  1. Maybe the O2 sensors are clogged? grasping at straws now!! Keep us up to date on what the problem turns out to be.. Tim
  2. You guys are out of CONTROL!!!!! I'm gonna show this list to my Wife next time she complains that I'm looking at another car!!!!! Tim
  3. sounds like the PCM thinks the engine is still cold once it's warmed up. Maybe the temp sensor? Or maybe one or more of the injectors are stuck. Are all of your header tubes the same temp? Try tapping on the injectors with a small wrench (13mm is the correct size ) to free them up. My LT1 did that, but I think due to the engine sitting for so long. Tim
  4. You'll need to make lower and upper radiator mounts. Tim
  5. Dan J. When/if you go LT1, go the extra and get TunerCat. It is well worth it and the guys at TunerCat have been very helpful and responsive. I love the idea of laying in bed at night (or sitting on the throne), and tuning the car!! It is cool as hell. For the money, even if Mudge or other offer to help you out for free, it is nice to have the convenience. and not having to ship things back and forward. The software is very easy to use. I was very apprehensive about jacking around with the PCM, but it is pretty much fool proof (as proven by my ability to use it!!). Tim
  6. No it's a Rover 2600. See my post above yours. Tim
  7. Ha Ha, that thing is over the top!! I used to run a Rover like that in oval dirt track, with a 302 cobra motor. Mounted the radiator in the back and used an old 3 speed F100 manual gearbox. Lots of fun. I also had the headers coming up through the hood, but at least the engine was below the hood line!!! Tim
  8. Huh? I fired mine without a pedal assembly even installed. Before I even edited my PCM. Maybe it's the way I wired it all in?! Tim
  9. The only difference in air dams between the 240 and the 280 is the turn signal light provisions in the airdam for the 240. I am using a 280 airdam and a fiberglass front bumper on my 240. I am not using the stock turn signal lamps. Tim
  10. If you did happen to set at TDC on exhaust stroke, then just change your plug wires 180 degrees, or exactly opposite to how you have it now! Tim
  11. A trick I used on my old (late 60s) land rover SWB, which had a 2.8 skyline L6 BTW, was to use an A/C compressor as a tire inflator. When I drove on the beach, I would deflate the tires to about 0.8 bar. When I got back to the road, I would plug in my air hose to the quick connect coupler mounted on the front bumper, flick the switch on the dash (to engage the compressor clutch), and inflate my tires. With the engine set at about 1500 rpm, it would inflate all four tires to full pressure in less than 5 minutes!! It would take 15 to 30 minutes with one of those 12Volt compressors, that is, of course, if it didn't crap out!! Worked well for several years!! Tim
  12. 2 clicks and I was out!!! Tim
  13. Either a set of block hugger headers (it sounds like your engine has the oem casr iron manifolds), or cut the steering shaft, put in another universal joint and a bearing. Headers likely easier, but it will also mean adapting your existing exhaust system. Tim
  14. Mike check out your latest Summit catalogue. There is a company in there that does all kinds of windshields and complete kits. Don't know if they do Z cars, but would be a place to start. Tim
  15. Although I hate Compaq, you can't miss with this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2726800916&category=31536 Tim
  16. Guys, aren't you comparing apples with watermellons? If you are going to compare the tripple carb set-up (highly modified fuel delivery system, which costs $$$$), then compare it to an aftermarket EFI system with bigger TB, etc. then compare the performance. As for WOW, and Bling Bling factor: Tripple carbs win Tim
  17. Is that legal? Did you get permission from Bowling and Grippo, or is this an accepted practice? Just curious. Man, you are an e-geek!!! Printing your own boards!! cool! Tim
  18. I received my stuff from Grippo about a week or so ago. The rest of the stuff is coming from DigiKey sometime next month. One or two pieces were on back order, so I told them to wait for a complete order before sending the parts. I'll start assembling my megasquirt this summer. I haven't decided whether to convert my V8 in the truck from the 750 double pumper to FI, or to use it on the ZXT engine and transplant it into my other 240? Tim
  19. When it comes to buying tools, remember: Tool purchases are capital investments, and should never be figured into the vehicle budget. Always buy the best quality you can afford, and for certain tools, buy the best quality you can't afford. You'll have them forever, and if you are a true car nut, you'll do another project, and another, and another, plus you'll need to maintain the current project, so the tools, amortized over your lifetime (and your kids' lifetimes - if you buy good tools), are extremely cheap!!!! Food for thought. Tim
  20. Jeremy, Have you tried un-doing what you did with the gauge wiring? Get it back to how it was when it was running, then do things one at a time until you find the problem. If you have fuel, spark and compression........ Tim
  21. Like you said, the RX7 is going to be a problem to modify because of smog requirements in CA, so you will have to go 240Z, if those are your choices. Tim
  22. If you read back a bit it was suggested that he upgrade to a later PCM. Tim
  23. Got gas? I'm sure that you have checked, but you know.....sometimes the most obvious gets overlooked. Tim
  24. And don't forget FreeScan. That is a great little free application that has some pretty cool functions, including a little dash board (seven gauges I think) that shows RPM, Water Temp, MAP etc etc), and allows you to reset the trouble codes, which TC doesn't allow. Freescan can (obviously) run and read the PCM while the engine is running. The price is great too!!! FREE!! Tim
  25. While I whole heartedly agree with Mike and Mike (the exact reason I'm driving a $700 ZX instead of a $15G econobox), an automobile is probably the worst investment you can make (that includes those of us spending $10G and more on our 30+ year old Z-cars). On the other hand though, you can't take it with you when you go, so spend it if you got it. Have fun while you're young and able to, as long as you have some $$$ put away so that you don't end up being a burden to your kids, or society in general. "Smoke 'em if you got 'em folks!" - - - - and that applies double if you can smoke 4 of them at the same time!! Tim
