  1. I think that by the time you are done, it would be cheaper just to buy a used correct tranny.....
  2. I think what Katman is getting at is his published disapproval of the S&W kit as being ineffectual....if memory serves correctly, he has stated this several times......
  3. Post in the classifieds please.....
  4. Buy it, park it, finish the Z. You are going to have to very strongly resist the temptation to start working on it though, lest you end up with two unfinished long term projects. Also, think very hard about if you really want the Lotus, or if it is just stemming from a romantic memory......
  5. The ford has SIX!!! catalytic converters....Jebus!!
  6. PM Me your email address, and I will forward it on to the guy I am talking with....
  7. Several different methods...all have been discussed. Do a quick search and decide which you would like to use.
  8. Located in Bakersfield. Don't have any real details, only that it doesn't run, needs some brake work and is missing some small parts (hatch glass, one tail light, one door glass) Very light rust on floor and rear..... I have asked for more details if anyone is interested..... Could likely pick it up for a few hundred bucks....
  9. I found that when I put in a surge tank with a low pressure pump it helped ALOT! It also made the HP pump much much quieter. As for the low pressure pump being gravity fed.....low pressure pumps tend to 'pull' fuel much better than high pressure pumps.....
  10. WOW....you really dropped some coin on that package!!! I bet by the time you paid shipping you have $9k in that
  11. If you are doing a legal swap, you better start looking for a GTO fuel tank with all the sensors.....
  12. Yes sir! "Life in the Fast Lane".
  13. I think we have beaten this topic to death, and these post generally end up in trouble........
  14. Bushings, ball joints and wheel bearings could all cause that problem.
  15. Welcome aboard, John!!! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102658
  16. With a floor jack (if you don't have one, get one): Front: on the front cross member Rear: on the diff Definitely not on the frame rails! And, although the factory jack points with the scissor jack are on the side rails under the rocker panel, this area also tends to be to soft. You can pick up a small floor jack from pep boys etc for cheap.
  17. I call BS....that is wayyy tooo nice for a home job!! Well done!! great work!!
  18. Well, the weather was great....cool and sunny (at the coast anyways). We left the South Bay (home) on Thurs morn early. I woke up with the worst case of the squirts, so I had them, plus stomache cramps all the way up to monterey (300 miles). That compounded by only about 3 hours of sleep!. That was the longest drive I have ever had. I am not afraid of long drives either....I rack up about 1000-2500 miles a month for work. I was fine by Friday morning, but then my 5 year old son spend all night Friday puking (I guess I infected him). We were supposed to go to San Fran on Friday (I needed to pickup some fiberglass wide body parts). Decided to leave the wife and kid in Monterey to recoupe. They had to be out of the hotel by 2pm (late check out), so I had to haul up to SF and back. I got stuck in traffic in Berkley for 2 hours (fatality accident early that morning shut down the freeway completely). So then we just slowly made our way southward and stopped in Lompoc for 2 nights (the heat wave had filled every hotel room near the coast). Got home at 13h00, returned the rental car, got in my company truck and headed 2 hours east to Victorville where I will be until Thurs. Glad to be back at work....as stressful as it is, it is less than the damned vacation!!
  19. OK....I'm back....so watch the $##%^ out!! BTW....I remember why I don't ever go on vacations (thus having 6 weeks accumulated)....what a catastophe!!
  20. Temporarily anyways...headed up the coastline with the spouse and spawn for a little vacation....leave early AM thurs and arrive back home monday PM....will be offline for the duration (I think this may set a record for me!) 2 Nights in Monterey, and 2 in SF. 1 vacation in 3 years!! whoo hoo So....see y'all on Monday, or Tuesday.....
  21. WOW!! Welcome in... You certainly have one of THE most Unique Z cars I have ever seen.....definitley lots of metal work to get all that done!! Can't wait for more pics!
  22. Make sure that you have the "ignition on" sequence correct. Turn the ignition on (listen for the fuel pump to quit priming), then start the read procedure.... but....it certainly sounds like a hosed PCM....
  23. Not my car (I don't have any full view pics handy), but here you go: http://opelgt.com/photos/data/500/medium/Opel_-_engine1.JPG http://opelgt.com/photos/data/500/medium/DSC00552.JPG
  24. Are they US Dometic available, or are they JDM only? I need something very available....and again...power and speed are not the over-riding consideration. Cheap, easy and relaible is what I'm looking for. The TT V8 in the Z will be my HP toy.
  25. Do a google search on "refloating concrete floors" Here is an example of what can be done: http://www.flexbonflooring.com/home.htm
