  1. IMO POR 15 is qwite a bit more durable i painted some rusty pices with zero rust, POR 15 and the stuff you can get from eastwood. Banged them around other scrap metal pelted them with rocks from my lawnmower left them outside for about a mounth and POR15 coating looked better than evrything elce. So thats what im going to use. BTW thanks for all the R&D for my cadge, im trying hard to resist, but i think im going to end up doing a full teardown and blast like you did.

    I was thinking it might be a good idea to add another forum for racers, general forum name could be "Racers" (more oriented to raceing than the "motorsport" forum) with sub topics being type of racing: Auto-x, drag, scca, rally ect. Would talk about different tracks,car setup. Just an idea that poped im my head.

  6. Yeah what he said, wasent 100% shure if you where talking about the gen I II vortec head, or the gen III IV vortec motor. Witch will take LS heads. Sry for the confusion.

  8. Cant hurt to try, sounds like you would almost be going backwards if you did the 305 swap if i where you id look for a decent 383 where are you in TX?

  12. take it to a machine shop see if they will give you anything for trade on a 350 what is your current setup?
  13. Unless you’re talking about gen3 vortec motor an I’m retarded/misread in which case ls heads are better but quite a bit more expensive for heads, intake, ignition set up.
  14. Ls1 heads do not bold up to a SBC so yeah id say you are a victim, altho world does make a casting for a LS style head to bolt on to a Gen1/2 block but they really are a solution to a problem that dosent exist. Vortec heads aren’t half bad tho. But they do make an intake so you can carb an LS motor (blasphemy to some) but they run pretty well.
  15. Probibly looking at upper 12's/ mid 13's depends on modifications to car/driver skill tires ect.
  16. Hahaha! Yeah when my floor pan finally gave out in my driveway I picked up a handful of odd bolts/screws and knew exactly where they all went. Glad it isn’t just me.
  17. You know you own a Datsun when there are rust marks from the jack stands on your driveway and when you go to the parts store you end up ordering parts off of 10 different makes and the people there know you on a first name basis.
  18. No offence but probibly a reason it was givin to you. Heads flow like crap probibly looking at absolute best 350 HP i build one with vortec heads Crane PowerMax H-278 cam/lifter kit RMP air gap 600 CFM carb for a friend of mine. through a T5 dynoed at 298 RWHP put the same parts on a 350 tho and your looking at easily 50-70 more HP
  19. yeah i have been emailing back and forth with Andrew over there normally timely responces but havent herd form them in a week the phones dont work over here so cant call looks like all be talking with him more when i get back tho when i get them in the car all def post up on how i did it.
  20. I have 250 springa all around an its great as well but i also have a bit more weight in back an hace in iron block SBC in front i used to work at GC you can ask mark about Blem sleves if you what to go the cheap rte normally the anodizing is slightly off of some other slight defect
  21. You dont have to fluch them but most if not all dont come with a filter inside the tank so they tend to fill up with crud after long periods of use witch goes right into your pump so its not a bad idea to check evry once in awhile.
