  1. Had my first race in the ZXT this morning. {setup for the locals: 04h30 I-405 N going up the Sepulveda Pass, just North of Getty Center Drive} Anyways, cruising along at about 75mph going up the hill and I pass a very nice silver 280ZXT (I know because it had all the OEM turbo badging and the 'turbo' stickers on the lower door). Well, obviously another nice Z perks my interest so I'm watching him out of the corner of my eye and I see him coming, not hellava fast but coming up on my right. So I'm thinking, maybe he just wants to pull along side and say HiYa, but taking no chances, I drop to 4th and hold my speed. He pulls next to me, then past me....so I think, It's on Man!!! Probably more due to gear selection than anything else, I drop the hammer, feel the rear squat like a sumo, and I squirt past him. As I get just along side him, I shift up to 5th, just to give a little taste of HKS SSV blow off! I wish my speedo went higher than 85mph, 'cause we were hauling....after I was satisfied that this could not be mistaken for anything other than a good spanking, I let off, and resumed my cruising. He came blowing by me and then slowed about 1/4 mile up the freeway. We played for a while and he exitted the freeway. Good fun, and better than a bucket of coffee at 4:30 in the morning. (BTW, even though it's the 405 freeway - worst traffic spot in the Nation - the traffic was very, very light) I think that, since my car has no badging and looks a bit rough (left front fender and bucket in primer) he thought it would be an easy spank...NOT!!!! Hey after 2 + years of being a member, my first kill story!! Tim
  2. Did you tell the owner about HybridZ......looks like a good potential member!! Tim
  3. I'm glad my wife doesn't cook at home any more (hope she never decides to lurk on this board) :malebitchslap: Tim
  4. Does your wife have a sister lol.... Can you lower the entire engine? Tim
  5. no sorry, I only know that the Q45 is 3.54:1 Tim
  6. Just to keep it going as my daily driver for now. As soon as the V8 is done (if I haven't died of old age, or gotten oltimers and lost track of my projects), I will be dropping that drivetrain into my other 240 and dumping the fat pig ZX chassis, or drop another LT1 in that!! Tim
  7. I absolutely agree! Which brings up another point: Idiots who feel it totally appropriate to drive 60mph in the fast lane (65mph limit with traffic cruising at 70-80), and are just oblivious to their surroundings and what they are doing to the traffic flow!!! Tim
  8. All I have used for my entire project (lots o' fabbing), is my Harbor Freight gasless MIG (MIG with flux core wire), and my little 4 inch makita grinder with cutting disks. My welder cost me $300 and something a couple of years ago and had performed well. The actual construction time is minimal, it's the design and trial and error test fitting that takes time. For example, for the trans mount and the Diff mount I probably spent a whole day just laying under the car going over different solutions in my mind. Once I made up my mind on how I wanted to do it, it took me a couple of hours to actually make them. One of these days I need to break down and buy a reg and gas bottle for my welder!!! I would spend money on a cutting torch setup. You will end up spending more time on the piece because you will have to clean-up the cuts with a grinder anyways. Using a cutting disk gives a clean cut that requires very little clean-up, and smoothing. I bought an Oxy-Acetylene welding/cutting kit for fabbing my headers, and haven't touched it since. Tim
  9. Not at all....I just didn't want to see your post go unanswered. , maybe this will spur someone into giving up some info for you.... Tim
  10. That would be cool!! Agreed on the number of digits, since 85 MPH is equal to 136 KPH. Tim
  11. yeah I would put that tire as a spare and put the spare or a new tire on the car. The safety factor is not worth the $100 bucks you're saving. Tim
  12. OMFG!! a BMW 3 series "Type R".......will it never end!!!!
  13. Just my 2c worth: I don't think that this type of behaviour is generation based. I think that it's been going on since cars were invented. Tim
  14. What do you mean? Changing out the cartridges? The only thing that may make it difficult is if the pin that holds the hub to the lower control is seized in place, they can be a bear to get out. I have never had all that much trouble, even at the JYs, maybe I've just been lucky. Tim BTW, you may want to change the word "advice" in your signature to "advise". Tim
  15. Jeremy, Got to the PO just before closing yesterday afternoon. Wasn't much difference between first class and Priority mail, so I sent it priority. You should have it wednesday. Tim
  16. Got you beat by 4mm dude! I once pulled a 14mm wrench from the rear tire before, open end in the tire!! I bet that was the right rear tire huh? Tim
  17. I always maintained that I would be happy to make some mounts, but untill my car is on the road and I've road tested my mount, I feel very uncomfortable selling them. Tim
  18. Going 60 thou on a 350 block is pushing the limit, and you won't have any room for rebuilds down the road, but for that price, get the pakage and replace the pistons with 30 thou oversize. Tim
  19. According to the FSM: It runs for 17 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the coolant temp is above 212 degrees to cool the temp of the fuel in the injectors and hoses. Tim
  20. I've heard mine running several times lately, about 5 minutes or so after I've switched the engine off. Really freaked me out the first time!! Tim
