  1. Don't give up, if the engine is the only thing wrong with the car, you can have it fixed pretty easily. You might also make a wanted ad here on HybridZ, since it seems lots of people on here have spare engines, old engines no longer in use due to swaps, etc. Making an ad on Craigslist might also be a good idea, since some people have spares they're not using, but aren't motivated to sell them.
  2. I don't really know the going cost for a running L28, but I really doubt you'd pay more than $400. FWIW, I managed to get a complete parts car for $200, and the engine runs fine, now that we've got it sorted out. The thing about getting a motor from the junkyard though is that you probably won't be able to see if it runs or not.
  3. You might be best off just getting another engine from the junkyard.
  4. Sounds like you may want to have your car media blasted to really see what's there, or not there, as the case may be.
  5. FWIW, I got that piece along with doglegs, and a rocker. The rocker and doglegs look like they fit pretty well, but when I test fitted the rear lower quarter piece, it did not fit AT ALL. To say the least, I am pretty displeased... My recommendation is to make your own if you can, or get one off a wrecked car or something.
  6. 14 gauge is pretty thick. I would think it would be thick enough. If not, I would definitely think 12 gauge would be enough.
  7. FWIW, if I were to make one, I'd probably use aluminum. Could be expensive though... probably not the cheapest solution.
  8. Have you seen Austin's splitter (linked above)? Since his is long since completed, I think he should be able to answer your questions.
  9. Thought: Take out your passenger seat, and cover the passenger area with cardboard, plastic, whatnot. Put the engine there, although you may want to disassemble it a bit to reduce the weight over there. maybe take off the head and intake and put those in the hatch and in front of the drivers seat. As for the passenger seat, unbolt the back of the seat from the bottom, and store it in the hatch area. Make sure it's all tied down and ship it.
  10. I prefer the look with the 240z bumper over the shaved look.
  11. KTM has them on his car. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135545
  12. Actually, it may be sold. Some dude wrecked his 240sx and wants to DD it. I think it's going for 1500 now though. Either way, I feel bad for the new owner. Agreed, $500 parts car.
  13. I spoke with him, and he didn't seem to know much. He has the car for sale on a local forum as well, and the VIN he posted doesn't match the year of the car. Buyer beware.
  14. Man I was about to have a heart attack. I've been trying to contact a guy about a 240z for a week now, and thought you bought it. Congrats on the purchase though! It looks good, and the rust free bit is even better.
  15. What? This is #935? If that's true, Hybridz or not, I'm afraid I agree with Daeron. Edit: I see. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention.
  16. I got my average of 2.68 with a laptop trackpas With said laptop trackpad, my best was 0.00
  17. His car is a series one. I vote for a whole new door. Those tears look kinda weird - not sure how much of your door was there... looks like it may have been rusty.
  18. Probably because of the stalk on the steering column. Not sure why they would go on and off by themselves though... Not sure that I'd pay 2000 for it, but I don't think it's a bad deal, per se. Wait for someone else to chime in, since I still consider myself a noob, especially in the buying department.
  19. Hmm... I think that's the car I've been trying to get my friend to buy forever. Did you buy it, or plan to?
  20. Got a 6.xx the first time because I didn't get it the first few tries. Restarted, and was at 2.26...then accidentally clicked and was off by 290... ♥♥♥♥ Restarted AGAIN, and ended up with a 2.68. I think I can do better.
  21. I'd say if the frame rails, subframe and rocker are reasonably good, it would be worth restoring to me, granted I'm from the east coast. It doesn't sound too bad, honestly.
