  3. post #57 from the link below details pricing/shipping. both hatch seal & lock gaskets are in stock and ready to ship. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=120084&page=3
  4. finally got my 'monzter copy' fuel gas tank cell completed and installed. big kudos to jeff for answering my numerous emails, phone calls and questions so i could figure out how to do it. just fired up the z and it [on initial test] works great. i plan to get a few miles on it prior to heading to ohio at the end of this month for the 08 convention and lapping at mid-ohio. i'll post pics soon [tried to upload them but keep getting a 'FastCGI Error' thingy]. advantages; i've retained my spare tire well, looks completely stock from the back or underneath, can be installed in any 240z i may have. disadvantages; took a long time and was $$$. if this all tests ok, i'll have my early 280z tank for sale. -6 an fittings welded [feed] where the drain plug was, [return] into the stock location. was blasted and powdercoated on the outside but could use a 'coating' inside prior to use.
  5. i can supply you with a hatch seal and door lock gaskets. premium stuff-i had a comment from a z owner that has restored many and feels the hatch seal is better than what nissan sold. i have them priced in a group buy here on hybrid. let me know if you're interested and i can give u the link for pricing.
  6. David Palermo, Rochester, NY, 1tuffz daily driver, 1992 Nissan 240sx se convertible or vert. 1 of 600 in red for '92 1973 Datsun 240z, my special driver pulling auto-x duty track duty at daytona intl an old time delay night shot...
  7. jerry, i did just what you are asking about 3 years ago. no issues, many track days and now over 10,000 miles. go for it.
  8. mine is under the dash, specifically on the right side parallel to the car length under the far right side of the glovebox. tucks under there nicely, away from the elements. this shot will give you a decent idea of where. you can see the heater fan to the left...
  9. passed the mark of 10,000 miles on the swap last tuesday-august 19th-get this...while hot lapping at watkins glen international!
  10. well, it's almost time for me to turn in the keys but before i do there are still a few last 'errands' to run... here's a pic of my son taking his turn trying on the 'p' suit, he likes the fit. here's one my son took, a bit better than the nite shot i captured...
  11. i think i'd wait at least a few hundred miles [lol] prior to adding another 200 ponies to this beast. i don't dare drive it to the full potential as i have little seat time in a rear engine car that can spank my little z at will. i did take it to a car show this afternoon, got lots of stares, pics and lookers. was kind of fun pretending that i was rich for a few hours. does that make me a "poser"?
  12. you're correct mikey, i guess it did a quick glance at the mfg date. it's a 2001. tag in the door shows the official importer of this gem is northern california diagnostic lab. the owner had an incident at wgi when the less than predictable rear suspension did something strange, tail stepped out and kissed an immovable object. the owner has raced his 1997 911 in porsche club events for many years now and is a very experienced racer [regularly has podium finishes]. the gt2 is now equipped with stouter engine mounts as well as some sort of aftermarket [i can't remember exactly what he told me what was done] rear suspension parts [porsche still denies any issues with toe changes thru the suspension travel]. my question that began this post was more rhetorical than real as i would never abuse or take advantage of any vehicle that was other than my own. in fact i [as clive will tell you] granny drive my z at the glen. don't get me wrong i'm no slouch when i'm running it but there's no slamming of the pedals and my shifts take long [no speed shifting]. my friend has also let me drive some of the other cars he's had in the stable over the years to include; acura nsx, corvette c6 z06, infiniti g35 coupe & sedan and lastly, the biggest p car, his ferrari f355. interestingly enough he's run every single one of these cars at the glen, and hard. we were talking the other day and i mentioned that i was pretty happy that i was consistently running lap times in the low 2:20's and figured that the gt2 was capable of low teens. he grins and says it's gone as quick as...2:06! i've been driving it since wednesday afternoon and it goes back monday morning. it can be a bit unnerving when i think that if something happened i'd have to make a big dent in my retirement plan to pay...or that i'd become over exuberant and wind up wearing silver bracelets and get a room with free meals:icon_frow. overall, i've been blessed with his generosity over the the past 13+ years, and let him know that it is much appreciated. of course, the gt2 was detailed last night in preparation for it's reluctant return. forgot to mention. one of the things i am to do on the car is replace the broken [black] air dam lip. he comes into my office yesterday and says, "dave, you know the front end will begin to float over 158mph [i had removed the damaged lip the evening prior and was now driving it lipless], so be careful". i look at him puzzled and say "huh?". he laughs, tells me again and i look even more puzzled and let him know that i enjoy my regular driving privileges and intend to keep my license by simply crusing in the cool car. mikey, he also told me that like my z it has no, traction control, or other stability save the driver gizmos. the power steering is nice however.
