  1. Aux, Don't buy the pre-made floor pans, just go to the local steel yard and pick up some 18 gauge sheet metal. Much cheaper and stronger. While you're at it, you might as well get some rectangular tubing and put in some subframe connectors!! Tim
  2. Yeah me to!! I was 'jonesin' hard man!! I even emailed Dan to see what was up Tim
  3. Aw Dan, that's not playing nice!!!! Come on....give us some more clues!! Tim
  4. I'll bet that the floorpans are rusted at the join with the frame rails!! Tim
  5. Don't forget to add in the core charge ($500), but still it looks like a promising source. Looks like they use good quality parts in their rebuilds. Tim
  6. Hey Aux, I've said this many times before, and I still maintain: If you think you have a perfect rust proof car....you don't!! I went through the same surprise, thinking my Z was cancer free...Had holes the size of pennies after I scraped off the undercoating!!! Hey if you want a road trip, come on down and we can weld in some floors for you! Tim
  7. Dale, Don't rule out the EGR valve. i had a very similar problem recently with my 83 ZXT. Went out and pulled it into the driveway....everything cool. Came back an hour later and fired it up again to do a tune up, and it started hard, and idled very low, almost stalling. I was convinced it was a vacuum leak. Spent an hour tracing vaccum lines. I finally pulled off the vacuum line from the EGR valve and closed it with my thumb. The idle tone changed! (huh???) So then I replaced the line on the valve and tapped the top of it with a wrench. The idle cleared up and the car has run smoother that ever before since. Tim
  8. Even with aluminum, I highly recommend that you use a bender. Tim
  9. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html and the search function will answer just about all of your questions.
  10. Pete, So let me get this right. Order the 3 items from the Megasquirt group buy: ~~~MegaSquirt ECU Partial Kit ~~~PCB Only for Relay and Power Board ~~~PCB Only for MegaSquirt Stimulator Place the 'pre-scripted' order from Digikey, which comes out to about $48. That's it?!! Tim
  11. It will be after the car is completely up to temp. As the car warms up and the thermostat opens, it gets a rush of cool fluid, closing the thermostat again. Tim And no, I'm not 'playing'. I posted during the time you guys were posting. Tim
  12. What temp thermostat do you have in it? [edit] nevermind, too slow posting[/edit] Just a thought.....how big (small) are your pulleys. Maybe the water pump is turning too quicly causing cavatation? Tim
  13. sonofabeaache!!! Damn California special blends!!! Tim
  14. I'm still completely baffled as to exactly what to order to get a complete MegaSquirt Kit. The megasquirt website is clear as mud, at night, with no moon and sunglasses on!!! Tim
  15. Yeah, pretty much sucks! $2.30+ here in the LA area for 91 octane. Tim
  16. Keep in mind that carbs like volume, not pressure, thus the need for larger ID lines. IMHO the 3/8 ally lines will be adequate. Tim
  17. Agreed, but the ease of bending and flaring definitely outweighs the extra effort involved in securing the lines properly. A handfull of rubber insulated 'P' clamps is all that is needed. You would want to put the same amount/type of effort into SS or steel lines anyways. Tim
  18. What do you guys think about this? Worth it, or better putting that $$$ towards a full blown EMS? http://www.sdsefi.com/eic.html Tim
  19. Sure. Let me box it up and ship it. I'll let you know how much it cost me. Shoot me your addy. Tim
  20. Go to http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html, and order the swap manual. It will answer all of your questions. With the LT1/T56 (at least in my case) no major modifications are necessary to the unibody clearances. Tim
