Was the distributor removed? If so did you put it back in correctly?

After all said and done, I would simply read this site for 1 year. Then come back and tell us what you are going to do. I've changed my mind so many times and have boat loads of cash tied up in parts currently. I think I would have still done it the same but it would have been much easier if I knew more going in. Make it run just the way it is and I mean 100%. Fix the old stuff. You'll have tons of questions anyway and learn alot. This won't make much sense to you now, but if you take the advise and do it, I swear it will in a year. Maybe take 2 years!

Yes, that is good. I just have simple searches and I normally only car about Florida. I just didn't feel like installing another program, yes I know, it is likely better, but mine is very easy to do also.

Does anyone know if you can search by state? Or at least by Florida? I couldn't figure it out. I created a Word doc with all the areas I'm concerned about looking in after doing a search for datsun. Once I have all my areas I save the word doc as HTML and added it to my bookmarks. Now I have all the areas on one page with the search done. No searching or typing. One click to the boomark and another to do the search in the area. Once I'm done looking, I back button a few times and do a new search on a new area with just one click. Maybe I'm dumb and missed the All Florida search. Let me know if I did.

I've heard that blax240 sells very clean quality parts and get's top prices. I know I posted about an R200 that he had cleaned up that sold for $200 for a 3.54 stock Turbo rear end. What gets me is his pics are only so, so, but that is just my opinion. I did the same thing as what he did and only pulled $102.00 for an identical item. I know you said you checked the Water temp sensor. Did you try replacing it?

Again, thanks guys for all the advice. I'm getting the feeling he REALLY wants a Celica. A few of you mentioned Autocross. Any ideas in where in Central Florida this takes place? Is this part of SCCA? Does anyone know the age restriction? I'm thinking you must at least be 15 w/ a driving permit?

Just because the shop put the head togther doesn't mean they set the valve clearence correctly. Did you check this?

Congrats! I know this sucks for you, but it will help many others for things to check for when they run into problems. What made you check the ignitor? Just out of ideas?

All very good points I will take under consideration. I'm sure I'll be dinged on a two seater sports car for insurance purposes, but one thing I recognized was having more than one passanger was a huge distraction as a teenage driver back in the day. It's either a Z or small pickup. What is bad about a pickup is he can pile kids in the back. Major, no, no in my book. Granted he can stuff a couple of kids in the back, but it sure is nice to say I can't fit but one in the car or can I ride w/ you.

I'm attempting to try to better what my mom and dad did for me. My first car was a 73 Ford Torino Station wagon. I just want something better than that for him. He is very interested in my Z, so I got a deal on 280z. A little more solid, newer A/C components and FI. I just hate those bumpers, but they may come in handy for a first car. Plus I'm hoping to have him involved in the fix up.

I'd like to have 4 cyl performance without swaping the whole motor. Is it just a bad idea based on saftey?

I'm looking at fixing up a 78 280z for my son's first car. He's almost 14. I'm going to keep it stock, but I'm thinking I may want to slow it down even further. If I were to add a restrictor plate behind the TB, what results would occur? Would it make it run rich? I was thinking of making the hole 30 to 40mm. Would doing this acheive the results I want? Is there an aftermarket system that could be added to reduce top speed?

I know, my rating dropped from 99.4 to 98.3 because of a neutral. They now only look at the last 12 months. As a seller besides using the unpaid bidder process, how do we let other sellers know if a buyer is a dead beat. In my opinion, they should drop the neutral all together. Just have a Positive or Negative. Neutral counts against us anyway and still takes 12 months to drop off.

I've had one like these. Some of these are priceless. On a side note, though we have to leave postivie feedback, we can still preface our comments w/ Postive, Negative or Neutral in the text of our comments just to let others know what went on.

That is crazy money. I ALWAYS use FedEx. They are much cheaper. Just remember to use Fedex Ground instead of Home delivery. Your limit w/ HD is 75 LBS, where as regular ground should be 150. I've been ebaying since 02 and FedEx has only lost one package thus far.

Check ebay for your area. I was supprised to find out what ZX's were bringing on ebay. Good luck.

You think that much for an R200? I just sent one to OH w/ my cost of 50.32. That was with a custom wood box at 90 LBS, 24x12x12.

Option 3 is the best in my opinion. See if you can leave it there and flip it.

You've got one critical thing going for you in all this... it seems like money is not an obstical! My wife would have a heart attack!
