  1. Did I read that right??? No wonder there is the Darwin awards...
  2. Wow hard to choose but Im going with Ruby! I want to see that made into a real car!!!!
  3. All you need to do is give power to the Starter and jump the two terminals on the starter with a screwdriver. Im not saying this is the safest way to do it but it is the quickest, just be careful doing it, dont place the battery near the starter either because it will spark when you jump the terminals. Have a buddy hold the compression gauge for ya and crank the engine over about 6 times per cylinder you test. Remove all spark plugs aswell, im sure they are crap anyways if they came with the motor. Read the gauge and make sure they are within 10-20 psi of each other. AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE OIL IN THE ENGINE. starting is the hardest part on a motor. It would also be a smart idea to test the piston rings, head gasket, and valves by doing a cylinder leak down test.
  4. The 200zr mounts do bolt the RB25DET in but it sits high and forward in the engine bay. You wont be able to close the hood all the way. I made my own mounts, motor and tranny for about $40 bucks. I placed my engine as low and far back as possible. Hopes this helps you out, and also get a walbro 255 fuel pump, high flow rate and I got mine on ebay brand new for $120.
  5. Stealth-Z is right. Its a for manufacture warranty to let them know when the timing belt has been changed. I have the same thing on my RB25DET, but even though the belt looked alright...I still replaced it with a new one.
  6. Well I took the Z out to Speedworld saturday night to get a couple runs in before I put the ECU in and get to tuning. On the way there the clutch started slipping in 4th and 5th gear.....great... But I wasnt going to let it ruin my night so I said the hell with it. Arrived at the track when the gates opened and went to tech.. I dont have a DOT approved helmet so the fastest I could run was a 14.00, so I figured I would just take it easy the first couple runs and then make a good strong pass. So when I Passed tech I drove to the staging lanes. After waiting for two hours of track prep...yes two hours after the gates open I finally get to line up. Alright, time for the first run. Im in the right lane and in the left a stock 93 Mustang Cobra. Im thinking to myself....Alright take it easy, havent ran this track yet and I want to make some runs for fun so I dont have to quit early... First yellow, Second yellow, Third..hit it! I launch about 2,500rpm, little chirp of the tires and I take off. Hit second gear running about 75& throttle, hit third gear...clutch starts slipping....damn... and I get out of it because I dont know what Im gonna run and I dont want below 14.00. Im about a 3rd of the way down the track when I let off and Im about 5 car lengths ahead of the mustang and he passes me for the win..I chuckle hehe... Second run...Im in the left lane and I get matched up to a 2006ish Dodge diesel....I have seen diesels back home, there is no way Im getting beat by a diesel... I stage... First yellow, bring RPMS up to 4,000rpm..Second yellow...Third...Hit it!! Spinning....spinning...7,000rpm, hit second..spinning..spinning..grab! Hit third gear..get to about 3,000rpm clutch slipping...damn...let off to about 60% throttle and cross the line with a 14.22, Diesel around 4 lengths behind me finishing with a 16.2. Well atleast I beat him hehe... Third run... Im in the left lane and in the right a blue '68 camaro...tubbed..full drag car...haha great.. First yellow...Im thinking well hell I better do something cool because I sure cant beat this guy...Second yellow bring revs up to 6,000rpm...Third yellow Hit it!! SPINNING....whao..SPINNING...2nd gear...SPINNING...SPINNING... Third gear...Third gear...GO INTO THIRD GEAR!! Alright no third gear...Go into 4th and cross the line with a 15.2...Hmmm..Put it in second and pull up to get my time slip..Go into first...grind...not gonna happen...Put it in second take of to the parking lot...Stop the car...Go into 1st...ok 2nd ok..3rd ok...4th ok...5th..ok.. reverse ok... Park it for the night and watch for a little more.. On the drive home clutch slips in 3rd, 4th and 5th now... You know what that means...time for a new clutch..a stronger one...hehe Going to be a couple months tho...bills come first I guess..but I will have to take it easy on the Z from now until then. Hope you enjoy the story!! I got scared there for a bit!! haha
  7. Best deal I have found so far and I like the sale price http://phase2motorsports.stores.yahoo.net/act6pucclutk1.html I have ordered a water pump from them before, they have fast shipping and are very helpful. I will definitly buy from them again....
