  1. You did - VinhZXT showed me the car a while ago, I passed on it for a few reasons, the body work being one, money being the other. If you can verify that it has little/no rust, and you don't mind the body work, I think you should consider buying it, price pending.
  2. I think your shift key is stuck Fix it please. It reads like you are yelling.
  3. <-- Jealous. Congrats on the acquisition though.
  4. That looks fantastic. I especially like the valve cover.
  5. The color in the second link I think could look really good on a Z. It's a little light, but if it's how it looks in the pictures, I think it'll look great. However, if it's the same color as in the third pic, I agree it's a bit dull. Looks more like a grey there, than a graphite color. Now that you mention the Honda, I remember seeing a partly completed car in the classifieds once (right after I bought my car, of course) that was painted a fairly dark graphite color that looked GREAT. As I recall, I think it was a color off a Honda. I'll see if I can find it. I might have pictures of it saved somewhere, but definitely not on this computer, as this was probably in early 2007. I'm wondering if this is it, but I think it's the same as the one you posted. I remember it being quite a bit darker though...
  6. I think you just described my 240z purchase to a T. From the paying too much, to once being a CA car, down to all the rust problems that come with being in the NE for 25 years (in my case), as well as buying it anyway because of the excitement of being a 240z owner, and even the bad repairs, although mine had different repairs. Be thankful that your car is actually salvageable. Mine is in MUCH worse condition, and I (stupidly) paid $300 more. Granted, I didn't know what I was going to find, even with what I could see in the guy's garage, which wasn't doing the car any favors. Anyway, good luck with your project! The car actually doesn't look too bad. Edit: Actually, now that I look at it, it's really not in bad
  7. What don't you like about it? You certainly shouldn't move it, if that's what you're implying. It looks AWFUL when people put it in the roll pan. As for my opinion on it, I think the location is good, but the one thing that seems to be common for those that smooth out the rear is they don't give it any style, just flat. I think that was your goal, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it might look better if you were to add something - I don't know what - to it to give it some sort of shape. Personally, I don't much care for the flat look, but then again, I am pretty biased towards keeping the stock tail lights, and surrounds.
  8. I don't think you can really beat it for free. Looks like a pretty good car to start with. Good luck!
  9. That looks great!! If you end up doing them for members, I'd probably be interested in a set provided I have the funds.
  10. Glad you're ok man. Now, since your car is dead, what are you gonna do with that perfectly good engine? It's not like you have another perfectly good car to put it in... hmm...
  11. First, I sort of know where you're coming from. I've always wanted to build a Z with just basic suspension mods, and an NA motor with moderate HP. Second, why trade your entire car? Just trade motor for motor. It would probably be a lot easier, and you already have a clean shell.
  12. MJ, I know you're short on money, but I'm wondering if it would be better to just cut your losses now and go with MS, as you were planning to do.
  13. Of those, E39 M5, E46 M3, and I'll add on a B6 S4 (if it's in the price range, I don't know).
  14. Pretty much any mod should be able to. You might try BRAAP.
  15. Personally I think you should leave the doors as is, I don't think it would look very good/natural otherwise. As for the rear suicide doors, I don't think that would work well with the flares on.
  16. +1. Loved my senior year. When I signed up for classes junior year, I had 3 AP classes, and 2 others, and due to having 3 AP courses, I only needed 1 elective. However, things didn't work out as planned, so instead I took 1 honors, 3 other classes, and I had to sign up for two more electives since I now only had 4 major classes... never did sign up for third elective, just a second. And any time I didn't have class was simply an open block for me to do as I pleased. I'm so glad they didn't let me take my original course schedule.
  17. Yeah that's true. I took apart the majority of my 280z in ~30*F weather. It took me like two days just to get some piece of the wiring harness undone because it was really tight and I couldn't feel my hands, lol.
  18. It sure beats hot and humid weather. You can always put on more layers in cold weather.
  19. Looks like it might be a Miata.
  20. I think you can do a lot better than that based on your location. You should try to find the best shell you can.
