  1. I seem to remember reading something recently that IRS that doesn't use the sideshaft as a structural part of the suspension is not subject to that rule exclusion. I wish the search function worked..... Tim
  2. Dude, Sounds like you're stuck in some kind of time vortex. You have bigger problems to deal with...... . Sorry couldn't resist. My time stamps are working OK. Have you set up the correct time zone in your profile? Can't think of anything else?! Tim
  3. Carb cleaner followed by copious amounts of HOT soapy water. A 'friends' car huh .....Come on Owen, don't be embarrased.....you can admit it's your car!! Tim
  4. Now that I have my set, I see those maximas at the JYs all the time it seems. If it wasn't such a BEEAACH of a task to get them off, I would pull them and sell them, but not worth the effort!! Tim
  5. If you're referring to the new gen LT1 (ie not the early '70s), then no way dude. The LT1 '93 on, intake has no water passages, and no distributor hole. Tim
  6. I've not heard of 240sx brackets? You can use the 240sx calipers with the brakets from Ross, or use the Maxima brakets with the 280zx calipers and rotors, which I am doing. The advantage to the 240sx setup is the ability to retain the e-brake, which you can't easily do with the 280zx setup. Tim
  7. Why not just put a SBF in that ZX? That should be a fun project. BTW, the ZX rear should be strong enough, so transplanting the ford rear would be a bunch of work for not much gain, and you will lose the advantages of the IRS. Tim
  8. Awe, the link has been taken down....... Tim
  9. Also keep in mind that running bias ply tires and radial tires (ie radials on the front and bias on the rear), is dangerous. Can creat VERY unpredictable handling (this is coming from personal experience). Tim
  10. The wiring isn't that big of a deal. The time needed to sort out the LT1 wiring is more than made up for in the ease of tuning, great fuel consumption and power of the fuel injection. Don't discount he LT1 just because of the wiring, you will seel yourself short. If you REALLY don't want to deal with the FI, then you could always convert the LT1 to a carb setup. TIm
  11. Actually watching Indy while waiting for fiberglass filler to set up.... Here you go: 16-24Nm, 1.6-2.4 kg/m, or 12-17 ft/lb. I've never had much luck with gaskets back there. Either use the gasket with a LITTLE hylomar, or just use silicon. Tim
  12. OK, OK, I get it now..... When this was posted i clicked on the link, but nothing happened (using my laptop), so I figured I just didn't 'get' the joke, but now I see.....I'll have to try with my desktop on Monday...... Tim
  13. There is no way to mount it low enough to have the belt clear the water pump, because of clearance with the frame/exhausts/body. What I did was gut the PS pump and use it for a pulley, and make another adjustable pulley, down where the AC compressor was. Here are some pics: http://tim240z.iwarp.com/photo2.html Tim
  14. Like I said, I would love to see what you come up with, because I looked at every angle and couldn't find a viable solution. Tim
  15. Who is 'their'? As far as I know JTR only makes one mount for the trans? Tim
  16. I pulled it myself, so got much more stuff than I actually needed (wiring etc) The engine had 97k on it, but i started it (in the Z28) and it ran smoothly and didn't smoke at all!! Check the link in my signature for pics. Tim
  17. Jamie, I can see two obstacles to consider: 1: The intake plenum is very near the exhaust manifold, so the amount of water in the system would need to be large to soak up that heat and not super heat the water 2: The air in teh intake doesn't hang around for very long (before getting sucked into the cylinders), not long enough, I would think, to shed much of it's heat. Does that sound right? Tim
  18. Jamie, How about a water:air intercooler, with a 12volt pump, pumping water through an ice bath (something similar to the fuel cooler cans). You could put the ice bath in the back of the car and run 3/4 inch water lines (copper would be good?) to the front of the car. Is that what you're thinking of doing? Tim
  19. Hey Aux, you really know how to make a guy's day, huh? Tim
  20. I am also only using the Alt., and looked at the problem for a long while and decided that the only way to do it was to leave the alt. in the OEM position. If you come up with onother solution, I would be very interested to see what it is. Tim
