  1. I would suggest an engine with aluminum heads to keep the weight down in the front. Also that 6 speed is still only single overdrive (nothing like the Borg Warner T56 which is double overdrive). It's a close ratio box, probably good for racing etc, but IMO, cheaper to just put in a BW 5 speed. Ithing $500 at the JYs is the going rate for that. Tim
  2. for the money, I would replace the oil pump. It's the heart that pumps the blood around the engine. It's the first thing I would replace. Tim
  3. oil pump water pump thermostat freeze plugs WOW....sounds like you and the credit card company are best friends now!!! Tim
  4. I got a hat and t shirt last time around, but either a lightweight jacket (windbreaker type), or an embroidered denim long sleeve button down shirt would be nice. My 2c worth. BTW, think this will be done in time for MSAs? Tim
  5. Jim,looks like Super Dan Porter will answer our prayers!!! Tim
  6. John, I plan to do exactly that. I think we need to coordinate our efforts so that he doesn't get a bunch of duplicate stuff!! Tim
  7. Well, I've been bouncing a few emails back and forth with the guy, and long story short I will pick up my BOV on Thursday for $186.99 + tax (8.25%). This is the cheapest I've seen this for. Anyone seen it cheaper? TIm
  8. Cody, I'll check it out and report back on Thursday evening. Tim
  9. Well, Since it's now 1pm, Monday Feb 3rd, I imagine ol' TeeZee is on his way 'down the river'. We'll miss ya man!! Tim
  10. Try here for resto of your dash: http://www.justdashes.com/ Or order a new one from Nissan. Tim
  11. Livewire, Like Van says, it's not the spraying that's hard, it's the prep work. 95% of a good paint job is the prep/bodywork. The spraying is easy. Go to the JY and get an old hood, preferably one that's kinda jacked up. Do the bodywork/prep on it and primer and paint it. It'll be good practice, and once you have the knowledge/experience, you'll have it forever!! Hell, if it comes out perfectly, you can slap the hood on your car, and you'll have one less panel to do. If it comes out crappy, strip it down and try again. Lots of work up front, but like I said, once you know how, you know how!! Tim
  12. That looks pretty cool!! You think those headers are going to hold up? Tim
  13. I assume that he's an adult and capable of making his own decisions and mistakes? Let him do what HE decides to do. you led the horse to water, and he drank by his own decision, not because you forced him to!! Tim
  14. Did a quick search on NPR intercoolers: web page web page web page web page web page web page web page web page Some pretty cool installs there!! Tim
  15. John, I have not yet had my shafts made yet, but I have lined up the shop to do it. It doesn't make sense to sink money into something that I won't need for a few more months. As for the connections to the diff (CV flange), the CV with the 'star flange' bolts up to the diff as in the OEM installation. The other side of the shafts will get a pair of inner 'star' CV joints and housings, thus the requirement for the adapter plates. I will reply to your email on Monday at work. Sending pictures via dialup sux....much quicker throught the T1 at work!!! Tim
  16. Denny, you can see pics of my R230 conversion on my site. Basically the same as 1fz, but not welded in at the front, just bolted in, and I'm using the R200 mustasche bar, redrilled. I have no aspirations of that kinda HP though. Tim
  17. RacerX, I did allude to the fact that cooling the weld too quickly will effect the integrity of said weld, but do you concur that, for a body panel patch, say at the lower rear part of the front fenders where the Z tends to rust out, where there are no issues of structural strength required that the point is basically moot? Or am I missing something? I defer to your expert opinion: Tim
  18. Yup, that's gonna leave a mark alright!!
  19. Maybe soak it in carb solvent overnight? I don't know really...maybe I'm just talking out of my @$$, but I can't think of anything that could get hurt Tim
  20. Latest reply: To my response: Tim
  21. I am looking at a HKS SSQV BOV on ebay. The guy is local and asked him if I could save the $18.75 Shipping and handling and $2.75 insurance if I pick up. The item is $183.99 with no bids and $187.99 buy it now. He responds thusly: Where the heck did the price jack up come from? He hasn't responded to that question yet ..... What gives!! Here's the auction Tim EDIT: Here is his response: His contact details:Our email address is: Ray1120@Yahoo.com or jdmparts@icbmotorsport.com
  22. I won't even mention the crap that my friend had to go through to bring in his McClaren F1. But then he's rich enough to have someone else do it! Tim
  23. You should still have a bolt on the crank at the front . Maybe you need to pull off the pulleys to see it? Ohterwise a flat screwdriver on the teeth of the flexplate should work. Tim
  24. Hmmm....IMO it would be time to institute 'an eye for an eye"!!!Tim
