FWIW, and to be more specific, my 280Z had a lightly built motor (cam, unilite distributor, clutch and flywheel, port and polish, headers, flat top pistons, and some other things) with triple Weber 40 DCOE carbs, came with some spare parts, and a few general upgrades around the car. It has rust, but not a ton, but had almost no body work, just some bondo work in the passenger floor, which I've long since gotten rid of. It was $2500. Doesn't sounds like that one has any other engine mods, but is also rust free, which is sort of a trade off. However, I think I overpaid a little bit for mine. Hope that helps you a little more...
  9. Oh wow, that sounds awful. I'd like to think that isn't the case with mine, since it, generally speaking, looks pretty solid except for those few areas, but I will definitely check it out. Do you have pictures of your rust repair, before, during, after? I'm interested to see what you did/went through.
  10. Sounds like it's rust free, has triple 45mm carbs, has some little negligible things done to it, and needs paint and body work, correct? If so, no, NOT worth 6k, IMO. Divide that number by 3 or 4, and I think that's a more fair price.
  11. Interesting. I seem to have picked up at least 5 mosquito bites between yesterday and today. Overall though, seems like there have been a bit fewer mosquitos.
  12. Didn't do much today, gutted my '72 240Z dash for new wiring/gauges, and started to make a mount for the fuse block and whatnot for under the dash. Before I got the car, the PO told me he thought the car had been flared at one point. When I got it, I looked around for evidence of this, and saw nothing. No welds on the inside of the quarter as seen from inside the hatch, fender lip looked normal, etc. Well, I looked around a bit more underneath the car, and around the passenger side fender lip, is what looks like silicon, and the inner fender seems to have some modification. Another thing I noticed is that the fender lip, which is normally spot welded to the inner fender, is not. If I find that it was indeed flared at one point, which I'm thinking it is, I'll probably flare it again. We'll see. In the meantime, I need to... - Buy some new bolts/nuts for the clutch slave, tranny mount, engine mounts, drive shaft, and probably a few more things that I'll probably find as I make progress. Also need one single nut to finish bolting on the fan to the water pump. - Buy a new radiator for a 240z, because apparently, my 280z radiator doesn't fit, and it's in pretty good condition , so I don't want to trim it. - Wire the car. I have no idea what I'm doing here, so I'll get my dad and my friend to help. - Install the dash and gauges - Fix the brakes. Probably just needs to be bled. - Replace the mustache bar bushings. There's about a 1/2" of play, up and down. That may be more than just the bushings though. - Mount a fuel pump. That should be it to get the car running and driving, but not quite road worthy.
  13. Oddmanout, your Z looks great! I love the black/orange theme.
  14. You can find new floors at the site linked in my post, as well as a number of other places. http://www.datsunzparts.com/
  15. Yep. I'm pretty critical, so I usually notice these things. The wrinkle is nothing a body shop can't handle. Not a huge deal.
  16. Thought: Get some 18-20 gauge steel, cut it to about 2" wide, appropriate length strips, bead roll each strip lengthwise, and drill holes on both sides so that you can spot weld them on.
  17. For your car, chrome. Don't like painted bumpers (unless black), and chrome would go better with the rest of the parts on your car than CF.
  18. Honestly, I'm not going to complain too much. The usual alternative to this weather is 90*, and humid as hell. I'll take this. FWIW, the sun is out right now.
  19. It came with a few of the pieces for the conversion, but no I wasn't. I was planning on a Subaru LSD, and keeping it in the forward position, unless there is a good reason to move it back that I am not aware of. From what I've read, it was just to reduce noise. Granted, I haven't read much on it. Edit: Just got the drive shaft in. I measured wrong. I got it from Collectindust240Z, in CT.
  20. I saw one at an auto show, and while cool, I didn't really think much of it. Not long ago I saw one on the road for the first time. I too was impressed. Very cool car.
  21. Didn't get as much done today as I would have liked. Got my 280Z radiator out... doesn't fit. Great. Got out what I thought was the correct driveshaft that came with the car. I measured, and it would seem that it's 2" too long, and it was the shorter of the two I got with the car. It's a series 1 with what I believe is the stock rear end in the forward position, and it currently has an L28+5spd in it. Any ideas? I haven't tried putting it in yet, but I doubt I measured wrong. I'd like to avoid a custom drive shaft, or taking off the transmission. I do have two 4spds (from a 76 and 72) if absolutely necessary though. I did get the throttle linkage hooked up though, and the shifter is back in. Uh... that's about it. Hopefully I get more done tomorrow. I later took a wire brush to the rust on the A pillar, and along the weather strip lip. It doesn't look as bad as I thought, but I haven't cut any out yet. I don't think I'm going to get the car on the road before summer ends though, so that may be a winter project.
