  1. You're from Philly? Congrats on finding the car, it's not easy to find a clean car here. And second, I live +/- 30 minutes from you. Welcome!
  2. You're taking the flares off the red car? I would think with it's history, it would lessen the value, or the "coolness" of it, if you did. Or are they just regular 80s dealership flares? I don't really know. However, I do think the ZGs will look better. Much better.
  3. Just you, that's how RC car bodies are typically held on.
  4. I will be joining that club this summer, provided all goes as planned. ...it probably won't lol. We'll see what happens.
  5. What? Do you have one? A '70 240z that is, not a left nut lol.
  6. +1 Best of luck to you though. If I were you I'd be glad he took a stand if it's really that bad living with his mother.
  7. Happy Birthday! Hope you remember at least some of it.
  8. Looks like a great car to start with. Out of curiosity, what's the VIN?
  9. You must've had a 1/8th scale monster truck or something, because it's pretty hard to get a 4wd "stadium" truck or touring car style RC to wheelie. I gave up because: 1) Money 2) Not really much fun driving it back and forth 50x doing the same thing, especially for the cost. 3) Couldn't get my damn engine to fit after I stripped a spur gear, despite the fact I had it in previously. 4) Not a big factor, but the community. IMO, it makes a difference. Half the RC car community seems to be punk 13 year old kids. The RC plane community is probably a bit older, and I'm sure RC planes are much more fun (and expensive).
  10. You have to modify the rear of the car where the tail lights bolt to. It's pretty much just a little cutting/drilling, I doubt there's much, if any, welding needed.
  11. Came across a pic of the car I was referring to.
  12. To his credit, the wheels aren't bad at all. The rest though... yuck.
  13. I don't think so. Similar, but I don't think those are subtle Z flares. The rears have a bit of a bubble shape to them, and the fronts have a large lip - the subtle z flares don't.
  14. Heh, I have #248 of 3000 parked next to my grandmas barn. Not quite in that condition though.
  15. These two posts sum it up very well. It's like 6 dollars for 8 tiny little wheel nuts. EVERYTHING for those things is absurdly overpriced. I once had ~$900. I spent it all on RC parts, and it when was gone, I realized that I had gained almost nothing, and I knew I was done. For the cost of parts and what not, there isn't a lot of reward. With an RC car, there is no feeling of being pushed back in the seat... you just watch. Very boring IMO. I don't regret getting out of that hobby one bit.
  16. Congrats! Better condition than the one I got for $50 more, and you can drive it too (mine has no title). Have fun with it.
  17. It was on craigslist a few months ago, so no, sorry.
  18. The orange one? That's really not too far out of reach, and if you just took out the black stripe on either side, you'd simplify it a TON. I'm a horrible painter, but even after screwing it up, the body I did doesn't look that bad.
  19. The white part is ice. I'm guessing part of the ice is white because it lifted a little bit off the surface or something.
  20. I've seen it done once on a white 280z. It looked a bit out of place, you need both to pull it off, IMO.
