ZDrifter replied to Clifton's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Nice pics!! You ran really well out there. I didnt get to run till around 3 haha. Lovin the sound of the '71! -
You guys think this is alittle too much boost?
ZDrifter replied to dustin280zx's topic in Non Tech Board
Those are just individual throttle bodies!! hehe -
RB25DET with Front mount and 3inch exhaust. Stock clutch 10PSI lasted about 6 months.... Then I put a 4 puck in and the solid differencial mount lasted about 1 month... Grade 3 bolt pulled apart, not snapped, pulled... Thats all I got so far.... Havent beat on her too much.

Went to the Autocross this weekend!! I didnt do very well but atleast I had fun. Enjoy!!

Good to hear everything is turning out alright. I had a scare earlier this year when one of my best friends had a brain clot at 19. She made it amazingly but had to relearn how to use the right side of her body and talk. It helps us realise how important our loved ones really are to us.

I like that position aswell. I think Im gonna try lower on the back window because I like seeing the driving and dash aswell as outside. Hopefully I can find a good balance between the both without loosing quality video of the actual image through the windshield.

how much horsepower is enough?or what does it take to scare you?
ZDrifter replied to randy 77zt's topic in Non Tech Board
Alright I dont care who you are but you cant tell me this wouldnt scare you the first couple times riding in it or driving it. Holds record for speed in one mile......Good Lord.... http://videos.streetfire.net/video/e22d280f-fe32-4fa1-85c3-99c8008d85ac.htm -
Thanks for the advice guys! I mounted the camera quickly just to try out the mount so I will definitly try again before the race. Quality seems a little on the low side but I think its because its at night. I can lower it more and go to the center a tad so you can still see me driving but see more of whats infront of me. Heres a picture of the mount. In the video, I mounted it to the back window. Eventhough the video was 2 min long, I was driving around for 20min and now loss of vacuum so I was pretty impressed!

The camera mount came in today so I took it out tonight to see how it worked out. It held really well and Im happy with it. Sorry I keep giving you guys night videos but thats all I have time for haha. This weekend is autocross so hopefully Ill get some good footage. Let me know what you think about the camera position. Listen for the rev limiter on the first highway run were traction was a little issue..oops...had a little backfire if you listen closley haha.... Enjoy! Oh and at the end of the video I just had to mess with the Magnum on 22's!!!

J Soleau has a 35r. Dont mean to post for him but Im sure he can give you the correct compression/exhaust ratios as I dont know his configuration...

I seriously couldn't have said it any better. Big disappointment in my opinion...Getting rid of a beautiful design, beautiful motor, beautiful manual transmisson.... You know what I see a lot of these will be driven by?? Woman.. I just saw a brand new Z06 the other day so I pulled up next to it on the freeway, I love the look of them by the way..., and who is driving? A woman.. You could tell it was her car...Stuff hanging from the mirror....flower stickers on the back window.... Dont get me wrong, Im not discriminating against woman but lets be real here, 95% of woman will not use the power, and if they do...oh boy... MAYBE .5% of them will know how to use it. WE ARE MEN WE USE OUR TOYS!!!! I just think they are making cars to easy to drive these days...which causes more deaths. I think to drive these higher powered cars, the buyers should have to pass a course to buy them. I dont know how many z06's i have seen totaled already. Also someone already ripped the front half of a bugatti veyron off and dont even get me started on the enzo ferrari. The value of the enzo will go up just because of people crashing them!!! I could go on and on about people with money buying these cars not knowing how to properly drive them if they decide to get stupid with them ON THE STREET. But I will leave you with this....in MY opinion...the skyline is dead.

Is there a reason your set on minivans?? Why not a SUV such as the highlander? Heard good things about them, they drive like a camry, but have the room of a minivan...maybe a little less. Im sure the towing might be a little better aswell. If you think about it....minivans are going out....suv's are in...I would look at depreciation value aswell.

This is how it should be.... hehe

Need a little advice from AutoX/Track Day Guys Please
ZDrifter replied to ZDrifter's topic in Non Tech Board
I found that whole ebay unit that was $100 on ebay...for $50 on Amazon. So Im going to go ahead and spend the money to get it. Also it would be a smart idea to make a safety strap like John C said because I would rather not have my camera flying around the car anyways. Seems like scca would keep a lot of the rules generic for different states. Thanks for the advice guys and hopefully I can get some good footage! -
how much horsepower is enough?or what does it take to scare you?
ZDrifter replied to randy 77zt's topic in Non Tech Board
It depends on the kind of driving for me....I was disoriented after riding in Clifton's 240... But I was getting a little nervous in a viper GTS-R going around Portland International Raceway. Id say the most scared I have been in a car or truck in this case... was probably drifting a quad cab long bed f-250 diesel. Has something like a 8 inch lift on 38's but it spanked my Z back when it was stock. So it depends....If I had a little more of a ride in Cliftons Z I think that car would scare me. Its always nice to have blurred vision as boost builds and acceleration causes your internals to fall towards your spine haha. -
Awesome run!!! We should meet up and go to the track once I move back to Oregon. I will be moving to Oregon City aswell...Originally lived in Beavercreek.

Need a little advice from AutoX/Track Day Guys Please
ZDrifter replied to ZDrifter's topic in Non Tech Board
Thanks for the advice. I still want to get one of this type for other uses aswell.... -
So I have a couple events coming up. Autocross this next weekend and drag racing the start of november. I would love to catch both of these on camera for whoever wants to see them. Now, considering my car isnt caged yet....places to mount the camera are limited. I have been looking at suction cup/window type mounts and bought one but it didnt work out.... Did a little more research and found out that vaccuum suction type mounts work well for most people and I have found the vacuum cup that most people are using. I can only find it online and it costs a pretty penny. Anyone know of where else I could find this piece in a generic store for less? I looked in home depot but they didnt have anything. It looks like something that would be used for handling sheets of glass... I cant see buying a $100 mount off of ebay when I can get the suction cup and make the rest myself... Any help would be appreciated thanks!!! This is what the cup looks like.....

One of my favorite videos I have ever seen! Saved on my desktop haha. Im always up for going out to shoot some film but non of my friends are in to doing that...they either want to drink or sit on there asses. Too bad I dont live in sweden, looks like you got a great bunch of buddies!

I will drive around to see if anyone gets there before me but I usualy park near the center entrance away from mcdonalds. if you turn right going into the parking lot then drive down that center section i will most likely be in the row closest to that if not the second closest
-
Most likely around 6:45 to 7:00. Im not sure if Brian and Tim will make it until I talk to him later today. But considering its getting cooler outside there might be a better turn out as usual....atleast thats what Im hoping the case will be.
-
Dear God what kind of camera are you using...... Im loving that car but awesome editing and camera work!!!!!!!
-
Fix it and get there!!!

They will buy the car then crush it. California is trying to get all older cars off the road. Every year they try to pass a law that every car '85 and older can not be driven on the road no matter what. If you are caught they will crush it. But SEMA always finds a way to get enough signatures to turn them down. Do not sell them your car.