  13. so i have the use of my friends 2000 porsche gt2 club sport, i'm doing a bit of work on it and get to use it until monday morning. just washed it and thinking about a little cruise. this car is a boost master, 1.1 bar producing around 450hp. the club sport model is the only one in the us and includes, cf recaros, 6 pt harnesses, 6pt roll cage, lowered, and more stuff [long story as to how he came to own it]. it's quicker than my ls1 z and like a new scalpel vs. my machete z. what would you do if you were given the keys...? front view you can see my z waiting patiently in the garage. maybe even getting a bit jealous, that i'm with another...woman.
  14. search. check this thread... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111595
  15. i had the opportunity to meet shin a few years ago while in calif. very nice, interesting AND talented man. i purchased a 'see through' or cutaway [don't know what else to call it] pen & ink drawing he had done of the s30. funny, i had it stored in my basement awaiting some time to get it matted/mounted/framed and it got...wet. i contacted shin and asked to purchase another-he asked me what happened to the first one he sold me, i sheepishly replied and he told me, "no worry, i'll send you another". we also discussed a toy 2000gt he was restoring for the toy museum and a coffee table book he was working on as well. artist, mechanic, designer and a gentleman! i absolutely am enamored with his alum 2000gt work. true craftsmanship.
  16. hey all, chris holmes [albany, ny z club] and i have decided that, as the zcon 08 track is approximately 1.5 hours from the host hotel, we would head there the night prior, so that we are well rested before a long day at the track. also makes partaking of a few cold ones the evening prior a bit more relaxing... i have contacted many hotels in the mid-ohio complex area and worked a preliminary group rate. the criteria i used are; less than 8 miles from the track, a/c & fridge & 2 beds in room, free wireless internet & breakfast and close to local restaurants [for dinner tues eve]. the rate will be less than $56/nite + tax. do the math, you share the room with 1-2 people and it will run you $25-$32. pretty cheap for a good nite sleep, less than 10 min from the track, arriving rested and ready to drive...FAST! the stay would be for tuesday evening, sept 30th, departing oct 1st. i have it narrowed down to 2 hotels and need to get a head count so i can go back to them and negotiate a final rate. once i've finalized the place/rate and have all the details [see next paragraph] i'll post them here. once finalized, i'll provide hotel contact information, rate and the 'group' to identify yourself with for the discount. each individual will then be responsible for booking/paying for their own rooms. i'm simply providing the legwork & rate negotiation. personally, i've found that driving tired leads to mistakes on the track and i've spent too much time, sweat & money to wreck my z for something i can avoid. please [if you are planning on running your z or spectating] and would like a room, contact me directly no later than august 19th with the number of people interested so i can create a 'rough' count to use to determine our group rate. after aug 19th, you are on your own. david one_tuffz@yahoo.com
  17. cheetah i believe. had one of these in ho scale, orange and fast!
  18. skunkteeth, i'm not certain if there is a write up anywhere on hbz. would you be willing to provide a step by step tutorial of what you've done with your dash? this would be a great 'sticky' for hbz and allow others to repeat your success!
  19. looking & sounding great marc. i'll be at the convention so i'll get to see the new beast in person!
  20. here is mine. couldn't afford the chrome so i had it de-chromed, then mounted it, welded it, pulled it, welded the backside, holes, ground everything down, a bit of bondo, paint and voila! did this back in 1991, holding up pretty well.