  8. I am too now at the limits of the stock clutch, 9psi. Im gonna start searching tonight, Ill let you know what I find. Went to the track and clutch was slipping the whole time....
  9. Anyone going? I know I am:o.
  10. If you dont care about tearing it down...I would make it look good though, dont rattlecan it or the customer will give you bad ratings and thats what you dont want. If your gonna powdercoat it get it done right.... I posted DPE wheels on ebay and took pictures from far away and close ups, I just cleaned the wheels good and put like 5 or 6 pics up. Be descriptive in your post. Post how much shaft play it has and the condition. Dont start with too high of price either, start low or the least you would sell it for. Hope this helps!!
  11. I guess I stand corrected on that one. Then why is it that many drag cars these days are using launch control? If its so horrible for the motor then why is it in use?
  12. Actually cutting spark is safer. Fuel cools down the cylinder. Also there is not enough fuel entering the cylinder to "wash" them. Yes you can foul plugs if you do it enough like these kids that get the BEE*R systems cuz they like backfiring to scare there girlfriends and sit there for 2 min doing it. Unlike other wannabe tuners aka I have a civic with a b16dt45ric with direct port 145 1/4 shot of NOS and my BEE*R rev limiter that I use to back people off my a**. I will use it for launch control at the track. I just think its funny when these people get them and sit there to show there friends how cool it sounds because they can set off car alarms and after 3 to 4 times they find out how really cool it isnt to sit there and show off for 5 min doing it. The wolf system does not have a specific 2 step programmed into it but Im sure there is a way to use load sensors as inputs for a rev limiter. I have never heard of controlling power to the pump either.
  13. I should probably specify my ECU...I just recieved a wolf v500. In the specs it does say you have a choice between a fuel cut limiter or spark cut...Im sure I can figure out a way to program it in. By the way I watched your videos Booztd and Im very impressed. I cant wait to get a tune on mine and get it to the track. Im very new to tuning so Im ready to learn anything and everything.
  14. A good rule is a fuse should be 10% bigger then the circuit amperage pull. Hope this helps you out.
  15. Well Im going to be getting my standalone here soon and along with tuning I was thinking about programming a 2-step rev limiter in. Now it is cool to see flames and here the backfire coming out of the exhaust but I would use it for launch control. It has its pros and cons but I just want to know what you guys think... It is better to have spark cut rather then fuel cut so Im planning on using that for top end rev limit aswell. Also the way to engage the 2 step is a clutch switch right? Or is there any other sensors that the ECU could look at? So what do you think 2 step or no??
  16. Im not sure if these years had a neutral safety switch but if you have no fluid for your clutch then when you press in the clutch nothing happens and the car thinks your trying to start it without the clutch which equalls a no start condition. Find where your fluid is going, fill it up and try again. I think thats where BRAAP might be going with this aswell......
  17. 3/78 280z. RB25DET. Car will be used for track, drift, time attack, and autocross. Currently at 250whp, goal is 500whp.
  18. Have a little teaser video for you guys.... I will definitly have more videos as I get people to hold the camera and make a mount for it. Let me know what you think!
  19. I bought from venus and got screwed over a lil.....Cut wiring harness...they put a z32 ignitor on it and wired it in without looking at a scematic which torched my ECU. Clean motor and all parts were there, I just wasnt happy about the harness... I have heard people say good things about them so maybe I was just one of those times.
  20. ZDrifter

    4wd 240z

That would make sense, using the 2+2 body.....
  21. Hmmm i passed that around $6,000 ago:rolleyesg
  22. I would still build a box for it atleast.... My ignitor failed because of heat and ended up frying my ECU. If you want to show it off you can just pull the cover off of it. But if you take it out and drive it for a good amount of time and pull it in the garage back home put your hand on the ECU if its cool then your fine. But if you have to take your hand off of it I would suggest building a box for it. Just my opinon and I hope to see your car sometime!!!
  23. Very clean install I love it!! But one thing.... Having the AEM in the engine bay makes me cover my eyes!! In my opinion I would rather have it inside the car. Is there any reason preventing you from doing that?? Electronics and heat dont mix:cry:. Just my opinion tho, great job and I cant wait to see more videos!!!!!!
